I was given this wonderful book years ago called "the new astrology" by Suzanne White. It is a synthesis of eastern and western signs. It has always been on target. It tells you about a persons personality,what they like in their home lives and their love interests.

Posted: 6/6/2005 9:38:25 AM | | Lately I've been obsessed with astrology...it's not something that can tell your future, but it can give you some perspective on past occurrances, like people you were in long term relationships with, people in your family, things that you notice about others that you can't put into words...I am a scorpio and so far just about everything I've read seems to be true (THAT's pretty scary) My best friend since 4th grade is an aquarius and we had always gotten along like sisters.........then we moved in together. it was awful. I could probably tell you anything about a given sign also....i've studied them enough. | |

So... what can you good ppl tell me about the year of the Rabbit? (Placemat at the Chinese restaurant says "Luckiest of all signs... talented and articulate".) I'm pretty knowed-up on what being a scorpio is all about, unless there's some weird mix between scorp's and rabbits. And for what it's worth, I've got a leo rising.

Posted: 6/7/2005 12:38:43 AM | Your star sign is the zodiac constellation coinciding with the right ascension of the SUN at a given time of year (i.e. Capricorn is not visible during December because it is in the sky during the DAY).
Now here's the tricky part, it's called precession of the equinoxes. As the earth rotates, gravitational interactions between it, the Moon and the Sun cause the axis of rotation to (very slowly) trace out a cone once every 30,000 or so years (check the numbers, don't have textbook with me). What does this mean? At the time of the original astrologers, star signs and dates did not actually align as they do now i.e Capricorn did not coincide with december. You can put 2 and 2 together from here.
Try this experiment next time you have a large group of people - take a bunch of horoscopes, or any astrological paraphenalia you like, cut the dates out and give them to everyone in the room. Tell everyone to write their date of birth on the prediction / personality analysis / whatever that best matches up with them and see if it is the same as the dates you cut out.
Oh, one more thing, please don't confuse astroLOGY with astroNOMY. It's very painful to tell someone what I study and then have to listen to them tell me all about their horoscope.

Long screen name. Before I do this I checked out your profile for the dates and signs If your honest about your sign I will be able to describe you fairly accuratly
But first your interest include Anarchy. From one to another are you truely an anarch? In the political Chomsky-esq sense of the definition of anarchy.
And if a person doesn't know the difference between astrology and astronomy why do you bother to listin to them?
Anyways on with the show.Hopefully your really born between april 21 and may 21...and not exactly on the 21 because things become hazy on the cusp.

This book was gifted to me years ago and you can probably find it at most half price books...
As for my expetise in astronomy and astrology well allthegoodonesaretaken did not tell me anything I didn't already know.
As for me and my metaphsical studies... I'm no wiccan nor pagan but I do study PSI (all inclusive term) from a spiritualy scientific perspective... That pic of mine, It come from the North Texas Skeptic soceity...They have this Challenge that nobody can prove anything paranormal.. Well being telekinetic I took their challenge. Problem was the ones issueing the challenge were also the judges.. In the end I choose to spin a cd inside of a car suspended from the rear view mirror. It happened but not to their exact parameters then they insisted light or heat was the cause of the movement..When they through light as a potential cause I knew I was screwed.
So you see I've been in the game awhile. I just don't normaly advertise it. My purpose for doing so here is to hopefully find one of MY best compatiblities...but even if I don't I have met many a nice person here already. | |

I know absolutely nothing about eastern astrology, though I doubt it has scientific merit.
Many of the things you wrote are desirable characteristics in anyone, I'd like to say I have most of them as would a lot of people, Taurus or not. Also some of the weaknesses listed are indeed my weaknesses, but like the good qualities, not all of them apply to me and not all my weaknesses / good qualities are listed.
On the anarchy front, I don't believe in running amok, killing, burning and pillaging, I believe that if people were mature enough and able to excercise self restraint we wouldn't need a government or judicial system as such.
While I do consider science the peak of human achievement (I am biased after all), everybody has a valid opinion on something. If I only talked to scientists I'd end up like my professors and start telling maths jokes.
So let's step through this one item at a time. I' don't mean to be a big nay-sayer, but you have to challenge everything. Especially science.
I do complain a lot. Yep, got me pinned there. I trust you got that from an astrology reference and not from my forum posts.
I am interested in and capable of many different pursuits. But find me someone who is only interested in and capable of one or even 3. Having never amused a crowd, I don't know if I have a talent for it. I hope I do cos my band has got it's first gig in just over 2 weeks. And anyone who wants a family had better be willing to take on great responsiblities.
The lack of self confidence thing is just wrong, full stop. Sorry there buddy but a swing and a miss. It happens to scientists too so don't beat yourself up over it.
When I succeed in a big way, I believe I've earned the right to be smug about it. I'm only human after all.
Conscientious maybe, sensitive no. I won't even say I'm sensitive to attract the women on POF cos it's just a lie. I'd like to say I go far to help the little guy, but that really depends on what sort of a day I've had.
