| What is definitely not hot?

Was mostly incessant chatter, kid talk, rello talk and work talk to name a few. I don't know the ladies children, relatives or workmates so that sort of conversation seems fairly pointless on a first date anyway. Could hardly get a word in edge ways. Had I been able to do so I could probably have given the lady more confidence in herself and made the evening a little easier for both of us. I understand about nervousness but to me this just seemed to be motor mouthing.
I'd be interested to hear about other people's 'definitely not hot's.' Most particularly when you're on a date already and you can't run or hide without giving offense. | |

Poor table manners (and I'm not being a stickler here, like using the wrong fork. I'm talking about things like doing gross things at the table, or picking/cleaning any body orificies at th or talking with food in your mouth, etc..)
Strong overpowering cologne
Being mean, arrogant, condescending, overly flirtatious to others. You can tell a lot by how your dates treats other people.

Posted: 6/14/2008 1:57:32 PM | I'd been chatting with this "Lady" for quite a while & we got on like a house on fire online, so I asked her to join me fpr a night at the blues club to see this band that we both liked. We had a great night, danced, laughed & were very comfortable in each others company. A great night
On the way home she suddenly wound the window down, " need a bit of fresh air" I said
"no " she replied "I just farted"
The window went up & down like a yoyo for the rest of the trip
I'm sure there's still burnout marks in her street after I dropped her off
If only she'd used the term "passed wind" things couldve been so different, but then again I might just be old fashioned | |

i really wonder what you planned to do to "give" her more confidence? sorry i know that sounds a bit narky but theres the poor woman trying to make conversation -possibly talking on the only subjects she feels she knows enough about - and probably picking up that you weren`t impressed and that just might make her talk all the more!!
of course i could be wrong and she might be an absolute moo!!!
what really gets to me is when people ask if they have offended/upset me.....when i havent rung/texted for all of 5 minutes!!! well exaggeration of course but that type of thing-when people automatically take it personally-hey im just busy!! | |

Smart guy but...
It got too much
As I was passing a forkful of swordfish to my mouth I paused
Looked at him
He paused
I asked "Do you know anything about epiglotus?"
He sat upright
Went to open his mouth
Paused
Thought
Looked bemused and said "No. No I dont."
I simply said "I'm so glad" and inserted the fish in my mouth.
He got it.
The evening got better.
Someone I still know tends to 'chatter'
But we know each other well enough that I can just say "(Insert name) shut up."
As to whats not hot?
- Feral behaviour and people who think they are funny acting like smart ar*ses
- Being rude to people to impress
- Big noting
- Jitteriness (makes me nervous)
- Going for the grope
- Coffee in paper cups
- Not holding a door open (for me or other ladies)
- Lack of common courtesy
- Bull sh*te
- Non stop jokes
- Hating something because they never tried it (I'm gone)
- Trying to connect with my leg/foot under the table
- White sox
- Lots of piercings
- Lots of tattoos
- Ordering cheap chardy :(
- Trying to get me to drink when I dont want to
- Turning off music
- Refusing to speak to people in the same vicinity and acting up themselves to cover lack of confidence in the situation
- Telling me how to run/fix my life

The lady was a relationship counsellor. Now that was a not-hot turn off. | |

Posted: 6/15/2008 6:36:13 AM | when you are on the first date, or first checking out the REAL person, who has been chatting via email or talking on the phone for weeks, and they are constantly getting phone calls, which make them sound either too busy to really be there, meeting you, as they should be at work, or all their male friends are ringing up to find out that Gosh Gee, he is actually meeting a woman..I usually turn my mobile onto silent, giving him the chance to impress me, But i Don`t want to here about his prowess in the bedroom stakes, I like to hear about his life inside the bored room, and what he has done to make life a better place.
I have a friend who makes all sorts of book marks, and I occasionally buy a range of them off her, and when I go to meet a guy, if I consider that he is really not my *Cup of Tea* I present him with one that fits the type he is,,,,,a fisherman, whose tail needs to be marked.
Or a Hunter who likes the hunt and never wants to get caught.
Surprising how many of those there are on the dating sites, while I am a Gemini, and can be naughty and nice in the same conversation, sometimes I never know who *he* is going to meet, as I have to wait till I meet him......

Recently I had a guy bag every date he'd been on off the site. Very unappealing.
I've been on dates with some really nice people & we just didn't hit it off. It's a part of dating. It doesn't mean they're all bad people just because we didn't get along! I still catch up with some as friends for a drink and chat. All that running people down made think he was very judgmental, not open minded & a nasty person. | |

If I read all these right about borish males talking about themselves, talking too much or not enough then let me say it takes the input of two or more for a conversation. If they are 'over compensating' it means that somebody else wasn't participating.
Making that first impression is hard from both sides. How do you read just what the other person is expecting of you when they are holding back watching you for the same thing?
I used to find exactly the same feeling going for a job interview. Then I threw all the rules out the window, walked in like I owned the place and said my piece. Now I have the best job I've ever had. So now I have this old bottle of red ......... | |

It's a ridiculous form of elitism, and it seems to exist in most people within my circles of friends. Umm, also people who haven't really thought about anything much, beyond celebrity gossip and what's happening at work. Actually, gossip is annoying. These days it just feels like a lot of people just live for the gossip! So yeah, what's 'not' hot? People that gossip!
