Tell Me About Your Dream Home....

Mine is in the bush, here on the North Coast, and has a creek running thru the property, with a good water hole for swimming and camping by - maybe with a little waterfall too..and rocks around it of course. The landscape is rainforest....and there are many trees are on the hillside that the verandah faces (that's where I sit to watch the sunset.)

The house itself is rambling, and many different levels, having been built a bit at a time by the original owner...and there are huge tree trunks running up thru the ceiling. Each bedroom (at least four) opens onto the wide covered verandah..and I can hear the creek running as I lie in bed.

Building materials are mostly salvaged - old heavy doors, recycled corro, rough hewn logs...

The bathroom is separate from the house, and has a window wall where I can lie in my claw footed bath and look at the bush. (There's also an external shower outside my bedroom). Did I mention my bedroom is a long way from the children's....well, it is.

I have no neighbours. Perhaps the best part. It makes wandering around naked and singing at the top of my voice much more comfortable for all!

(I don't have this house, btw...but I nearly did.....if only I'd been richer! I know where it is, and one day it'll come back on the market.)

OK, an A frame, big balcony around the front facing a lake. Second floor bedroom with an open floorplan over looking open lounge area, also with balcony over looking lake. Built on a hillside so back of house doesn't have any windows. Have drawn it many times, never found the perfect piece of land.
Might just have to settle for a Quaker barn!

wow bewitched, sounds amazing!
reminds me of how i always figured i'd build my house bit by bit to fir in the landscape as needs arise but to a grand plan :)
however, i have a problem with the concepts of land ownership and selling my life to the bank, so unless i become a better pirate n build my hideout ;) i can't see how it will happen :(

sunsets n sunrises playin music on tha veranda figure somewhere in there tho :)

Umm...I think its a caravan. I am supremely uninterested in housekeeping and having less rather than more appeals to me. The ability to move to new outdoor living areas is a bonus.

A home's warmth and level of joy is measured in direct proportion to the people who occupy it. If you have great friends and loving family consider yourself wealthy beyond compare.

I've always wanted one of those big log houses like you see in Canada, lots of massive floor to ceiling windows to let in the light, surrounded by trees, maybe a little stream snaking through the back of the property. Ah that would be bliss.

HawaiiUncle - I have those things...and I do! A house is just a house until it full of people you love (even if it is just yourself). Then it becomes a home.

I'm happy for you. I have them too, although they're on the outer islands for the most part.

Mine is something small and cosy, library for the kids (when I have them), only one TV, space on the walls for my memorabilia, space for cooking and a room for my music collection.

Not a fan of big lavish houses. In fact I find it selfish that we have people who live in monster houses, own 5 cars and buy a new wardrobe every season..

I want to build a castle on a canal estate right at the end. I would then cut the edge of the canal off in front of my castle and have a draw bridge on it. It would be made of stone and have parapets on the top. Yeah, awesome!!

Definately self cleaning paid for and maintenance free - allowing me to roam in the beautiful old fashined garden. Queenslander style home great views of garden then bushland. Plenaty of wildlife, friends, family, pets and room enough to house them when they visit. Fireplace and lots of loving warmth. A reflection of me really.

As I'm still working.... my dream home would be next door to my work! No transport problems and getting home while it's still light in the winter. Guess it might be a little difficult for taking a 'sickie'!!

Its located near a beach, its in a warm climate and its so not in Geelong ....!!!

and it has lots of room for dogs and cats for company....

Just a little place I could call mine.....filled with books, cds, and dvds. Warm and inviting to entertain my friends in..apart from that, not fussy....ok Daniel Craig as a very close next neighbor...ah to dream.

I'm not fussy. I'll have the speccy described in the OP. Throw in a bit of elevation overlooking the coastline with a few wedgetail eagles soaring around and I'll take it.

My dream house???

Is it alright to be more than one I am a Gemini and can't amke up my mind so I need to have more than 1 house.

Okay there is no limit to dreams:

1. In countryside 1/2 hour away from the City....something like what you see in French Movies High windows and doors... with a lot of beautiful cornices and all maybe about 100 years or so ....all Mediterranean garden with terracotta pots .... maybe even a touch of vineyard looking garden...river close by...

2. A beautiful open living one side opening into the ocean and the back mountains ...not fussy a modern touch to this house is okay.

3. An Apartment in New York maybe on the 10 or 12 floor with huge balcony and all the architecture to be 40's or 50's style with modern touch... again cornices and high windows and doors.

In all the houses I need to have a

walking pantry....
Fire places
Art room
beautiful study with tall shelves and chesterfield chairs. in the beachside house I settle for modern furniture.

Don't forget a combination of antique and modern furniture and Art
Full time cleaner

In my Garage I want to have

1. bicycle
2. BMW
3. Porsche Cayenne four-wheel drive
4.mini minor
5.1963 Porche 356B Cabriolet

that's all for now.

in my dream home ...

everything works...
everything cleans itself..
everything is automatically put away..

when thieves steal things, those things are automatically replaced before i come home.

also...nothing of the above costs anything to me.

a hard one....
around an hours drive from any big city, (hate the rat race) two floors, laundry, garage and workshop downstairs, bedrooms, lounge and kitchen upstairs.
tiled roof, double brick construction, with double glazing throughout.

large underground tanks for rain and grey water, large greenhouse and good size vegie garden.

and the most important aspect of life anywhere, a dream lady
the dream house then becomes a dream home

At this point, I have it, across the road from the beach, go to sleep hearing the waves crash, and takes me 3 minutes to get to work,

Life is good!

Gee Bewitched, I can do the bush, the waterhole, the no neighbours thing, got a bit of rainforest happening, the creek, the wide verandahs. All this about 10 k's north of the boarder (not far from Burleigh) and a delightful 15 minute cruise into the rat race and work. Yes, I was lucky. The old Italian that built the place left quite an orchard (lemonades and grapefruit in season now) but the piece de resistance is the kick-ass grapevine that covers one side of the bull-nose verandah and gave a very nice yield a couple of months back. I wept for joy the day I moved in 6 months ago!

mine would have to be a queenslander perched in the middle of about 80 archers fenced with a couple dams and a creek flowing through the middle . some head of cattle and a couple pigs to keep the freezer full. lush pasturers abd a bush block out the back for riding bikes and general playing.
