| Which place is your Cheers? Posted: 6/9/2008 7:35:44 PM | Hello fellow Arizonans. Hope you're all enjoying the heat as much as I am (not). I find it's tough in the summer to get people to want to join you for a good happy hour, or a fun night at the pub. Are there any local places you guys consider to be "cheers"? A place you go to same bat time, same bat channel every week?
I used to have a few, but my favorite lately has been Churchill's on Alma School and Warner. True English pub, and they always have theme nights (I'm partial to Texas Hold Em, trivia and karaoke). I just feel comfortable there, it's not at all pretentious and everyone has a good time.
How about you?

Since there is live entertainment nearly every night at Joes Grotto. its usually the place to go when your looking for entertainment mid week. however on fridays night we all group at The Blooze around 9 and decide which band in the neighboring vicinity is the most favorable for the night.

I go there on Sat or Sun afternoons when the errands are done. It is a bit sleepy then. What is the allure you ask?
It’s a nice place. And the people are friendly. It IS like a Cheers.
Oh yeah…and Rhonda the bartender is HOT. Certainly makes me consider what team I’m batting for.
But that air guitar stuff sure sounds like a bit more fun…..

The Hut kinda reminds me of the basement in the movie The Fight Club, and it completely fits Toby Keith's "I love this bar" song because EVERY kind of music gets heard on a (busy) Saturday night, and every kind of people show up there, too. There are all the people I've known for more than a decade and on any given night it's a good place to sit and talk til the wee hours.
My schedule changed and I haven't gone out in a loooooooong time, but my schedule changed again and out I go. I have friends from work coming for this Saturday night at the Hut and it'll either be a wild riot with our crew or a sedate hang out, we can never tell till the evening gets going. I expect it will be kind of quiet because, unless it's someone's birthday or wedding reception, the bar is rarely busy except on paycheck week. Pugsy's is nice just because we can all walk to it, but it's a pub and if it's hard liquor and pole dancing y'want, it's gotta be The Hut.

| Which place is your Cheers? Posted: 8/27/2008 9:14:04 PM | anyplace you meet up with regular friends is good enough to be your cheers. you know you've found a great spot, when you turn the corners and hear swag sliding around in your trunk: (t-shirts, shot glasses, demo cd's, hats, posters, blinking jager key chains etc.) trunk carpet still has green dye stains from st patricks day (deja-vu flashback) -rock on fishies | |

East Side... damn... Hollywood Alley off the 101 and Baseline is as east as I go. that place is a staple in the local music scene. ;p
and my personal fave in the center of tempe... THE YUCCA TAP ROOM! cheap drinks, good barkeep, and great music! its the best dive in the state.
