The Senate Intelligence Committee finally issued its report on prewar intelligence during build up to the Iraq War, the report confirms that Bush lied to the American people about the Iraq War.

The Committee’s report cites several conclusions in which the Administration’s public statements were NOT supported by the intelligence. They include:

* Statements and implications by the President and Secretary of State suggesting that Iraq and al-Qa’ida had a partnership, or that Iraq had provided al-Qa’ida with weapons training, were not substantiated by the intelligence.
* Statements by the President and the Vice President indicating that Saddam Hussein was prepared to give weapons of mass destruction to terrorist groups for attacks against the United States were contradicted by available intelligence information.
* Statements by President Bush and Vice President Cheney regarding the postwar situation in Iraq, in terms of the political, security, and economic, did not reflect the concerns and uncertainties expressed in the intelligence products.
* Statements by the President and Vice President prior to the October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate regarding Iraq’s chemical weapons production capability and activities did not reflect the intelligence community’s uncertainties as to whether such production was ongoing.
* The Secretary of Defense’s statement that the Iraqi government operated underground WMD facilities that were not vulnerable to conventional airstrikes because they were underground and deeply buried was not substantiated by available intelligence information.
* The Intelligence Community did not confirm that Muhammad Atta met an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague in 2001 as the Vice President repeatedly claimed.

Simply stated, there is no doubt that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Rice are liars, and this is evidence of war crimes.

The way to save face with the rest of the world is war crimes trial, impeachment, and incarceration.

This is interesting, because this information has LONG been known...

My question is this, WHY at the end of their running term is it JUST coming out... Will they be held accountable for their war crimes after leaving office?

Will it change the fact that NOW Iraq is such a war torn country that THE US will be responsible for who knows how long to try and repair it?

It is great to know we were lied to, which doesn't come as a surprise in the least to those of us who had watched the lies unfolding. Some of us Americans were well aware of what was going on, because we don't sit and watch the propoganda machine ran by the government, called the associate press. As though what they print and release to the public isn't sensored, and lives are threatened if the truth at that time actually is printed. As well, for those that actually do slip the truth out, a retraction is immediately printed, and those that had the audacity to go against the rules disappear from news reporting, or end up doing stories on puppy care for the rest of their lives...

The way to save face is to treat those that have perpetuated war crimes against another country as well as are own is to try them as traitors of the US of A, why, because they cost a lot of people in Iraq AND our own country thier lives, which are irreplacable, and this was all based on what??????

Who profited by this perpetuated lies?????

Republican Senators fought very hard to prevent the release of this intel report back in 2004 to insure Bush's re-election, at the time the Senate Intelligence Committee was chaired by Pat Roberts (R-KS). And, they wouldn't release this report back in 2006 to protect their own re-elections.

Who profited was the military suppliers, politicians, and of course the big oil companies. With keeping Iraq war torn, all that cheap oil was guaranteed to stay in the ground and not flooding the market. Supply and demand. Keeping the Iraqi oil off the market meant that other oil companies could profit, and anyone with a car is now noticing this.

It's plain to see, but some will still not want to look, for none are so blind as those who do not wish to see. America's military was used to secure profits for companies. The goal was never to get the Iraqi oil, but to impede it's flow to the market.

That is still being a traitor of the US, we were brought into the war to insure a profit for others, NOT to the benefit of IRAQ, which the deception was spread to all corners of the world.

Of course it the intell was blocked... However the word is out, and impeachment, nahhhh.... I say hold them for being traitors, because they BETRAYED the trust of the country, and the world for their OWN gains....

There was blatant misuse of power of the government, and the military...

I KNOW there are a LOT of LEMMINGS that would believe anything the pied pipers have said, and NEVER want to believe a Christian man would do this to hurt anyone...

YEAH RIGHT, and I have a Bridge in Brooklyn for sale...

This kind of thinking is what makes people traitors..

Merely thinking something doesn't make a person a traitor, nor does speaking your mind ( you WERE fighting for everybody's freedoms, right?)..............

Thank you for your service to the country, but that gives you ZERO right to tell anybody else they don't have the right to an opinion & free expression thereof.

