I'm pretty new to the forums here (1st post) and I thought that a special section on profile feedback is a great idea.
So, if you have the time, I'd love to hear some feedback on my profile.

I’m a recently divorced and decided to give this online thing a shot.
Sounds like you are looking for a guinea pig.
Lines on your face...you don't have 'em too many, what are you talking about? Sounds like something a woman could've said, I'd drop it.
I would change the 'things you didn't get to do' paragraph, I don't see why did you even include it.
Instead of making yourself sound boring (normal), you should write something interesting. Why not? With your profession you won't have a problem with it.

1. The first sentence needs to go.
2. More pictures would help you.
3. You did a good job of describing your "interests" the problom is they are covered up above, in the interests section, so it is redundant. However , you DID NOT tell the ladies WHO you are. Select at least two UNIQUE personality traits that scream JOE, and tell the ladies what they are. We all have preferences, and if your going to find a woman that "gets" you, she NEEDS to know WHO you are, more than what you like to do.
Then select two words that describe the lady you seek, so she will have an idea if YOU might like HER. This is what will get you mail, making a "connection".
Age restriction from 30 to 42? Looking for arm candy Joe? Most ladies WILL frown upon that.
With all your restrictions, it will be hard for ANY lady to contact you. The 75 miler does not work very well, so sort them as they come in.
Surely you have more "interests than what you have listed? They are searchable if they turn blue, and will help the ladies find you. Should have a minimum of 15 or so.
First date is better than most, but I would remove the last line, this is the place to be sure of yourself, not say whatever you want to do. The cycle ride is good, maybe one more idea to grab there curiosity.

Actually that was pretty much the default when I signed up. I had a birthday since then and never changed it. I modified it now.

Well, I appreciate the point you are making about the restrictions…but I think I’ll keep it as is for now. I would like you to elaborate on what you mean by the “75 miler” not working very well? Are you saying it’s too large or too small?

I didn't write that, but I can elaborate. It has been said, many times, that Pof doesn't calculate distances properly. Not only that, would you turn a woman down who live 76 or 80 miles away rather than the requisite 75 mile filter? Or maybe you will be contacted by a woman who absolutely knocks your socks off, but she lives 150 miles away. You shouldn't limit yourself, and it is better to filter manually for this rather than cut someone out, who may be your match in every way except for the 75 mile thing. | |

Ah, I see what you are saying. The thing is, I’m in NYC and the 75-mile range covers a huge amount of people (all 5 Boroughs, Long Island, most of NJ, 3 upstate counties and parts of Connecticut). I wouldn’t feel comfortable with anything bigger than that at this point because I don’t feel it is realistic (since moving is not an option for me). | |
