| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/11/2008 5:06:18 PM | Jut tried something different, or different to me at any rate.
Hammered a couple chicken breasts flat and then fine diced them, cooked them in a skillet with a little BBQ sauce, garlic, onion, green pepper strips. Spread that on a baguette and topped with cheeze whiz. Broiled it. I was amazed at how good it was.
Do you use Cheese Whiz much?
|
| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/11/2008 6:23:13 PM | When I have to make appetizers for friends parties i use it...
Mix a few tablespoons of Cheese Whiz with some cream cheese, put it in a small tipped icing tube or in a plastic baggie and cut the one corner out to make a small whole... spread on triscuits or other yummy crackers and put tomatoe slices, shaved ham, olives, and or celery curls on the crackers...
They are super easy to make and normally a big hit!

| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/11/2008 6:44:01 PM | Nope I don't use much cheese whiz. It's not only tasty but it is suprisingly healthy, that's another story. The last time I was into cheese whiz was in the late 1990's. I seem to remember a fellow bike racer and myself (two of the fastest cyclists in Ontario at the time) consuming over half a jar of cheese whiz and a box of trisciut imitation crackers in a single sitting while having a good yarn.... proabably the positive nutrional characteristics was one of the topics.

| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/12/2008 9:58:14 AM | I just can't.
The smell of Cheez Whiz or even Velveeta makes me gag.
My father used to inhale bricks of velveeta when I was a kid.. and I think I'm scarred for life.

| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/12/2008 12:58:14 PM | The smell of Cheez Whiz or even Velveeta makes me gag. Me too. If I'm going to send my cholesterol up, then it's going to be with the good stuff.
Carry on...... | |

| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/13/2008 12:03:29 AM | Ok, I will probably send you all into shock with this one, except the cycling guy up there ^^^, BUT there are a couple of transfats that have almost bionic-like health benefits. They counteract other transfats, can cure diabetes (I guess that means they get the islet of Longerhan cells working again, can't remember) and can bring your cholesterol to normal, plus a hundred other health benefits. The two primary sources of these amazing transfats are cheese whiz and common hamburger meat (not grilled). They can also be found in whole milk. Weird huh? But true, nonetheless. I spent an entire semester in histology studying and writing papers on these. Soooo, go ahead and have that cheese whiz burger, fries cooked in the meat fat left in the skillet after cooking the patties and glass of whole milk mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
I like cheese whiz in summer, on broccoli, with BBQ smoked chicken. I have never eaten it otherwise.
|
| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/16/2008 6:23:18 AM | | I regularly use it in my summer BBQ pouches. Whether it be scalloped cheese potatoes or Broccoli and cheese, it seems to work better than "real" cheese in certain instances. And Cheeze Whiz on Celery will always remind me of my mother. That makes me smile. | |

| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/16/2008 6:54:44 AM | Wow Smilin! Who knew that? As some of the others have said, I have tried to shy away from it as I have always heard it isn't good for you. However, I do love cheese whiz on toast, a grilled cheese sandwich, melted over brocolli. Yummmmmm!!! | |
|
| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/16/2008 7:39:11 AM | | I like to put just a spoonful in mashed potatoes sometimes instead of butter for a little extra flavour, mmmm :) | |
|
| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/16/2008 5:43:52 PM | ..I just knew that someone would justfy the consumption of something as universally loathed as "peasant food" by finding out it just happens to be a spectacular food product...LOL ..I love to mix it with salsa and give it a good heating for some nice cheesy dip on tortilla chips
..Thanks Smiling Salmon...from the bottom of my Cheese Whiz jar..
|
| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/16/2008 5:58:45 PM | ^^^ Pupdaddy.
That wouldn't have occurred to me, but I love to make my own salsa and the addition of Cheese Whiz would really make a nice dip. Thanks for that !<img src=http://www.plentyoffish.com/smiles/icon_201.gif border=0>

| Cheese Whiz Posted: 6/16/2008 11:54:05 PM | Aww puppy, you are welcome. It is nice to hear something good about food on occasion instead of always hearing it is cancer causing and artery clogging.
Moon, yeah, as in all things, moderation. I don't think cheez whiz could be nearly as bad as velveeta, or many other foods, after all, It is NOT SOLID at room temperature, so it can't be too terrible.
I have made that velveeta and salsa, sometimes with chili, crockpot dip like everyone else before, why not use cheese whiz instead? I think in mashed potatoes it might be interesting.