Well Bush wanted to go down in history. He’s got the whole worse president in American history title tied up. But heck if we hang him for Treason, (and lying us into a war is Treason) that will really cement his place in the history books.

Think of the little children in there history classes a hundred years from now learning about the first US President hung for Treason.

The traditional punishment for treason in time of war is hanging.

^^^^^^^^^^^There ya go, the WAR PRESIDENT getting his just earnings for lying to a nation and the world, and commiting fraud and treason against his own country and those of the world....

Warriordawg, it is interesting that you are accusing ME of being a democrat when YOU DON'T know me... I am NEITHER...

Both sides are as crooked and criminal as you can get...

However when you count the # of lives of Iraqi's lost from just this war compared to Saddams 20 yr reign WHICH by the way he was set up into his position BY our own country... Then ask the question, why is it that MORE Iraqi's died in this war, than in the 20 yrs of Saddams reign of terror...

If our military goes to war based on a lie, it is a lie NO MATTER WHAT...

If I remember correct, which at my age memory is sometimes not as strong, but in Bosnia, there wasn't as much American military involvement as there was in Iraq, let alone were there as many deaths of American troops...

With as many deployed troops, do you boys HONESTLY think I have NO CLUE what has went on, all considering, I TOO know, and KNEW people who served in Iraq... These people WEREN'T on kitchen duty...

Now comes the question of this.......why obama, billary and john I’ll need a cane soon, arent talking about holding oil companies accountable for fraud and price gouging and what they are going to do about high gas prices?

How about how to get out of the coming depression?

How they will END the war in Iraq .

And why aren’t they talking about killing the Patriot Act?

What are they REALLY getting from the prez candidates?

Change? What are they really going to change? Hmmm

IS IT JUST more of the same $h*t, different @$$ hole!

All the people who lied us into Iraq had different reasons. Cheney for oil and Haliburton of course. Rice wanted to please her boss, the guy she had a crush on. Tenet wanted to keep his job. Powel because he saw himself as the ultimate soldier, to serve his higher up. Rummy wanted a do-over of '92. And Bush wanted revenge for his daddy and to prove he was tough guy and not just a petulant frat boy who never grew up. And even if they also wanted to improve the region they wrapped their hope in a bunch of spin and lies.

The unfortunate part is that they all worked at the same place at the same time. The outrage is that they'll retire to lives of luxury without serving a day in prison.

So you're not informed, yet you pass judgment. You're kept in the dark about what's been happening, but you point blame. Aren't you the slightest bit inquisitive into why you were sent over to a desert? Look at the proof that the lead up to war was manufactured and packaged propaganda. Soldiers we're lied to and used as tools for profit.

You have the honest to goodness reason for why you're there? Do tell. What is the reason now?

I'm not your enemy, you were sent there for a lie, it's been revealed now that intelligence was manufactured, this is a war of choice.

I absolutely agree with you and thank you for your service that allows the rest of us the freedom to express our views on POF.

Bush and Company did not see it with their own eyes they only HEARD:
1. about WDMs
2. that Iraq and al-Qa’ida had a partnership, or that Iraq had provided al-Qa’ida with weapons training,
3. that Saddam Hussein was prepared to give weapons of mass destruction to terrorist groups for attacks against the United States
4. Iraq’s chemical weapons production capability
5. that the Iraqi government operated underground WMD facilities that were not vulnerable to conventional airstrikes
6. that Muhammad Atta met an Iraqi intelligence officer in Prague in 2001
And it was not substantiated by the intelligence.

TxCntry and WarriorDawg, this isn't about your perspective on the war. This is about the how and why it was started in the first place. I would never bash an American soldier, because it is not their choice to ask how or why. They simply follow orders. So, to those of you who are actively serving, Godspeed and may you make it home alive and in one piece. But, to the those in the Bush administration who clearly lied and misrepresented the facts leading up to this mess we now have in Iraq. I hope one day justice finds you.

This thread isn't about how the war is being conducted. It's about how 4000+ young men and women were sent to their death for the profit of this administration. What price do you put on those soldiers? Don't hold your breath thinking that Bush will ever pay that price. With that in mind, you should be ashamed of yourself for defending someone who doesn't give a crap about any of those soldiers so long as they are killing to increase his already huge bank account.

