well before this thread gets deleted by some north americans, i need to say that those who dwell at Old Trafford are idiots with no brain at all!

they have reported the Spanish giants Real Madrid to FIFA because of the Ronaldo affair, as if the moaning Minnie Sir Alex Ferguson were surprised or did not know that the world of football is so cruel sometimes!

Man United have done the same in the past, so stop whingeing you devils! devils that would not scare a child in the middle of the night

by the way, Madrid have offered Malcolm Glazer (american owner of the devils) 80 million Euros, so sooner or later he will be accepting the money.

go to hell mister whinger Ferguson!

I think they're just trying to play the game Pedro. fergie is just seeing if there's anything that can halt what seems inevitable, namely, that Ronaldo moves to Real. People can obviously refer to fergie as a hypocrite, I don't know that he'd deny it himself. But he's just playing a game of chess and trying to see if he can find a way of avoiding what would be a problem for United. Losing Ronaldo, apart from the fact that they've been building a team around him, would mean a massive loss of revenue. He's the hottest financial property in world football at the moment...and, Ronaldo has not signed yet! I think we might have to wait until the ink is dry on this one...

Have to ask Samuel L. Jackson's character in "Pulp Fiction;" then ask Forrest Gump...ya know, they worked together in the little-known sequel: "Gump Fiction."

yes Ronaldo has not signed yet.

he will do it after the Euro is over, sure!

Man United will receive from Madrid 80 or 90 million Euro for the transfer, and the club will pay him 9.5 million as salary (if we count money from marketing, image rights, etc he will earn a lot more).

by the way, those 9.5 million are 'limpios' as we say in Spain. i do not really know how you call it in English language what i mean is that it is the money coming to his pockets after having paid taxes, so his salary will be really higher

well i am a man united fan and it really pissed me off reporting the matter to FIFA. although yea he is fantastic and he is the hottest property in world football at the moment but Manchester United Football Club is bigger than Ronaldo, if he wants to leave let him go and bring some other players. though we gonna miss him but its not the end of the world for United. He can only play at the top of his game for United if he is playing with his heart, he will not play anything good if doesnt wanna stay. United is a great club and stars come and go, if he goes so be it

yes stars come and go, but Man United will lose some power if he leaves (as he is to leave)

of course Man United as a football team are bigger, but what would happen if all the great players like Ronaldo, Rooney...... leave at the same time? you would have a shite with only a good name, no more!

Look. There is nothing certain yet. Until a few weeks ago no one thought Roanaldo was going to go anywhere...then one or two words...a report or two and suddenly there is madness. This will go right down to the wire...United themselves might end up offering Ronaldo massive wages above what he's on now to stay. Nothing new has happened since this story first broke, we just have to wait and see and football being football, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes or stays! Why get so caught up by the press? They are offering "new" stories every day, none of it is actually based on any "facts".

Hey there Pedro

Don't worry, you have the support of some of us North Americans who LOOOOOOVE European Football. Fortunately the N.A.s you refer to are usually too dense to figure out that FIFA means football and they are clueless to the names of the great clubs.

Steveemac, I'm right there with ya !

So post away Pedro! :-)

I don't post very often, but I love reading your threads because I learn more about the sport.

hello Pasquel, hope thou art doing fine there in thy part of the world

at kirk,

yes there are new stories every day, but those come from the English.

it is quite simple and easy: Ronaldo told his family and his agent that he wants to play for Madrid. Man United of course know this not only because of the press but his agent as well.

Ronaldo has not spoken to any person from Man United, but you do know that nowadays it is the press and media that 'throw' some news to the air. and that is exactly what Ronaldo is doing through the Spanish press, just to make the devils know he wants to leave.

I think Ronaldo has been honest for a long time that he wants to play in Spain, he's said that from the very beginning. But, a month ago nobody would have even dreamed that he would leave United. Today, everyone thinks he will leave. His mother has been reported over here as saying that he will not leave United. The United players and manager are saying that he will not leave and will be playing with United this coming season. Others are syaing the direct opposite. Your initial point Pedro was that in football, anything can happen...I agree...which is why I'll wait and see, I would not be surprised by anything AT ALL...this story is not over yet!

