Maybe this should have been posted in the politics forum but it goes beyond that.

I am SO SO sick of watching the news and seeing what is happening....

Things like...

Robert Mugabe... What the vile scum is doing right now.... You can bet that if they had oil in Zimbabwe... Bloodsucking leeches like America and UK would be over there like a shot.... But because they don't, they just 'condemn' the actions......... Well that's just Effing dandy... I condemn the Bush administration for screwing things up for everyone.. I condemn Blair for leading us into a war that most people didn't want.. I condemn Gordon Brown for all the taxes he keeps imposing on us...

Ok so i've condemned them..... wow ..... big deal.

China..... re: Human rights, .. Freedom of speech... etc......
Darfur (Sudan) ..... Humanitarian crisis.......

The US and UK governments sit there and take the absolute PISS out of the people ... WE are the people.. We are the ones they are supposed to represent.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?.........

The world is being overwhelmed by greed .... Everyone is so damn two faced.... Politicians are the most grotesque people on the planet... (lawyers/solicitors too) The utter drivel they talk

The directors of companies.... oil companies.. Rail/Bus companies... Starbucks... and clothes companies... Making HUGE profits..... They are taking the piss.

The media feed us with so much rubbish..... Many people now think that Iran is a nation of terrorists just because of the shite we are fed.... WHY? so that they can get public backing to bomb them like they didn't do enough of with Iraq?????

As people.... most are just sheep........ Most believe the crap they are read in the Sun.

We are the judges.... we are the ones making things happen, not some god....WE ARE... WE ... the people... But people really don't give a shit... and it's almost understandable because WHAT CAN WE DO?

Individually....... nothing.

What is wrong with us? There must be some way of gathering together as a massive population and taking back some of the piss that is being taken from us.

Is anyone else feeling the same? This is a massive issue and we are the only ones who can do anything about it.

DOES ANYONE ELSE FEEL ANGRY ABOUT THIS??????

baaaa...

Run for public office! Be the candidate of change! .... or.. ANOTHER candidate of change...

Yup, we're screwed... hang on and enjoy the spiral ride down the tube... pretend you're at a water park on a big slide.

There is nobody worth voting FOR, so we vote AGAINST... but then the winners take those as votes FOR them and they have a license to screw us...

And if you don't vote it's the same as bending over and grabbing your ankles...

A lot people think america is a two-party system. It is not. there are many parties, and many independant candidates. When the general american public wakes up and finally notices this, they may well shake Congress and the Senate up by voting in a few of these. Then a few more...making their political statement in that form. Until then...perhaps an independant incumbent who' "vision" of change can do something to take afew votes away...lose the first three or four elections...but then start running a real "grassroots" campaign.
Can it be done? Sure...a party called "Reform" did it in Canada. Another party called "Green" has come a long ways too. It takes time and commitment.

Use your vote.

Local politics is where your vote is noticed most. You get involved. I have worked with a group of people and have fought city hall and won on several occasions.

Volunteer on a local level for federal politics. That is how you start. And start by supporting the party that way you can understand what they represent and why they are how they are.

You make change by voting... you do count.

I have a feeling though that if we lived a few thousand years ago, we'd be even more distressed and angry with how the super amoeba (countries) were being run.

At least now we have an interconnected circulatory system (international trade/transport) and nervous system (communications network) between most of the super amoeba of this world.

Now what we really need is a more efficient immune system (world police!) and brain (world government!).
It's time to go super connected. All of the super amoeba must combine into Ultra Amoebus!

You may not want to hear this as it'll be taken as just the religious answer and we know how serious alot of people take religion!

But the bible describes the world, the way it was in the beginning, and so forth, yes, even how it will be at the time we're living in.

Wars and rumors of wars and famines and pestilences -Mt.24:6,7

The world full of violence - Luke 17:26

Violent weather, signs in the heavens - Luke 21:25

Progress toward a one world government - Dan. 7:23; 9:26

Peace will be desperately sought - 1 Thess. 5:3

1BUT UNDERSTAND this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].
2For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.

3[They will be] without natural [human] affection (callous and inhuman), relentless (admitting of no truce or appeasement); [they will be] slanderers (false accusers, troublemakers), intemperate and loose in morals and conduct, uncontrolled and fierce, haters of good.

4[They will be] treacherous [betrayers], rash, [and] inflated with self-conceit. [They will be] lovers of sensual pleasures and vain amusements more than and rather than lovers of God. - 2 Timothy 3: 1-4.

Gee, suprivaJ .... I hate to think of the religious "answer", because it is really quite frightening.

Looking at the above description though, doesn't it just describe what is happening now? It's even scarier to accept that most of the human race is "too far gone" already and have little-to-no morals or values ... or love of (or even fear of) God in them at all.

As for the politicians and such ... and "voting" to make changes ... I ask, WHO do you vote for that will actually make needed changes or be truly good honest person??? It seems there is no such thing as an honest politician (or any person in power) .... a truly good person wouldn't even make it to the polls!

Start by getting involved with city politics and work your way up. Attend city hall meetings, Urban League, school board, volunteer and get involved.

Again find a party that has the same philosophy as you and support them. The leader will then show up.

Remember that many issues are blown out of proportion by papers (not all!). Find a paper or reporter that tells it like it is... but don't just rely on one source.

Not all politicians are bad or corrupt. Understanding politics is the hard part...

