Does a new car make a man more attractive? I just picked up a new truck today, and JEEZ, it's instantly increased the number of looks and smiles from female passerbys. Dangit, where were the smiles in my 92 Taurus?!

and just when we thought adding ownership of a car to the profiles was enough ... now they'll have to keep track of what year it was made.

the car makes the man. That was what attracted me to my last boyfriend, his mercedes. Some cars make a man sexy, now personally I dont go in for trucks or motorcycles. I can be friends with those guys but just can't feel anything sexy towards them not even Hummers. Mercedes , BMW, and Jaquars get my attention. Not into guys who drive 2 seater sports cars either. I once had a guy ask me out that owned a new Corvette and his obsession with that car turned me off.

Maybe the looks and smiles were directed toward your new truck, not at you

As a guy, Id have to wonder if a woman was into me because of what I drove. Sounds like she could use some therapy. In this day & age of $4.00 a gallon gas, who really cares??? Personally, I drive a paid for 2000 Neon that gets great milage. As far as being considered "sexy", I think that self confidence trumps anything with a motor. At 39 years old, I guess "status symbols" make less of an impact than when I was 22.

Give me a man with a pickup over a car any day! Especially if it's an older truck. I've got my eye on a 1958 Chevy Apache 31.

Seriously, I know a lot of women just don't like pickups. Period. The increased looks and smiles may be because you can afford brand new. With the price of vehicles today, anyone who can afford to buy brand new is going to get looks. Especially if you can afford the gas to run that brand new truck since pickups aren't exactly famous for their high gas mileage rating.

With me – how a person keeps their car tells more about their habits, then what they drive.

With fuel prices these days maybe they think you have more expendable cash then an economy car driver…who knows why - just enjoy the attention.
A little ego boost never hurt a soul.

Soooo...what kind of truck did you purchase?

Good thing I still have my Big Wheel!

I trade my car in every three or fours years tops. When shopping for a car I only have one thing in mind and that is what I need it for, what will I be using it for and does it still have a eight track!

i don't care what kind of car any guy drives in....the uglier and noisier the better.

If you're getting a vehicle, there should be three main considerations:
a) you need it to get around.
b) you can afford it.
c) you're going to enjoy driving it.
The last one is more a bonus, but if people are noticing you more because of a new vehicle, it may not be the kind of noticing you want.

Mercedes , BMW, and Jaquars get my attention.

My point made. Some look at you in the vehicle and think "Ohh, money!", and personally speaking, I don't want that attention.

it was a ford!!! thats why you didn't get any smiles...

Not what I've seen with my stang, but as said, I drive because I enjoy it, not because someone else does.

If the type of vehicle I drive is part of the requirement of the woman’s appeal for me, I would have to say thanks, but no thanks. Though I do drive a 07 model, this is for transportation and personal use, not a status of my social standing, income level or attractiveness.

Well I am going to change my name back to Lot Lizard and go stand next to an 18 wheeler...then I will have my picture rated. Lets test this theory. Then I will stand next to a umm Pinto and do it again. Now I live in The Ozark Mountains and pick up trucks are not a problem but a BMW may be tricky to find.

Your post reminded me of this rich family I knew who drove a banged up Toyota. It was there "test" car. They never wanted anyone to know they were rich.

No one smiled on your 92 Taurus, because those cars are crap I know, because I drove one for six months and it kept falling apart. The only car was than that obe is the Ford Festiva. Only Hondas for me from now on.

Men with older cars are sexy as hell. They appreciate the fine lines of an older classic car, the simplistic wiring, the frustration at tuning a carb.

New cars mean you have credit. Big whoop.

How dare you! You can't beat Ford, there the best budget car on the market. Have a Chasis that could rival the best, half decent interior and the Ford Focus is one of the best handling family cars on the market...

My opinion of Ford will change, as soon as I can afford an Audi, then I will agree with you, lol.

Ben.

Hey, I love new cars! I love the way they look and the way they smell. Also, the latest toys that they come with (GPS navigation systems). What I don't like are car payments!

What makes a man attractive isn't the automobile that he's driving. That's just material stuff, that perhaps some men feel they can hide behind, and think they will be accepted. Question is - what happens when the car gets wrecked, repossesed, or stolen? A wise man will have dependable transporation, if it is an older car, you keep up with the maintenance.

I suppose it does to shallow and uneducated women. But women that are truely worth your time and effort won't care.

Does it make more sense to buy a new car or truck every 5 years or make your current car last for 15 years and put the money you save in your retirement account?

It's the truck. I personally prefer a man to drive a truck. Love those big trucks.

I agree!! A new car means a new bill as far as I'm concerned...which means less money to spend on me--ha--just kidding! But seriously, Bassman you're right. I don't judge a guy by his car...hell...these days if a guy HAS a car that runs then dang--I'm happy! I have a 99 Grand Am that's got almost 130,000 miles on it...I got it in 02 and it had 23,000 on it...that's right..I put them miles on my baby! I guess a guy would judge me too--car almost 10 yrs old with a lot of miles and a few dings. So what...! I bought it, paid for it and it's MINE...that's all I really care about.

If the repo man is 2 steps behind you and your new ride...yeah...that's hot
