Posted: 6/1/2008 6:45:19 PM | This doesn't happen to me very often, but everyone I've talked to says its weird.
Sometimes, when having really good sex (or masturbating), it feels so good that I start to see things. If my eyes are closed, or the room is dark, I'll see images of beautiful sunsets, or trees, beaches. Or I'll see flashes of color or repeating geometric patterns. I'll see clouds, rainbows, spirals; it's kind of random and usually very colorful. Sometimes objects in the room will transform or whatever. The visuals are reminiscent of cinematic depictions of LSD. (Though I have never tried it and I don't think ever will.) If I either stop the sex act, or I orgasm, that state ends, and I'm back to reality.
The actually experience doesn't bother me... the visuals are beautiful, and when I slip into that state I feel so blissful and euphoric. (That state feels better than the actual orgasm that follows it.) I would actually miss it if for some reason it never happened again.
What concerns me, is I don't know anyone who has ever had anything like that, and I'm wondering if maybe it might indicate some medical problem I don't know about yet. | |

Posted: 6/1/2008 8:48:36 PM | I sort of had that once while masturbating while high on pot... I had images in my head that I hadn't seen since I was a small child, like 3 or 4 years old at the MOST. As I would fall asleep, as a child, I would have these images based on my breathing pattern. Inhaling and exhaling. There was an image to go along with the feeling of air passing through my nose, one for the feeling in my throat, one for my heartbeat, etc. But yeah, pot was involved.

I dont have this during sex (damn) but I do have it right before sleep and in meditative states, I dont usually remember what the visuals were so I write them down sometimes and come up with some wacky stuff lol. I think if I was relaxed enough with a partner I would experience this. Anyway, yeah DEEP BREATHE, while its pleasant, and euphoric, it can also mean brain damging lack of oxygen, if you are really relaxed and get your heart rate down by going slow and basically "staring at the back of your eyelids" and not thinking about anything else, you can esperience this healthfully. Anyway good luck! Now I have some awesome new ideas for the next time I get down n duuurty lol.  | |

I know its not hyperventillation, because I know what that's like. (I've done it intentionally before (it was an exercise in part of a stress reduction class.))
I think its some kind of trance. Some nights I have lucid dreams (a dream where you know you are dreaming, and you have some control over it.) Sometimes when waking up from one, I end up in a tingly-everywhere state where I can't really feel my body... it feel like the nitrous gas they use at the dentist. After it happened spontaneously a few times, I learned how to control it. If I'm sleepy enough to sleep, I can just lay down and if I choose, to, instead of falling asleep, I'll just slip into being high. | |

Posted: 6/2/2008 9:38:42 PM | there's all kinds of crazy chemicals and hormones in our brains and bodies and when guys are aroused, the blood is usually draining from the head, so yeh, i'd say it's fairly normal. if you have lucid dreams, then chances are you've got a touch more seratonin, dopamine, or DMT in your brain than the average bloke.

Posted: 6/4/2008 10:19:50 PM | It's not hallucination. Your mind has gone off on a journey to the unknown, wherever that may be. I've studied Shamanism quite extensively. Shamanism is a way of exploring your subconcious mind and altering realities so to speak. It's also a form of meditating. It could be that when you are in this mode, you feel comfortable, obviously relaxed enough to let yourself go into the transcendent state required for journeywork. Journeys tend to happen in your familiar places, either in nature or other types of surroundings.
Welcome to the altered state of conciousness. Very achievable without using drugs or alcohol, pain and intense sensations can get you "there" as well. Once the endorphine rush kicks in, you're gone. A better rush than being stoned. If you're into bdsm at all, you can also achieve Top or Sub space, with the endorphine rush. Once the endorphine's have kicked in, you will feel like you are drunk, stoned or otherwise influenced, you can feel dizzy, lightheaded or just simply, not there. It's important afterwards, to drink lots of juice or eat something light (no sugar). Otherwise you can seriously crash and burn. | |
