| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 4:01:26 PM | I've just been on an outing, that started with me approaching several groups of leather clad bikers asking "Are you guys with Plenty of Fish?".
How about we had a t-shirt emblazoned with the words....
"Brisbane PofFers"
Any colour except pink......or yellow..... or ..... ok a White t-shirt with black writing.
Would you wear this? How about some other suggestions for a t-shirt we could wear as a group?

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 4:31:40 PM | interesting idea ricci.......hmmmm i think people wearing it would be called poofters...lol.....sorry but i read it quick and that was my first initial reaction...hahahha....the concept seems like a good idea..just make sure the logo/design doesnt look like the three tiered colours style with rockers above and below the main emblem as they may be removed from anyones body if ya came across a 1% group anywhere...lol
maybe it might just be as picture logo something to do with fish but not the christian fish...lol....poffer or pof could really be deemed poofter by the unknowing hahahahaah
cheerz all be safe and be well...

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 4:50:07 PM | How about the guys from POF all just wear a real floppy flower in there button holes and carry corsages, just so they look 'ready'?
... or maybe we could bulk buy some viking horns, and you could get around in them. It worked for Dark Stanley...
I can't help but think 'the one' might get kind of lost in a sea of same same t'shirts for me... I'd be more interested in the one who stood apart from the crowd, but hey...that's just me.

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 5:07:58 PM | There are pof t shirts ive seen on event sites in usa.. black shirt white writing/fish personally id put...... p.o.f......... if i was you.. cause poffers.. is too close to poofter s...... and nope... not cool at all...... try the full stops for your acyroymn..
me personally would i buy and wear 1? nope im not a sheeple... im an individual and if i felt i needed a t shirt to be identified with a group.... i wouldnt probably associate with the group.. for a day etc.. even...
it sounds like school.. or something... besides that i hardly.. ... wear t shirts so a casual social day.. would the people who then felt it must be a clicky group.... b/c they all wear the same shirt... feel.. not welcome or part of it?
hm so the cool kids wont go... and the ones fearful of acceptance wont take a chance.. just use hand signals..ha ha ha i hear the bikers love the middle finger...lol.. smiles/peace

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 5:23:43 PM | lol.. red floppy flowers with a matching thong. Poffers P+offer.. hmm so many places to go with this | |
|
| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 7:12:12 PM | It was a bike ride I went on, and the starting place was popular, hence me approaching several groups of guys in leather. NO WAY would I do that wearing a pink shirt saying "PofFers" on it, but thought it would stimulate the discussion.
I saw a picture of a fish with the ribs showing. Would not be confused with the christian fish, and looks more interesting that "PofFers".
Any other ideas?

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 7:30:21 PM | | i wouldnt go up to a man wearing a shirt with pooffers on it. I could imagine some men would wear tshirts like that, but i think thats another site. Anyway im interested in hearing what happened next after you approached the leather clad bikers, asking if they were from POF? lol | |

Rick
well as far as i can see pete organises most of the bike rides?...... and he puts his mobile # up.. so ... maybe if you have a cell... you could just arrive and call him asking him exactly where he is.....at the crowded location... it seems to me.. petes easily identifiable and wears leathers... in fact most of the guys (from pof bike ride pics).. wear bike gear.. that they wouldnt wear a t shirt over anyway.. and white is not cool for bikers.. nor practical..ie they get hot sweaty.. and a meat/pie with sauce .. hmmm ... or oil from adjusting bike etc....
id say try calling petes cell on the next ride... or hook up online with someone to meet them or call them when they arrive...

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 8:03:14 PM | | hi Ric, we were actually talking about this on the Tenterfield ride .Most people thought it was a great idea .Black seemed to be the most popular colour . | |
|
| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 10:39:08 PM | I like the idea Ricici , but as was said before not everyone would ware a T shirt especially a visible one if we have bike gear on , I have had a thought though.
A PATCH.
This could be done cheaply (I know someone locally and I can get a quote) I have been thinking of a logo for us and well this is what I have come up with.
I like this Emoticon
What if we put it in the middle of a circle and write around the circumferance
I'M ONE OF THE FISH , CAN YOU CATCH ME?
I was thinking about 90mm in diameter total , 50mm circle with the emoticon inside and 20mm high writing around it. This size could be stitched onto a pocket or breast area of a T shirt or jacket , anything for that matter , or on the shoulder area of any of the above. Another thing is that a patch can be removed.
What do you all think ? Should I get a quote ?
The logo , use the fisher(person) ? Y/N /
The writing , use the above ? Y/N /
Have as a 90mm round patch ? Y/N /
Cheers
Pete
PS we can do T-Shirts too .........

