| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 5/30/2008 11:02:49 AM | Have you ever wanted to clone yourself? Why yes or no?
Producing stem cells is almost the same and not that many are against it. Do you think it is because stem cells production benefit us more than cloning?
Many say that the clone's age would be hard to determine; do you think so?

| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 5/30/2008 11:13:35 AM | | Yes I would if the technology was safe. Of course the clone would be a new person without my memorys. I'd be fine with that. I'm all for cloning myself though. | |

| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 5/30/2008 2:53:23 PM | Absolutely not. First of all, there would be no point. The clone wouldn't be me. I'm me. It would be like having a younger twin. Second, it would beg the question of who's responsible for that life once it's created?
There's a cult here in Canada who believe, if they are going to continue, it will be through cloning. Needless to say, they're not taken very seriously.

| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 5/30/2008 5:18:26 PM | | I'd like to be my clone and relive my life 50 years later without all the mistakes. Not a very realistic prospect but this thread lends itself to wishful thinking.. | |

| Would I want to clone myself? Posted: 6/1/2008 6:36:22 PM | Only if I could have abrain transplant into that clone! Or use it for spare parts...menaing...it would need an undeveloped prian...perhaps just a brain stem to which most body systems would use to sustain its life. then...a fresh new bod for me! Sure...go ahead...clone....it isn't as if there isn't enough kids out there already that aren't being supported right. | |

| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 6/2/2008 1:06:24 PM | i would definitely clone myself. in a heart beat.
i would make a male version of myself. it would be great. i think i am pretty swell, not bad looking and a damn good cook - could be the best thing ever....lol
one question though, if i had sex with my male clone would i be masturbating? LOL

| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 6/2/2008 3:17:47 PM | It would depend on if it's a biological clone (like dolly the sheep) or more like a 1:1 clone with memories and all (like in The Prestige).
It would be kinda neat to have a body double that's more less a backup of yourself, but I'd much rather just clone some spare parts for myself. I like my uniqueness and I wouldn't want to put my other self though the mind-f*** of being the cloned one, seems selfish.

Plus, with memory implanting, you could even get confused as to which one of you is the clone.
Fear that noise. | |

| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 6/3/2008 8:45:33 PM | Aside from the technical hurdles of cloning, it would simply mean a younger identical twin of myself- no shared memories or knowledge. I'm not that vain, and I enjoy the old-fashioned form of reproduction.
I would, however, like to make a replica of myself- like a 3D carbon copy- with the same memories and experience as myself, so when I talk to myself it wouldn't look so strange...

| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 6/5/2008 12:34:09 PM | | I wonder if someone cloned themselves a large number of times and each clone grew up in different surroundings, would we finally be able to work out what is nature and what is nurture / what is genetics and what is social conditioning? hmmm.... | |

| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 6/5/2008 4:51:31 PM | lookingforactuality, Now imagine deep freezing some of the clones in liquid nitrogen and bring them to the lives in different centuries, someone in the future would possibly have all the secrets...However, it would not be a good thing to experiment with humans even if the technology was much more advanced, except, possibly if someone would be a volunteer for the experiment, for some crazy reason... | |
|
| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 6/5/2008 5:38:23 PM | | Oops, there is no reason for that actually since with a preserved single cell of someone being cloned, you can make a clone at any time. | |

| Do you wish you could clone yourself? Posted: 6/5/2008 6:15:51 PM | Sarsss, this is an interesting question.
My naked unthinking response is - yes. Why? Because I could make sure that he/me did not make all the mistakes I made.
But then, I think, every man says that when he has a son or daughter.
No son or daughter grows up as a complete refection of mum or dad.
So, it follows, that a clone of me will make his or her own mistakes.
Vanity? Perhaps? I cannot think why anyone would want a clone of themselves. Are not you enough for the world?