No mate maybe not over...other than media hungry club & media hungry player agreeing terms...oh...& the little matter of an in contract player being allow to discuss those options.

Personally....I think Man U are resigned to letting him go if the money is good for them..Fergie was right...Glazer's see him as an asset to the club which he is...but only a temporary one...Ronaldo in all honesty would not (even still) sell as many shirts as Beckham did at the top of his Utd game....and don't kid yourself...that is what a lot of it is about. From a commercial viewpoint Ronaldo is a commodity..as any footballer is....Fergie will find another for a 10/th of the price & do the same with them again....the guy (bar Veron) has not lost on a transfer since he started his tenure at old trafford....that speaks volumes.

Ronaldo will end up like Henry....average against good defence's in Spain....he looks good here because of bar 4 teams the rest are shite.

Couple of things that I disagree with Flash...

I think Henry and Ronaldo are better than your assessment suggests. Henry is not the first player to have a difficult first season after switching leagues. Ronaldo has played very well for his international side time and again and is still improving so I can't see him not being able to perform against decent sides.

As for this particular story...I am simply saying that it's a bit naive to not anticipate further twists and turns in this particular saga...United would of course look to cash in on ronaldo when and if he goes...that goes without saying. However, I think it is clear that Fergie wants Ronaldo to stay, that being so, I would not be surprised if Fergie is working frnatically behind the scenes and playing all sorts of games.

On the transfer market...well United has had a couple of hiccoughs. His son made some awaful purchases when he was signing for them...Djemba Djemba????

Pasquel, just to be perfectly clear -'cause I don't wanna mislead anyone- I'm not that much of a soccer fan; I pull for the Milwaukee Wave (indoor soccer), and any small-college team I happen to be driving to an away game, but that's about it; the football I am most passionate about is the kind played with the pointy, oval ball...but I do stand for everyone being given their due time to discuss whatever sports they love!

Well, Real have gone about it in the wrong way to be honest. They should have gone through the proper channels to ask about Ronaldo instead of using the spanish media.

I think Fergie really doesn't want to sell him, especially to one of the clubs with the potential to win the CL next season, he really wants to win this again before he retires, and if that means letting ronaldo rot in the reserves for a season then so be it.

But i think in the end, an offer of £75m or $145m will be too hard for the Glaziers to resist :/

Fergie knows that if Ronaldo leaves the club, then there would be goal-scoring problems.
Not saying that united won't be able to score goals without Ronaldo, but its quite obvious that Ronaldo scores half of united's goals! (if not more)
Like i keep saying...Man U without Ronaldo is like a marine in Iraq without his rifle!
Fergie knows that, and i reckon that's why he reported to FIFA.

Ronaldo has done so much for united under a very short space of time, he has won trophies, so its understandable if he decides to embark on a new and fresh mission/challenge.
Every great and ambitious player loves new challenges, Ronaldo shouldn't be an exception, afterall Madrid did the same to chelsea when they snapped Arjen Robben, Robben wanted a new challenge due to the fact that he has already won the major trophies with chelsea, apart from the Champions league.

United fans should get a grip and accept the fact that manchester united was not printed on Ronaldo's forehead, meaning...he can leave when he feels like leaving, that is the life of a footballer!!!
And by the way, who wouldn't wanna play for a massive club like Real Madrid???
Its just too tempting when they come knocking on your door, don't blame the players, blame Madrid!

Man Utd won't struggle without Ronaldo, they'll just sign Santa Cruz from Blackburn and carry on playing with Tevez and Rooney free to roam the pitch, and use the proceeds from the Ronaldo sale to pay a year's interest on the Glazer's debt which has conveniently been passed onto the club because of some stupid law in business

Ronaldo wouldn't be a 40 goals a season player in Blackburn's team either
