| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 8:54:55 AM | I was just curious if this happened to anybody else on here but me. Some guy writes me a message. I take a quick break to check my mail, read his message but don't have the chance to get back ot him that minute. That night I check my mail again (and go to write him back) and I have a message from him saying that I am nothing and a horrible person and many other things i wont repeat in the forum. This happens ALL the time. Are these people THAT desperate or does it happen to other people too! Thanks!!!!!!!! | |

| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 9:10:13 AM | There is a short thread in the admin section along this topic.

I gotta admit that I got a little short tempered with a close friend (note that she is a very close friend) one time for that. I noticed that she had read my email and then signed out. I was like WTF....but, then I realized that she has a life and kids to deal with.....and doesn't carry her keyboard to the toilet with her....or to the phone....or front door...or to bed...or prolly doesn't sit at the puter when someone drops by. Or maybe she just wanted to think before responding.
I didn't write her that I was upset. I did tell her later about my revelation......she laughed and said that I was an idiot! hahahaha

| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 9:16:10 AM | I just give up. This has happened several times to me in the middle of an email conversation. It's very discouraging.
I don't even say anything rude or freaky, but mysteriously the other person(s) (who sometimes are the ones who emailed me first) just stop writing back. I'd like to assume perhaps they've just gotten really busy with life.
I don't get hundreds (or even 5) emails a day, so I don't have a hard time replying, but I do make a point to reply to everything, even if it's just a polite message basically saying, "thanks, I'll pass".
|
| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 9:39:28 AM | is it worth ruining your night over? e-mail back, say your piece, and let him go on with his life.....honestly it's not worth losing sleep over lol.... | |
|
| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 10:10:10 AM | I too, try to respond to all- even if it is a thanks. And awaiting is right- don't let the loser ruin your night.
No, I haven't had that happen. But he's gonna be that way, you know you don't want him in your life.
But to avoid possible future issues, you may consider putting a note in your profile stating something like "I do sometimes check in my email and respond later, please do not think I'm ignoring you." But that's up to you.
Best of luck! | |

| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 10:20:07 AM | This has happened to me before..several times...chill out guys!!!
Sometimes I like to think about what I want to say back to the person. If my wit and charm is on the fritz at the moment, or my dog is puking on the rug, I generally need to log back in later and reply.
|
| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 10:46:16 AM | Oh yes, too many times to count.
That's when I hit the "Block User" and move on. If they are that impatient then they aren't worth the time it takes to reply back anyway. It's like they have this incredible ego that dictates how and when I or anyone else should respond to them.
WTF ever..... | |
|
| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 10:47:55 AM | | I do consider it an insult when they read/delete with no reply. That is friggen rude, but it a good way to weed those rude people out. I don't get mean to them, but I might have a little fun for one more message. :) | |
|
| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 10:51:07 AM | My confusion is when they just stop responding to a conversation, especially when they initiated it. And honestly, I don't say anything naughty or judgemental (at least not yet!)
I just assume they suddenly decided they don't like me, and I forget about them (clearly I don't forget :P )
|
| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 10:56:48 AM | I generally get peeved, then shrug and move on.
They arent worth the single kJ of energy I would spend getting angry or annoyed.

| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 10:58:10 AM | | 76131--Those are probably the kind that just leave relationships with no conversation. its your gain not to have gained and lost those IMO. | |

| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 10:59:52 AM | | Nope never had that problem yet and don't imagine I will. I've received messages and taken up to a couple of months to reply. If there that impatient then its just as well you found out when you did. Might be something worth thinking about doing more often. Wait for a few days before answering anyone back and see if they have patience or not. | |

| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 11:04:44 AM | | I do not think it is rude if you message someone and they read it then they delete you, they probably looked at your profile and did not like it,too bad so sad it happens on here.Does not make them rude, just not interested,I liked this one profile it seemed that we had alot in common,so I got creative and wrote her a song on the spot spent a lot of time on it,she did not respond to it,i did not even consider her being rude, she probably did not like my profile, and I am not going to cry about it just go on to the next, some people get bombarded with mail and do not have time to respond,so why take it personally.Happy go fishing in the universal ocean of love. | |

| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 11:16:21 AM | I think the big issue for me is that it's really only a behavior you find on the internet. People seem to leave their manners at the door.
In the real world, if you were having a conversation with someone, and it started to get dull (or whatever problem), you wouldn't just spin around and walk off. At the least you'd make up some excuse as to why you needed to leave, or even be honest and say, "I think I don't really like you anymore", and walk off.

| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 11:20:52 AM | guys, if a woman reads your e-mail, and deletes it and you hear no response, it IS NOT RUDE.
They have a choice, just like you had a choice to choose them to e-mail in the first place. Women get more e-mails than guys to period, that's just the way it is...but like I said earlier, wait a little while, a day or 2 and e-mail a 2nd time, and if you don't hear anything back, than either they just haven't read their e-mails, or they are not interested, so MOVE ON.....
Some people don't check their e-mails EVERY DAY....keep that in mind..
And e-mailing a hundred times in a day shows a bit of desperation I would say, which will send them looking elsewhere lol
And would you want a woman to respond to you after your preturbed about them responding to the 4th one? is it worth the irritation? lol....for guy to act like that, I am sorry to say, have an ego issue...
no response means this..
not interestedor or haven't read the e-mail.....
THAT'S it, pretty simple.....worry about the more important things in your life, and use this as an easier way to chat or meet people, don't run your life THROUGH IT.....

| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 11:23:16 AM | awaitingyu, I can't speak for what the OP meant, but I'm referring to existing conversations where one side goes dead.
It's totally reasonable on the internet to ignore first contact by someone you don't know. I don't think anyone would argue otherwise on that point.
|
| POF members with no patience!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 6/6/2005 11:35:43 AM | yea, patience can do wonders.....
but cpl.........I think to answer yours, and what you said is reality, unfortunately, but I think over the internet people find it an easier route to just disconnect if the interest is not there or fades knowing there is nothing in front of them but a monitor keeping in touch.......in person is a whole different story because YOU ARE THERE....a tougher way out.....
that's "reality" in the computer dating.....reality in the one on one in person dating is obviously much more difficult...
over the computer, all you have to do is "click"