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 11:15:02 PM | Back in my day we used to tie an onion to our belt, which was the style at the time!! | |
|
| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 11:19:31 PM | ^^^^^^lmao wasnt it garlic?.... ....
A patched member of the poffer gang... hmmm well theres go dating from brissy lol.... id lose all street cred dating a patched pooffer lol... noway i could take him home..lol... i think the t shirts are a great idea...lol (its ok guys were just having fun... ) smiles/peace
|
| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 11:25:54 PM | no room for typos with a patched poffer .. or a dispatched poofter..lol
didnt they use garlic and a wooden stake to drive into the hearts of the waywood poffers... maybe a little fish necklace to ward away the evil married ones. Or have the drinkers of jesus juice already got the market on fish necklaces?
Im not sure a reasonably endowed woman wuold want poffer sewn on to her cleavage ..personally i like the little writting on the sleeves of tee shirts.. subtle.
Yes its all fun. | |

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 11:43:36 PM | or across the back
POFFER SEEKS DTE. GSOH. SINGLE. APPLY WITHIN
Poffer seeks openminded dte gsoh single tap on left shoulder.
|
| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/9/2008 11:57:01 PM | ok ... in all seriousness now.. what about a p.o.f bandana.. that way pple can still keep their individuality in how they dress... and tie it to their bag.. or ... wear it on their head.. or tie to bike...
or arm tie it or leg tie it.... keep it p.o.f colour.... the poffer thing tho is too word/mind identity.. confusing.... and first impressions count... P.O.F... is very differ to poffers.. and in actual fact the cancer foundation raises money for sick kids by selling bandanas.. b/c alot of the kids wear em to cover chemo baldness.... even one of those without pof.. could identitfy people..

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/10/2008 7:51:44 AM | Rosebud35, there were some wierd looks being passed between several of the bikies, but they relaxed when I said "I'll keep looking for another group of bikers, then." A shirt that says "PofFers" I may wear in Brisbane far from home, but I will definately keep it well hidden in my little town. And when I drive through Gympie, it will be stuffed under my seat.
Pete, the idea of the fishing emoticon surrounded by the words "I'm one of the fish, can you catch me?" sounds good. Make the patch bigger than 90mm though, maybe 150mm?
We could then individually decide whether to wear it on a sleeve, a breast pocket, or as a bandanna. What colour/s would you use. Any ideas anyone?

Is the badge you can drag & print
Also the Plenty Of Fish T Shirts that existed long ago and the last of them have now gone.
The T-shirts were black and had www.plentyoffish.com written on the chest across the front in pink or blue and at the bottom on the back they said "Catch me!"

|
| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/10/2008 11:47:12 PM | | I did wonder.. cool like the catch me... lol ..if you can..hahhaha | |
|
| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/11/2008 4:21:10 AM | OK, I think we all agree that "PofFers" will NOT be worn by, or if seen, approached by any sane, socially responsible adult.
Having "www.plentyoffish.com" visible would be sensible, as it lets outsiders go home and look up what we are all about.
The fishing emoticon, with a few lovestruck fish swimming near it would suit, with the words "I'm one of the fish, come catch me." And I like the colours used by the moderator.
How do the rest of you feel?
Rick. | |
|
| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/11/2008 5:14:57 AM | Can't say I'd wear that, Rick...
Um, can I just leave it at that?
....Hmmm, I figured not. Can I just leave my polite, tactful and harmonious response please?
Post STILL too short.
Please? | |

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/11/2008 8:33:05 PM | I like the Idea of the bandana , all sorts of colours , tie it around your arm , your head , your face or your neck , anywhere for that matter.
I think we are close on the emblum , the fisher emoticon maybe with some little fish swimming around , but I have modified the wording.
"CATCH THIS FISH"
accross the top half , and
"www.plentyoffish.com"
accross the bottom half of the circle
What does everyone think about that. Bandana , easily put on and removed , screen printed , any colour , should be cheap enough. Should I get some quotes.?
Cheers
Pete

| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/11/2008 8:38:24 PM | Sounds goos to me . Us girls want a tshir t with" Social Butterfly "on it and of course the bandana ...Deb | |
|
| Brisbane group identity. Posted: 6/11/2008 10:11:24 PM | well the good thing about the bandana is... alot of us dont sew..... i know ...uly (barry)like me uses a stapler and when i meet him i must explain how to use it probably... you got to stable hem back stable side out. so just the little clippy bits show. then get artline texta and colour them in in appropriate colour..
any hoo.. i jest but not really
but seriously i dont have a sewing machine anymore.... and leather is hard to get a patch on.... but the effort..
i think the iron on transfer stuff you can buy for pc /printers ( idont have an iron or printer either..) but assuming most people do.... if the single guys are like me and avoid sewing at all costs... no single guy has to sew...that way but thats my feeling... that way people can be individual as well. edit... hey pete the cancer kids bandanas were $2 each even if we bought them we help da kids... but then can iron transfers? just a thought i like the idea of the kids getting something.. edit again.. ive not seen any cancer/ fund raising bandanas lately.. but $2 was a cheap maybe on their website they have them? but i like debs idea the butterfly..... awesome id definitely do a butterfly motif... and its harder to catch butterflys than fish...lol...
