Hey everybody, one of the owners of the bar sent me an e-mail to inform me that she would have snacks at the bar, there had been individuals at the last party that request food.

J Dubs is large and spacious, and features 2 bars, a big dance floor, a live band and a DJ playing tunes between band sets. The band starts at 9:30 pm and the cover charge is ..only a buck!
Don't forget their POWER HOUR from 10:30 pm to 11:30 pm!
Once you get to J Dubs, you will find the POF party in the back. Find me and please sign in. Look for the yellow balloons that say "POF"!

The stores stay open late, there is entertainment along the streets and tons of people are out walking around. It's usually fun. Things start winding down by 9 though, so there is plenty of time to make it to J. Dubs. | |

Posted: 6/13/2008 1:29:06 AM | I am looking forward to coming to JDubs again. Won't be able to stay too long as I have to be up at 4am for work the next day. Also I just got home from work yesterday to find my youngest son broke all 4 fingers on his left hand while skateboarding...Oh the fun never stops for me..lol Spent the day at the hospital. Not sure when I have to get him to the surgeon yet. But this is at night and by then I will definately need a night out to have some fun. | |

Lots of shops, bars and restaurants, a couple of art galleries, and 2 ice cream parlors. A Strohs and a Sanders. One friday night last year they had a wine thing going on where various businesses would fill your pre-paid wine glass. The art gallery has an art "opening" on this night. Free munchies and wine. Last year they had a fire blowing contortionist performing. Usually 3 or 4 different music acts along the 4 block downtown section. Some unscheduled. I highly recommend the old fashioned candy store. They have things there that I had not seen since the 60s. Anyways, it would be a great pre-meet-up thing. | |

p.s. not to preach or anything, but i really do have a lot of fun without drinking. i stopped drinking at age 22 because i hated it and it made me sick. and i just love waking up the next day and remembering what i did and who i did it with! LOL
p.s.s. i went to a wedding three summers ago in the UP, and holy smokes half the crowd was from downstate. i could not believe all the drunk folks!!! 99 percent of us were staying at these two hotels side by side. there was a state police one mile down the street from the town hall where the wedding was at. i am serious, the entire town was invited, too. it was the largest wedding i have ever attended. i went up to the band and asked if i could use the mic for a second. i announced that i am a nondrinker, and if there is anyone at either of the two hotels that was heavily drinking to come and see me, as i was going to drive them the one mile down the street to the hotels. i walked outside to my car sitting there, and OMG, about 25 people followed me out, LOL LOL. it was HILARIOUS. so i could fit four people in. my sister who was not drinking got her car. we started hauling folks back to the inn, LOL. the next day as we drove home we went past the hall, and there were 17 cars in the parking lot !!!!! we still laugh about that day. but i did it for everyone's safety. actually, when i first got to the mic i said ALL DRUNKS, MAY I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION!!! seriously, i have to ask my sister, but i believe the total people we got back safely was 30 plus. not all of them were the drivers, but they would have been with a drunk!!!
AGAIN, SORRY IF I AM PREACHING........i am just really paranoid of drinking and drivers. when my son was an infant, we were run off the road by a drunk driver. by the grace of God, i saw him crossing the median across the grass and slammed on my brakes as he whirled past me and into a building on the other side of the street. he was so drunk. i went immediately to where he crashed, grabbed my son, and went to the guy's window. he looked at me and went, "shhhhhh. don't tell no one i may have had a few drinks." OK, WARREN, I WON'T!!!!!!! | |
