| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 8:34:16 AM | Ok, I read this over and over. "I need a guy that can keep up with me." What the heck does this mean??? Last I checked, most men can out run women. A little in-sight would be nice. Especially from the women that are searching for guys that can keep up. | |
|
| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 8:35:56 AM | | I think it probably means something like opposites need not apply? If she works out at the gym everyday and jogs every morning, she probably wants a man who can keep up with her lifestyle. Not a couch potato. | |
|
| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 8:40:41 AM | The two things I think of when I read this in a profile: -Looking for a gentle way of saying they don't want an overweight person. OR -Expressing that they live a very busy/hectic lifestyle and they want someone who can put up with constant work, hobbies, parties, or whatever. | |
|
| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 9:03:15 AM | It could and probably does mean a myriad of certain things and encompasses all of the things the above posters offered.
Could also mean: -intellectually -sense of humor wise -sexually
When you come across this why don't you email and ask? Maybe this would be interesting to learn what such a generic statement means in some people's perception.

| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 9:58:00 AM | | Are you sure it's not a typo and she left the word "it" out? | |
|
| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 10:12:57 AM | | Shadow and clasact have it nailed. It means they don't want a "couch potato," or a guy who's boring in bed. | |
|
| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 11:37:39 AM | wouldn't it be nice if they specified on that one! i think i had it on my profile once and I meant keep up with my wits and such. intelligence is important to me. but most men took it as meaning in the bed. lol i was like whoooaaa wait one minute!!
so specifying would be nice.
but i think they mean in life in general. keep up with their lifestyle.

| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 12:08:31 PM | | i think u brought up a hilarious point...i think girls that do this (and i've seen this line before) actually are insecure and want to explemplify this super "perception" of themselves so that it keeps the guy "on his toes" & ignites a continous interest from him.....it's best to be one's self and withdrawal from the ooh-ahhh game playing drama. | |
|
| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 12:18:38 PM | | I don't think that any female that puts that on their profile is intending it in a sexual notion. I believe they feel that there is some aspect of their life that is busy and hectic and they need someone that can understand. Perhaps they're all night partiers and need someone that has a well conditioned liver to keep up with the drinking abuse- I mean seriously what female really wants to be able to drink down more than their male dates? Or perhaps their minds run a million miles a minute and if a guy is more in a slower place jokes and random babble will be lost on him. I do agree that a couch potato type would not be wanted in any of the situations. Goals and ambitions are definitely going to be needed in a guy... probably also hobbies and a life beyond a couch. "I need a guy that can keep up with me" is really just a nice version of "losers need not apply" | |
|
| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 12:30:50 PM | Hmmm....well, men overall, can run faster than women however, woman can run longer; better in the endurance and distance even if at a slower pace. Maybe that's why we give birth and men don't. That's the longest damn marathon I've ever run!
"I need a guy that can keep up with me." My sense is that if a woman puts this in their profile, they're looking for a man who leads a compatible life style of being active. No couch sitting, remote control clicking, beer guzzling, sedated men.

| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 1:21:53 PM | I first loged onto this site about a year an a half ago. And the few women that's had that in their profile about "keeping up with me" I think all three of them were total smart a$$'s and thought they was cute but was totally anoying and I slowly put space between me and them. One of them I met in person and the intire time I was there she sit and talked about how good of shape she was in and how much she walked and yata yata yata. ME"ME"ME"ME ~N~E~X~T~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | |

| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 1:38:34 PM | | I think it translates too 'I'm feisty and impatient, hopefully you find that attractive'. | |
|
| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 2:13:33 PM | LMAO at all the possible misinterpretations and negative assumptions of one small sentence that could mean any number of positive things. If all else fails....ASK! It's a great opening line and communication's a wonderful thing.
Oh did I mention that I have it listed on my profile and with all the pages of email I get I hardly think it sends anyone running away. Although in all fairness...as one poster stated, I do state EXACTLY what I mean by it and that may make all the difference to those who are.............put off/scared off..... by what someone posts on their profile.
Remember, we all express ourselves differently through pics and words and who's to say what bait works best! I've had some pretty darn funny first emails based on that statement which definitely caught my attention and started the ball rolling into what became great connections.....so if in doubt with anyone else's profile, ask.
BTW...I'm not impatient at all, not insecure, and a definite smarta$$ in a jokester way as stated below especially IF the situation calls for it (like now..lol). Oh yeah...and I'm absolutely fiesty .... and proud of it! : ) Now can you keep up with all of that?
Part.....of my profile!
Hereditary traits (Ha!) turned me into a FirstClasSmartass to the max, who banters with the best of them, & loves a challenge if you think you can keep up with me? Rest assured, my jokester wit is never meant to offend, only to stimulate your mind & create a smile. If in doubt, ask to prevent misinterpretations & if you can’t handle it, please tell me and the Ms.ChievousAngel in me will back down.

| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 2:14:41 PM | | Well it can mean several things. It could mean sexually or it could be no boring couch potato types. It could refer to lazy or no motivation. It could mean running long distance lol. | |
|
| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 4:58:24 PM | It's not in my profile but when I say this it means a couple things:
1. Don't be mundane, un-creative or lousy in bed...expect a high sex drive (and when I want it, I want it).
2. Don't be a couch potato or non-sociable. If you aren't in shape, you're not for me, because I like to stay in shape, and it's not gonna change regardless of who I date.
If you're non sociable, expect me to go a lot of places without you when I am in the mood to get out and about, as I won't stifle my lifestyle. I'm not one to stay home all the time and do nothing.
3. Have a lot of activities, friends, things to do - because I do as well. Having some of the same activities as I do is ideal, but if not - then we need to be able to spend time apart doing separate things.

| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 6:53:06 PM | I tend to think it means mentally and more specifically "keep up with me in conversation."
I tried to put that into words anyone could follow with "I like talkers" and I do like talkers.

| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 7:13:31 PM | She runs really really fast and wants to be chased.............
In other words.............she wants a man with STAMINA.....

| Keep up with me Posted: 6/1/2008 7:55:34 PM |
I tend to think it means mentally and more specifically "keep up with me in conversation." Yeah add that to my list too as #4...a man who not is not only conversational, but intelligent, a reader, likes to learn...that's a must...
