| hmmmm, why isnt it working?
Posted: 5/27/2008 10:12:09 PM | hey all, i've setup a profile and nobody seems to be really taking notice. i've been getting a few views, but i haven't had anyone contact me and most of my messages go unreplied. i've tried to be straight up as possible and as honest as possible but nobody seems interested. i'm currently separated and i think that might be hurting me, but i dont want to say i'm single and lead anybody on.

Posted: 5/27/2008 10:28:09 PM | Lose the pictures, none of them are flattering. Especially lose the mirror one, the tongue out (clever caption there, btw) and the seagull hair one. Work on these. I would comment on your headline, but due to every other glaring thing wrong in this profile, I now can't remember what the heck it even said. Even though it has slipped my mind, you probably have to change this too. As with your username, it could use an overhaul.
Your profile is EXTREMELY negative! There are tons of things you haven't done, not really doing, would like to to, may do, but not too much that you ACTUALLY do! Couple that with the passage that you are lazy, haven't had much to do in a while and are bored, well, that just cinches it for the reader and they reach for the back button right then and there.
But wait there's more, if you actually read it!!!!
Ditch the whole spiel about your step children, the expletive in that sentence, your soon to be ex wife's untreated alcoholism, all that garbage. I read it and went, "Ewwww...", total turn off. Not to mention that whole sad, sad, monologue about your well, sad experience here on pof! What good woman in her right mind would ever WANT to contact you, OP? What do you bring to the table? From what your profile says, not much at all. Certainly nothing funny, interesting or charming enough to warrant taking time out of a busy day to message you! Think about the image you portray, it ain't pretty.
Last but not least, lose your little blurb. Who gives a rat's if you don't like your rating? Thanks for the info, but if people want to know, they can go to the pof help page.
I'm just glad you didn't put anything in the first date section, and spared me having to read any further. My advice? Read the profile writing tips thread, look at some GOOD profiles of some of the reviewers here, DELETE your ENTIRE profile, and start over.

Posted: 5/27/2008 11:08:17 PM | | ok, i can see where you're coming from on that so i've deleted everything but one image until i can give it a good rework. i guess my since of humor doesn't come off very well. thought that people would catch on to the laugh and fishing icon after that part. the part i'm having a difficult time with right now is that i dont want to fail to mention my wife/ex in the profile and cause somebody to get offended. i hold onto a strict policy of open honesty that i dont want to betray. would rather have somebody hate me for who i am then love me for who i'm not. get me? | |

Two women looked at your profile, and we did not think it was funny. I'm glad you are thinking of reworking it. It can only work in your favor to change the trainwreck that you have right now! Posted: 5/29/2008 10:54:50 PM | Well, it looks like you made some revisions, and that's a good thing. I didn't see the original version, but I still think your (sole) pic is a little problematic -- it's backlit and so dark I can hardly make out your features. So more pics are a definite must.
I understand -- and share -- your concern about being separated and yet dating, but I think that's most what you seem to want, more than a casual "hang out." I'm not sure how well asking to "hang out" does here, where most people are looking to date. Consider changing that, and adding a first date idea. | |

I'm not a fan of the shirtless pictures. I know it's cropped above the shoulder but after looking at your body type I can't help but to wonder if you have "moobs". Just take some pictures with a nice shirt on. | |

Posted: 6/2/2008 12:24:58 PM | | i took one of those pics, looked like shit. i'm part native, and have some sort of recessive gene, so i have patches of skin that are darker in than others in some places, and my eyes is one of those places. it came out looking like i was a racoon. you can kind of see it in that pic if you look closely. | |