Any one who knowingly took a part in this deception should be tried and if found guilty should be sent to jail, this is not about the brave young men and woman who fought this war, this is about lying and manipulating information by people entrusted with managing our country

History should record the events and the results of this time period, if lies and deception are proved in a court of law history should show that anyone who knowingly participated in this deception was tried and sent to prison for life

QUOTE: There was blatant misuse of power of the government, and the military...

I KNOW there are a LOT of LEMMINGS that would believe anything the pied pipers have said, and NEVER want to believe a Christian man would do this to hurt anyone...

^^^ I'm not a Christian myself but personally I think the guy's a fake Christian, basically. Clearly a total hypocrite, if he even believes in it at all and didn't just use it to shore up the "Christian Right" southerner vote. I think he's at heart a very cold, cynical, calculating man, a ruthless uber-capitalist, a plutocrat and military-industrialist. If the majority of his base here were Muslim, he'd be that. And anyway how can so many of the people who actually took part in at least the initial bombing be such devout Christians (supposedly) either?? What's Jesus-like about "shock and awe" terrorist bombings which cause untold civilian deaths and maimings?? But that's another topic...

Bush spent half (or more) of his life as basically a typical spoiled rich brat from the East Coast going to all the best schools and what-not (and so what's with the later-adopted good ol'boy Texan twang??), getting away with everything because of who his dad and grandfather were, living a wealthy but empty booze and drug-addled "rich punk" -type of lifestyle.

The fact he got elected in this country (and twice -- if he indeed legitimately did the first time, and only by the narrowest margin the second time) should be proof that anyone can do anything if they've got enough money and the right family connections, but that's about as far as his presidency goes for "inspirational". I don't blame his wife, or his kids, not even his dad. I lay the blame solely on him , his VP, the warmongering circle that surrounded them (the now largely discredited "neo-con think tank" clique that would want McCain to attack Iran now), and many other higher-ups in their admin as well (from Powell & Rice to of course Rumsfeld, to all of the atty's who helped them create dubious legal cover for torture and illegal detentions).

Personally I'm realistic enough to not sit and wait for him or Cheney to ever be charged with anything (there's not much real justice, no). But what I can foresee more realistically happening at some point beyond January of '09 is an international court perhaps taking a closer look at the above mentioned atty's who helped create the dubious legal covers for torture and illegal detentions ~ which are war crimes and violations of Geneva.

Those atty's (Gonzales is one, Feith is another, Larry Addington still another) could well be indicted internationally some day, much like Pinochet and many others as well have been. And at that point they basically would no longer be free to travel the world as they please because they could well get that tap on the shoulder from some Interpol agents while taking the sun on a beach near one of their tax havens in Monaco.

TxCntryCowboy you are indeed right I personally haven't been over to Iraq.

However I did personally see that the return vet benefits have been repeatedly voted personally by bush and his war mongers to be reduced.

I have personally seen wonderful people come back different, and suffering such intense PTSD, that they don't know where they are at sometimes.

As repeatedly stated, this isn't about you, or any other soldier that has served. For your commitment, and unquestioning belief I thank YOU and all those who went and served, even when they knew in their hearts this was NOT a war for them to be in.

It is true, we may NEVER see this administration get what it really deserves, and that is one of the ugliest things of all. People suffered, lost lives, lost functions of their body from injury, for what? A just and true war, or a big lie that helped line many many peoples pockets, with out them even flinching that they were lying...

It pisses me off greatly to know that those who did something so horrific will get away with it, and live in the lap of major luxury while so many will struggle for who knows how many years...

That I have a problem with...

Why?

Where did all three Presidential contenders speak over the past couple of days?

AIPAC. They are more powerful than you might imagine. And the reason we give more money to one tiny country in the middle east than you can imagine. The one that we protect at ALL cost. The one that maintains a majority through ethnic cleansing.

Most of the rest of this world knows the truth, but anyone in this country who points this out gets labled with a very nasty, shameful label.

But that, in my informed opinion, is what this war was all about.
