| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/3/2008 12:07:23 PM | Well I have to admit that I am a die hard "Azzuri" fan so therefore ITALY is my number one hopeful!! Although, due to the latest news that one of our star players and strikers (Cannavaro) was injured in a practice yesterday and will now be sitting out for the entire Euro Cup Season do to his injuries I cannot help but feel as though it could be a bad omen for them. Nevertheless, it truly is anyone's game!!!!
If Italy gets knocked out then Im going with Holland or Germany. I'm going to support my Man's heritage teams

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/4/2008 1:46:24 PM | | hopefully portugal, but even though canavaro is hurt Italy still has a solid team | |

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/6/2008 8:58:39 PM | | I used to live in Switzerland when I was a kid, so they are my "homeboys" but being realistic I will pick Germany. It's been awhile since they have picked up a trophy and their history in this competition is untouchable. But who cares, as long as the football contains some attacking quality. I can always dream, can't I? | |

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/6/2008 11:15:13 PM | | well its going to be wide open because no team is on top of its game than others but i will have to go for Italy because they have the most experience players in their team | |

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/11/2008 2:25:28 PM | Heartbreaking for the Switzerland team tonight....
From what I've seen so far I would say the Portugese are peaking too early....Germany & Italy know how to play tournaments very methodical & that's why they consistently win them. It'd take something from Italy to come back from the whipping they took in the opening game especially as defensively they looked shocking...not something you normally say about the Italians.
So I'd stick with Germany...room for improvement but will still win even when not at their best....that's generally how the winners perform.
I would like to see a Portugal v Spain final.

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/11/2008 4:31:01 PM | | Oh I think Portugal can't be seen to be "peaking" at all. Spain looked far more convincing. Portugal were very suspect at the back, their keeper is a disaster on crosses and set pieces...I think they will have to improve immensely at the back...if they do, they have fantastic attacking quality. | |

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/12/2008 10:02:11 AM | Holland looks great on field that is for sure!!!
I would love to see Italy come back and really show us what their made of (especially after Monday's big loss) but if not I am content with Germany or Holland taking it all. Both teams are strong and definitely know where they are at all times on the field. Their coordination is really good.

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/12/2008 12:53:06 PM | | but Holland can always be suspect in defense... personally I loved watching them continue to push even after they had a lead. no bunker down and protect it, they kept going. I think at this point I'd say Germany, and I'm good with anyone winning it but Portugal... | |
|
| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/12/2008 12:56:31 PM | I backed Germany all the way until today, then their defence has looked very suspect tonight against Croatia.
Might just be a blip however & they should still easily qualify from the group.

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/12/2008 1:35:14 PM | I hope the whiny Italians loose! They're always going on about how great they are and when they do loose they cry in their pasta like babies (it's sooooo damn funny). They always put on a really entertaining show when on the field throwing tantrums and faking injuries. I don't care who wins as long as it's not Italy. | |

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/12/2008 1:42:20 PM | Agreed.
I always love the getting on the knees & praying piece as well...usually after some scandalously bad tackle or a dive.
Neil Ruddock used to do a cracking impression of that.

| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/12/2008 2:33:17 PM | | what we've seen so far it has to be portugal and i think they will get better. holland looked good but italy did create quite a few chances in that game it was never a 3-0 game more a 1-0 and you never know with the dutch from one day to another. german's got shown up today for how good they really are. spain on the other hand did look good but far to early to make mind up about them. | |
|
| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/13/2008 4:13:09 AM | Croatia could be the dark horses, Rakitic, Krancjar and Modric have plenty of flair and creativity between them.
Germany are too shaky at the back, whilst Portugal and Spain both pose a valid threat-, you cant write the Azzuri off just yet, and the Dutch have a tendency to press the self destruct button.
I'd love Austria to beat Germany though
|
| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/13/2008 11:32:28 AM | | I was chatting with a friend before it started and mentioned Croatia. I don't know if they can go all the way, but I think they can make a mess of it for some other teams. They put a lot of energy into that Germany match. I enjoyed watching it. I am not however enjoying watching the Portuguese fall down all the time looking for the whistle. | |
|
| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/13/2008 1:20:31 PM | | Can we PLEASE PLEASE stop calling the Italians "World Champions"!!!! They are a mediocre team as best by European standards...wont even make it to the Quarters. Looks like the Dutch are the team to beat thus far.Portugal & Spain as well..Maybe the young guns from Spain can keep up the momentum. | |
|
| Euro 2008 (soccer) Winner? Posted: 6/13/2008 1:37:37 PM | Another very good performance from Holland tonight, France in real trouble so alongside Portugal they look like the best 2 teams so far.
Well done the Dutch | |
