| What was your fashion style when you were younger.? Posted: 5/31/2008 4:38:15 PM | Were you a mod, or a rocker, or a punk, or a skinhead, or a goth, or a whatever.?
And what are the fashions around these days for teens.? There doesn't seem to be much choice beyond chav or at least round here it looks that way.

I am thankful though that I am not a geek though, you ok with it?

| What was your fashion style when you were younger.? Posted: 5/31/2008 5:37:33 PM | When I was really young my mother used to dress me and my younger sister identically, we wore the same velvet dresses with crocheted frilly collars - I have a whole series of photographs of me and scabby who was always a head shorter than me dressed the same for years - we were the epitome of 70's chic, we had a housekeeper who knitted and crocheted amazing gear for us to wear and I inherited really cool gear from my cousin Jill - fur trimmed swede stuff - I used to look like a fully fledged member of the Partridge family and I even had a pageboy hairstyle, apparently it really suited my round face.
Later my father used to sneak into my bedroom to take the clothes he hated me wearing and throw them away - I'm still annoyed about that because I used to wear a really fab Parka which he disposed of on the grounds it was disgraceful looking and I was an embarassment to him.

That is a hillarious statement - just tried to imagine YOu dressed up and trying to pass as a chav ...sorry You obviously a little bit detached if chavs is all you know/see. Try getting out a bit more, you may run into a goth or even an emo... LOL
Not at all, it is 99.9% chavs round here.
and yes I am detached from teenage fashions..
but, seeing as I'm not 14 years old, I would have thought that was self evident.?
obviously not. | |

| What was your fashion style when you were younger.? Posted: 6/1/2008 4:05:02 AM | I was grungey! Kurt Cobain was my role model when it came to fashion!
Now I just wear what I like the look of.
As for today...... teens have Chav, Emo, Goth, Slutty, geek, freak or fashion victim to choose from...... and all seem to revolve around being stick thin.

| What was your fashion style when you were younger.? Posted: 6/1/2008 10:57:34 AM | Most of the time i've done my own thing really. The only exception being in my early teens - mid 80's - when it seemed more important to fit in. then, it was lemon or pink polo shirts, like TheCommander says (Le Shark, because we couldn't afford Lacoste!), what can only be described as silver shimmery trousers with coloured flecks in it, and a pair of suede Puma trainers!!! For a kid who had most of his clothes from Woolworths, it was some transformation back then!! | |

| What was your fashion style when you were younger.? Posted: 6/1/2008 11:39:05 AM | Hmmm ive been doing a bit of clearing out in the loft today,i found all the obligitory old childhood photos and christ what a sight for sore eyes i was. It seems the late 70,s were particuarly cruel fashion wise, 1 deeply offensive photo of a cross eyed child dressed in a brown cordroy dress complete with long cream socks and brown brogues!.
1 equally depressing pic of bog eyed child displaying a fetching deep green and cream floral smock.

Foxy, in the complex, harsh and barrier-strewn world of internet dating, it's refreshing to find a lady with such simple requirements in a man
Yeah, the seventies for me were very much a time of 'wearing what I was bought', which was, needless to say, absolutely a million miles away from even the most hopeless fashions of the time. 'Brown' ruled pretty much.......flared jeans, big collars, psychedelic shirts, unbelievably spazzy shoes and big wavy hair.......
Noooooooo, hair, why did you have to leeaveee meeee????!!!

| What was your fashion style when you were younger.? Posted: 6/2/2008 1:45:41 AM | In the 70s it was flare jeans, tops that had flowers and collars as big as houses on them.
In the 80s the hair and shoulder pads where so big you had to go sideways to get through the door.
The 90s polka dots and dangarees (?) and 3 sizes bigger clothes.
Today jeans, tightish tops, heels and law and behold skirts.

| What was your fashion style when you were younger.? Posted: 6/2/2008 1:58:28 AM | Dear god I am so out of touch I actually had to look up what a "Chav" is and came up with this that made me giggle
'Chav or Charv/Charver is a mainly derogatory slang term in the United Kingdom for a subcultural stereotype fixated on fashions such as gold jewellery and 'designer' clothing. They are generally considered to have no respect for society, as well as being considered ignorant or unintelligent.
Well in answer to your question, I think I had a crappy sense of dress when I was younger as I didn't want to comform to any known "group". SO is there a group for "dressed whatever the parents threw at me group", if not then I vote we set it up as a new style....
