Why in the world would anyone want to be a conservative ?????

Here in Canada, Tories (Conservatives) were, at one time, protectionists who were interested in preserving the status quo for the benefit of their wealthy backers. It was the Liberals who were for free trade.
Fast forward to the 1980s. Canada's Conservative Party was responsible for the Free Trade Agreement (with the USA) and later NAFTA. It was chiefly politicians on the "left" who were opposed to free trade.
What the various parties stand for changes over time.

I was referring to the Tories who were loyal to king George and opposed to this crazy notion of " Self Goverment" that was suggested by those feisty liberal Whigs up in the Boston Area.
Now we have those same foolish conservatives who always link our great forefather(liberals) to their argument. The funny thing is now, they are kissing the ass of another man name George who thinks he is a king.

Cheney, of course, had a major impact on the Shrub's administration. "Cheney's Law" is an excellent documentary. It's from PBS.
