Just a little FYI JPEG/JPG is an acronym for Joint Photographic Experts Group. The same thing just different filename extension (file format). Traditional DOS only allowed 3-digit extensions hence JPG and Windows still uses it to determine the file mimetype hence the use of JPG instead of JPEG. But JPEG is useable in other formats such as UNIX, Linux and etc.

At the Time POF's Image Upload Software was written, most People were using Internet Explorer which by default saved any JPG from
the Internet to JPEG, discouraging Users from posting fake Web Pics to their Profiles, in Essence cutting down on Fake Accounts.
In Fact, unless they come here and ask, they will never know why their JPEGs won't upload. In many Cases its just Users re-transferring their Images from their Hosting Sites back to their Hard Drives encountering the same Problem. Some really old Digital Cameras also defaulted to JPEG.

I read in a hacker's forum that if you have some viruses and when you want to upload pictures the virus try to go with its and if the server is not allowing that weigh you won;t be able to lift its and my brother had that problem when he tried to sent his cousin a picture of his older daughter graduation .he asked for help and I found the picture too heavy .and after he got rid of the virus he was able to send it .

I doubt it has anything to do with this Site as all uploaded Pics get recompressed anyways. Therefore its not possible to pass them on.
Should any of the Images uploaded carry any viral Payload, the filter would reject them on the Basis of either non-standard Format, non-standard Compression Algorithm or Errors ... or as a corrupt Image.
