Ok, what is your opinion on age spots?

Should we lighten them up with creams, hide them with makeup, remove them with
lazer, or just embrace them like dust on an old wine bottle???

I actually didnt mean this to be a multiple answer thread, I used that list to show what we "DO" do with age spots! I really want to know what the over 45 crowd think about there age spots as I have just started getting them and have gotten a little freaked! I should have worded the question differently, oooops , sorry

I bought some of the cream when I noticed the age spots starting on my hands... There I was, standing in my bathroom, rubbing the cream into my hands... and I looked up. There in the mirror was a 50 year old woman, wrinkles around eyes and mouth, neck starting to get a little crepe-like... Boobs and butt both sitting a bit lower than they used to... and I started laughing and tossed the cream in the trash.

What the heck, I'm 50, not 20! I'll just call 'em freckles.

I know its a little scary when you first notice them. After awhile its like...pffftttt its proof positive I've lived long enough to get them. And, with any luck I'll live long enough to get more. I was however, fortunate (although I hated them forever) to have dark auburn hair and freckles......lots of them...........so in the beginning they just sort of blended in with the freckles until the bigger ones started coming.

This is the price us older ones pay for being sun worshipers before sunscreen..............

Let's see.... I had a tattoo and a birth mark that bugged me removed by laser. I wouldn't hesitate to have an age spot or mole removed either. Not a biggie. If something bugs you, get rid of it.

My facialist calls them "sun damage". Truthfully, if she hadn't mentioned them, I wouldn't even have noticed them. Yeah, big freckles is what they look like (and are, really). I don't worry about them--now, my puffy old-lady eyes, I worry about!

I have so many moles that age spots certainly are not making a difference! Matter o fact? I think since getting age spots, I am beginning to really appreciate my moles!!!I take the time to pay attention to other things in my physical makeup, but age spots don't seem that big of an issue to me

I earned every age spot and wrinkle and gray hair ~ covering or getting rid of them is just a personal option ~ whatever makes you comfortable in your skin (no pun intended).

Poeple say I have an unattractive mole on my shoulders that I should have removed and I may, once I figure out what they're talking about.

If all a person last to worry about is age spots they are in good shape.

I couldn't careless about the ones I have. I love the sun, and will continue to enjoy being out in it.

And here I thought that the ‘spots of age’ were the spot on top of the fridge that had the jar of Ovaltine, or the top two shelves in the medicine cabinet that had all the bandages, Preparation H and the Rub A535. You mean there’s ones on the body, too ?? ... dark spots ?? That problem is easy to solve – just don’t shower as much. The dirt’ll hide ‘em.

But then ... I’m a single guy. Other opinions may vary.

My whole body is one big age spot, so why worry about it......

Now my goal is to just "blend" them all together or find someone that enjoys "connecting the dots".......

Just my opinion.......

Between the wrinkles, the sagging flesh, the new rooster's skin on my neck ( ), the grey thinning hair, the drop an inch a year butt (which I will be picking off the floor soon I'm sure)...what's a few age spots between friends eh??

I have one on my left hand and I hate it. Is there something that really works to fade it?

Well bleaching is a waste of money and just makes the whole area look worse, and they sure are ugly but I have no money to laser them. If anyone wants to give me free laser treatments as a gift LOL I'd do it but otherwise they are just a part of the whole wrinkled, flabby, ugly package that is me.

I'm a whole bunch of freckles! I'm out in the sun a lot ... get very brown... and the freckles almost merge together on my arms in the summer.
So..... I guess I'm one big age spot, lol!
If I tried to erase it.. I'd erase myself.
I'm not ready to erase myself yet.

Nah...I am just fine with my age spots.........they blend right in with all the freckles, and no one can tell the difference.

Besides, getting older doesn't bother me...I have even gotten used to the creaking bones as I try to get out of bed, or bend over to pick up something I have dropped.

Well, we are what we are....not 20, 30, or even 40 anymore and THANK GOD!
I gave up the hair dye years ago, and I've gotten many compliments on my natural hair.
I love the sun. The sun causes sun feckles, so I use sunscreen nowdays (oh to have known at 20 what I know now...) I'm sure as hell not gonna let some spots stop me!

I have earned every age spot. It is called life experience. One of the native kids I work with called them dots. So I told her I wanted to be an Indian but had not got there yet.
For an old gal of 60 I have great skin but I have a few sun spots along with floppy arms "that are soft as a puppies ears" (another of my native kids) and sagging breasts. It means to me that I have gathered some wisdom and compassion for myself and more importantly for others along the way. Would I prefer to have flawless skin and arms and breasts that do not sag? Yes but not at the price of compassion and wisdom. For me it is a good trade off. There are so many kinds of beauty and the beauty of wisdom and compassion is far greater to me than physical beauty.

I think me and my age spots look much better today, than what we're gonna look like after ten years.

I think you should do whatever makes you feel good about yourself...either accept them or have them removed...I hate my freckles but there are to many to remove so I am working on a darker tan and hoping they wont stand out as much .... not everything that is age related is a bad thing...some people IMO look better as they age..my mother is like that.