I get sick of it too. Nothing but negative shit all the time. Why can't the news ever talk about anything that's happy for a change?

In this situation, I think that people would not be overly happy about the news that was good....

Would you really like to know that someone just became a multi millionaire?
(That's why people like watching soaps on TV... constant arguments.. etc)

I can't think of a single politician I would be happy to vote for. They are scum.

It just makes me so mad that we elect these people and they stand there in front of us lying through their teeth.

I wrote all that when i was watching the news and 3-4 news stories into it.

The bible is so full of words that people can pick any sentences from it.

I tried getting involved with politics years ago. Started out working on Perot's campaign.... you know how that turned out...

Got involved with the GOP at the local level and went to some meetings and conventions... It was just so discouraging...

The GOP and the DNC look at votes and seats the same way big company boards of directors look at a company's stock price and market share... They are only concerned about getting and maintaining seats for their party. And they will say or do whatever they have to to get those seats.
They tell the candidates what issues they should run on based on how many votes they think it'll get them.
LOL, that's why the GOP is so pissed at McCain. He's bucking them on the issues and they don't have a more "suitable" candidate to replace him with. So now they have to play along with him and put up a united front.

And so many people are one ticket or one issue voters that this works for them.
Between that and the rules, that the DNC and GOP make together..., a third party can't get a foot in the door.

*shiver* no more politics today...

I believe that the human race has always perpetrated atrocities on one another, we just hear about it more.

This is not to say it is correct, far from it.

Rather, news travels as swiftly as it takes you to start your computer or turn on the television; ergo, it seems to have increased exponentially.

The 'Spin Doctors' are very talented at what they do as well, making every attempt to minimize situations that are not in their best interest, and maximize those situations that are.

Define right and just as you see it. Everyone has a wee bit different dynamic.

Your neighbour might believe in Capital Punishment because when he was a child, his sister was murdered.

You may not because you have a family member that was incarcerated for ten years before the system found they had erred. Were he given a death sentence, the error would have been moot to him.

I am as perplexed about these state of affairs as most people; however, I refuse to ignore it by not reading the paper, by not watching the news, by not checking CNN and listening to our local newscasters.

I may not agree with them, but I do owe humanity my awareness. To ignore is to accept the atrocities and that is a crime in and of itself.

Evil, greedy materialism, and all the other things that are wrong with our world are nothing new. These things have been happening since the dawn of civilization, maybe longer. There are a few differences that make it seem worse today though.

Globalization and communication have brought much more of the world to light, this is a new phenomenon. Until relatively reciently, if some dictator was slaughtering his subjects halfway around the world, you'd never hear of it.

Also, with a few false starts, civilization has always been evolving towards larger and more tightly controlled power blocks. With this trend, when powerful people and organizations do evil things, their evil can effect a much larger group of people. On the other hand, while we rarely hear about it in the news, when powerful people and organizations do good things it effects many more people too.

Basically, nothing has changed except for the scale we're dealing with.

I'm sick of the America bashing. This country has shed a lot of blood for others. Its the most charitable country in the world. Maybe we should stop helping countries with food, money, and blood that seem to hate our guts.

OP: Humans have used, evil as good ,and good as evil , ever since man took the leap from monkey to man. Does it make it right? No. What can they get away with until
you stop them,if you stop them? Evil succeeds where there are no checks and balances.
But then who does the checks and balances?
"^BG^" typed it best "I do owe humanity my awareness." As with a child you must repeatedly remind them of your vigilance. They must hear "I see what you're doing.
Stop it!"

All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing.

I feel angry about the situation. The real problem is the IMF and World bank of which the Federal Reserve is the American branch (the Federal Reserve is a PRIVATE corperation that has more power then the actual elected government).

The Media metaframes candidates the power elite don't like as presumptive losers you shouldn't vote for (as was the case with Nader and Ron Paul), and there is voting fraud anyway that involves machines siphoning votes from one candate to another.

Africa wanted to (and was capable of) making vaccines that were cheap to make and side effect free. The IMF said they were breaking intellectual property rights, then they bought vaccines however they were expensive and had nasty side effects. When something cost $.50 to make you should not charge $100.00 for the product, especially if the typical worker at the factory level for said company can't pay his rent or feed his children well enough (or have healthcare).

I believe you're mistaken by including Starbucks in with the likes of the typical big business. Did you know that Starbucks spends more on health care for their employees than they do on coffee? That they offer subsidized health benefits for anyone working at least 20 hours a week, and employees are eligible after only 90 days of employment. Other benefit perks include: 24 hours of paid training before being put to work, all the coffee they can drink and a pound of coffee to take home weekly .. whether full or part time, paid vacation and sick leave, stock options and a 401(k) plan.

From the net on their health benefits:

Starbucks pays about 75 percent of the premium; staffers pay most of the remaining 25 percent, although the actual amount varies according to salary level. Premiums are based on six eligibility categories: partner only; partner plus child; partner plus children; partner plus spouse or domestic partner; partner plus spouse and child; or partner plus domestic partner and child.

Starbucks extended health benefits to domestic partners of the same sex in 1993 and to unmarried heterosexual couples a year later. No proof of partnership is required; couples simply sign an enrollment form guaranteeing that the information they supply is true. Employees and their dependents are offered a two-tiered managed care plan administered by Aetna, which Starbucks switched to in 1993 when it began to self-insure. The deductibles, co-pays and benefits are the same for all Starbucks employees.
