Recent forum posts a mandatory feature in profile? [CLOSED Thread]

I apologize if this has been covered.

But shouldn't there be an option to turn off the display of your "most recent forum posts" from your profile? If there is, and I just don't see it, please direct me.

I enjoy the catharsis of discussing "current events" on various forums. But, frankly, I try not to mix politics with my dating interests. It often leads to immediate pre-judgements about a person's character, and I'd rather bring up politics with a dating interest tactfully, if at all.

Just wondering...

Thank you.

Your Forum Posts can be found with POF Forum Search using your Username as a Keyword. They can also be found on Google by searching for:

username site:forums.plentyoffish.com

so, removing the Last 5 on your Profile won't matter much.

I apologize if this has been covered.

Oh, it's been more than just covered. Search for Forum Post using POF Forum Search and select Plentyoffish Site/Suggestions/Help in the Menu.

^^^^^^True, but most people who are just browsing profiles won't be wanting to check up each individual on google to see if they have any forum posts, whereas when they are stuck on your profile people are more likely to just look out of curiosity,or to find out more about the person. Having said that, the only reason it should really bother someone is if they're trying to hide something.

If a person is going to post in the Forums, it is important to know that side of them. That is why the posts are linked on profiles. I doubt very much they will ever be removed.

Searching a username by itself on Google can be very enlightening, especially when a person uses the same name on more than one site. Most know about Google, so I tend to think there is a lot of username searching going on.

bottom line from Admin

Admin: It forces people to behave, and those people that don't are going to look like morons.

Admin: Also people with forum posts are going to get more replies to emails, then those without.

Admin: people have to be held accountable for what the post. this is a dating site first and forum second.

Admin: Number of users posting on the forums since the addition has doubled.

Synopisis in General

If someone is going to be a jackass out on the forums - best that any current interested parties get a feel for what potential they have

If someone is going to post with some form of intelligence - all the better for them

Keeps you honest and true to character ...
