| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/3/2008 4:04:50 PM | They are complete bullsh1t! There is no miracle pill, if there was then no one would be fat anymore and we'd all be investing in stocks of this famous pill.
The only way to get rid of any kind of fat is to diet and exercise and if it's stomach fat that your worried about, your more likely to lose it by cardio and stomach crunches.

| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/3/2008 4:37:01 PM | | WHY are people still asking if diet pills work????? Liposuction and all these fad diets wouldn't EXIST if some magic pill made it go away. Do some sit ups. | |

You can't target specific clumps of fat with diet.
You can't target specific clumps of fat with exercise.
The qty and locations of your fat cells is set in late adolescence. The volume of fat within your fat cells varies 400x. It's up to you to be at the 400 end or at the low end.
To lose your paunch, you lose it all over until the paunch meets your objective, hoping other parts are too bony for ya.

| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/3/2008 5:55:04 PM | I never fully believe people that say "They don't work" as there is usually some truth to every story...results may be exaggerated but results are result...
As I understand, there are some pills which will speed up your metabolism, which should make your body burn more fat. But, don't expect the results you see in the ads. You probably won't go from fat to fabulous in JUST SIX WEEKS or your money back...
I like to think of it this way. Sure, they make me cut by themselves, but if they expedite the process, just a little, the investment has paid off.
Excersize with weights, just a little each day, full body workout like you can get from almost any muscle fitness magazine, etc.
15 or 30 minutes a day will assist you in burning more calories. I think it was DutchPirate who mentioned that working out makes you more hungry?? Anwyays, it' true, if you consciencsouly watch what you eat, you will notice you will eat more to compensate for the loss of calories. Drink more water to stablize those additional hunger pains.

I never fully believe people that say "They don't work" as there is usually some truth to every story...results may be exaggerated but results are result... If you ever read the fine print on the bottles or on the commercials, it states that weight loss can be acheived by taking the pill, along with a balanced diet and exercise. Hmm... if your following a balanced diet and excersing, then I suppose you don't need the pill in the first place. Your right in that there is some truth to it, however, I have never in my life met someone who reached thier goal... or came even close, by taking a pill once or twice a day.

| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/3/2008 6:35:21 PM | | Just an interesting fact for those who didn't know. Many years ago they're in fact WAS a pill that made people lose a lot of weight... but it wasn't so much a pill as a tapeworm egg... haha it just ate all your food and eventually you died of malnutrition. | |

| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/3/2008 9:00:24 PM | Sometimes walks just won't cut it for some people. Diet and lifestyle play a big roll in weight loss, so does eating the random chocolate...which I will address later.
Here are a few tips:
1. Cut down on all things that have tones of sugar - Sugar in general is bad for you, this include pop, chocolate bars and cereal.
2. Eat lots of fruits - Your body DOES need sugar, but natural sugar. Fruit is also high in fiber which will make you less hungry.
3. Drink lots of water - LOTS - You know that 8 cups of water a day rule? Well double it..better yet, triple it! I drink 4 liters of water during a 8 hour work day. It will cause you to pee allot, but it will also keep your stomach full, which will give your brain the false sensation of being "full"
4. eating 4 to 5 times a day - eating small meals often will keep your metabolism constantly working, which helps you burn energy and calories.
5. Never skip a meal - If you miss one, it ok but don't make it a habit. Your body will start to store fat because your body needs energy to burn.
6. Work out - The more muscles you have, the more fat you burn. Don't worry, you can train super hard and you will never look freakish like some female body builders. They look that way because they take steroids to achieve that look. A natural female body can only get toned and fit with heavy weights.
7. Calories - Do some research on the internet - see what your body height to weight to age ratio is and see where you're at. An average female should consume anywhere between 1800-2100 calories a day. Again you'll have to do some research about how much you should be consuming because you know your lifestyle better than I.
8. Sleep - This is a BIG one. Everyone knows your body needs rest, but did you know it also triggers your weight loss and gain? Try having a consistent sleep routine. Try getting between 7 to 8 hrs a night. If you can't try 6-7. Anything less than 6 is just not healthy and will catch up to you eventually.
9. Don't eat before you go to sleep - If you do feel yourself being hungry, make yourself a small fruit salad. Half an apple, banana, peach, and a few strawberries. You can use the other halves for your snacks the next day. (but not for a meal) Remember when sleeping your body does not need as much energy, so everything slows down including your metabolism.
10. snacks - If you do need to snack, eat seeds or fruit. Maybe have a protein bar. Stay away from sugary products and things with lots of carb's. Chocolate is a no no. Period. Too much sugar in a tiny piece, not really worth it.
11. Don't mistaken fat for fat - Fat in food does not make a person fat. It's what you eat and how much of it you eat.
12. Keep your portions small - Don't eat till your full, and eat slow. Your stomach needs time to register how much food you've eaten. The slower you eat, the less food you'l l need. Always get to the point of being satisfied.
Lucky 13. Keep this in mind when working out/walking/running. It doesn't make sense to eat a chocolate bar that has 140 calories just to say well, I'll just run it off in an hour. yes you'll run it off in one hour, but you'll only break even. After running for an hour you might lose those 140 calories, but to get any gains you'll need to run another hour to actually lose calories.

Dark chocolate in limited quantity has some beneficial qualities.
Exercise targeted to a specific area may not make you lose weight in that area, but it does tone and build the muscles underneath, so you will look better with less weight loss (unless you have a lot to lose).
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/3/2008 10:26:53 PM | | Water and naturally water rich foods will help lose weight. The key is water! Eat at least 70% water rich foods (vegetables and low carb fruits) and you will lose the weight. Sit up doesn't cause weight loss I used to do 60 to 80 a day never lose an inch that way. | |
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/4/2008 8:30:49 AM | When ephedra was used those pills did work, but since its been banned in the US the diet pills are a bunch of flack. Dont waste your money.
Eat a healthy diet consisting of whole foods, cut the junk out, cut the sugar out drink lots of water and exercise intensly and you will be happy with the results.

| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/6/2008 2:17:01 PM | The post above is not very responsible. I found the following on an Air Toxics website:
Hazard Summary-Created in April 1992; Revised in January 2000
2,4-Dinitrophenol is used in the manufacture of dyes, wood preservatives, and as a pesticide. The acute (short-term) effects of 2,4-dinitrophenol in humans through oral exposure are nausea, vomiting, sweating, dizziness, headaches, and loss of weight. Chronic (long-term) oral exposure to 2,4-dinitrophenol in humans has resulted in the formation of cataracts and skin lesions, weight loss, and has caused effects on the bone marrow, central nervous system (CNS), and cardiovascular system. Limited or no information is available on the developmental, reproductive, or carcinogenic effects of 2,4-dinitrophenol in humans. EPA has not classified 2,4-dinitrophenol for carcinogenicity.

Would like to add:
1. Stop eating processed food as much as possible.
2. DISPROPORTIONATE Belly fat is often an indicator of high or low blood sugar. By this I do not mean a "spare tire". I mean specifically fat on the belly that is disproporionate to the rest of the body.

| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/9/2008 3:15:12 AM | | Lol I can't believe you even mentioned DNP in this thread. Anyway, todays diet pills don't work and there is some good advice in this thread! Eat clean, calorie control, workout, sleep, be consistent = win! On another note, how much alcohol are you drinking? Maybe there are factors in your diet (like alcohol, soft drinks, creamy coffees with treats) that you aren't taking into account? | |
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/9/2008 7:55:56 PM | Yes, the Ephedra-based pills worked better (Ripped Fuel worked best for me, but Xenadrine didn't do jack), but there are some on today's market that work. I used one a couple of times over the past few years, it's made by Ergopharms, called Ergolean AMP. I felt a noticeable energy boost, no jitters, and when I worked out I trimmed up a bit after a couple weeks. Not every diet supplement will work for every individual, due to that individual's body chemistry, etc....but, the key to ALL of them, is that to see the results, you need to have a regular exercise regimen and proper nutrition....the pills themselves won't do shit if you don't work out and eat properly. That's just my 2 cents though....
Oh, and you can still buy Ephedrine by itself to make your own ECA stack if you so desire...just gotta look around.
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/9/2008 9:13:24 PM | Unless your exercising consistently(5 days a week with a program of weights and conditioning) along with a sensible nutrition plan, you will not lose weight and be able to keep it off. Hard work is the only way to get there. Making that choice is entirely up to you, but a healthy lifestyle pays off in the longrun.
And as far as diet pills go, that crap is garbage and nothing but caffeine in a concentrated form with other herbs added for a synergistic effect. Use em all you want if you so desire, but your getting jipped and have fun trying to ween yourself off them when your finished with the bottle.
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/9/2008 10:32:09 PM | | Ween yourself off of them? You make it sound like taking fat burners is like having a coke habit... There's no 'weening' needed whatsoever. You take them to supplement your workout and nutrition plans, and then you cycle off of them for a while....wash, rinse, repeat until you reach your desired result. All they do is help you get where you want a little quicker....it's not like you're going on a meth bender for a couple weeks to drop the weight or anything. | |
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/10/2008 2:56:55 AM | | Erm, isn't ephedrine illegal for fat burning purposes now, meaning no otc suppliments contain it? I know one type of cough medicine still contains it, but I think thats also off the market too. If you are reffering to any of the other sources still around on the net then they are faaaaaaaaaaaar too expensive to be practical. | |
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/11/2008 1:23:32 PM | Try cutting down on bread. Not even wheat bread.
Green tea is better than diet pills in my opinion.
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/13/2008 7:25:02 PM | Some mentioned sleep, it's good because not sleeping causes an increase in a hormone which causes hunger (g...something).
Caffeine (coffee and chocolate) increases cardiac output (exercise longer) and increases fat breakdown.
AM workouts will take advantage of the peak cortisol levels in your blood (increases fat breakdown)
There was a study done lately that found that spot reduction does work. I don't know if it has been replicated, but, you need to do cardio (for 15-20 minutes?), then start doing intervals of cardio with, in your case, sit-ups, to increase the blood flow in the area you want to decrease the fat. The fat that is moved into the blood stream from your belly will be oxidized in your leg muscles. I've tried it with my deltoids and it seems to work.
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/13/2008 9:34:40 PM | Yes there is actually a pill that helps you lose weight. They are only prescribed by a physician. It is quite expensive however, and you must meet the BMI criteria before your physician will prescribe it to you. The following is a list of weight loss pills that you can research and discuss with your Doctor. The most commonly used prescription diet pills are: Phentermine, Xenical, Meridia, Bontril, Adipex and Ionamin. Be careful in your research though, and make sure that you are aware of the side-effects involved. | |
|
| hmmm F**** chub chub Posted: 6/14/2008 2:04:05 AM | And when one stops taking the pill? All the weight comes back?
I saw a weight loss thingy in W-M drug aisle. Green tea + caffeine + hoodia, supposedly some kind of chemical "fat burner/metabolism booster". $4.
On the front of the package in big letters, it said something lik "Works best with diet and exercise"
