| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/13/2008 6:32:20 PM | Are many men honestly unable to tell when a female is wearing make-up? Can you tell whether someone is or isn't?
Most of my guy friends (teen's through 40's) have commented at some (although rare) time that another girl looks great for not wearing make-up. It may be pictures of his girlfriend, meeting someone else's wife for the first time, or just some random girl in public that caught his eye. Almost every time she is obviously wearing plenty, as in mascara, eye coloring, lipstick etc. Many of them have also made reference to rain, hand, or whatever, ruining my make-up when I'm not wearing any. I only wear that stuff about two or three times per year.
Are some guys really just clueless that eyelids aren't green and sparkley and eyelashes aren't supposed to be clumpy? Do they prefer to think it's natural? Do they think women cannot exist without it, so they consider light make-up to be none and none to be light? Are they looking at something other than the face and then filling in the face with their imagination? I would think that if a guy thinks about it enough to mention it on his own, then he must have at least looked at the person, especially pictures of his own girl.

I suppose it has to do with how much exposure you have with women.
I have three sisters (ages 21 and 24) and know perfectly well what a girl with no make up looks like. Other guys may have little experience with women without make up on so they assume little make up is nothing.
I don't know ... Does it matter? haha

Most women really don't need it, and some overdo it. A little tan on the face goes further than you think and looks fresh.
Very sexy! | |

However I can say this with certainty, I've seen more than one woman I thought was wearing too much make up, yet I've never seen a woman I thought was wearing too little. I guess it's like cologne :)

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/13/2008 7:30:00 PM | If I know how the woman looks with and without, I would know. Even though, I might not really know what kind of makeup I was really looking at!
If it was very subtle, I might wonder if a woman I did not know was wearing any!
I love makeup on a woman, but some women just don't have a clue as to what looks good any more then some men in the fashion sense!

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/13/2008 7:38:22 PM | I am not big on wearing makeup. I don't like putting any foundation or anything on my skin, and tend to stick to my eyes when I do wear it.
Though I do use eye makeup to make my eyes "pop" men rarely realize until they've seen me without it. Even my mom says "You look kind of sick today. Are you okay?" when I don't wear makeup, because I tend to look a bit blah.
It's amazing what a little eyeliner can do for a girl.
I don't like seeing people totally made up, as I think it takes away from what is naturally there. I think it takes a lot for a woman to be confident enough to flaunt her flaws, and take pride in them. It's unrealistic to expect us to look like a Covergirl model when we wake up in the morning, really.
That being said, I don't blame the men who don't realize, because nowadays makeup is a lot more subtle than it used to be, and really...they're probably looking at my boobs anyway!

I think you hit the nail on the head. Some men only give certain parts of the female anatomy a cursory glance, and focus much of their attention on other parts. I think the best make up is that which looks like none is applied.

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/13/2008 8:19:01 PM | Depends on how well the makeup is applied...
The clowns like Tammy Faye... EVERYONE knows that there's a pound of spackle and a pint of paint on that one.
If she applied makeup well... it will be hard to see the makeup.

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/13/2008 8:50:00 PM | You can't solely say it is just men who cannot tell.
There are some truly magical products out there now a days. Mind you I am someone who rarely wears an entire faceful of make-up, but even with a face plastered with foundation, powder and eyes highlighted with natural colours for a night out with the girls; my friends always compliment me on my skin. They can't even tell I am wearing make-up. I always have to tell them.

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/13/2008 9:50:09 PM | OP, First time I ever heard guys not being able to tell. I've found the most attractive makeup users apply it sparingly, but I prefer the "natural" look . | |

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/13/2008 10:30:01 PM | A more natural look is definitely more appealing, no matter what sex you are!
I also think that the older I get, the less make-up I prefer...heck...all those shiny shimery sorts of things do nothing but make age lines show more!! LOL
But I have also been told, many a time..."Wow...you really clean up nice!" LOL Makes me think, "Sheesh...do I look that bad without?!" But all it really means is that someone appreciates the effort you took to look nice. ;O)

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/13/2008 10:53:06 PM | Some guys think it is a complement to say that. Being one that prefers really light makeup, I appreciate not seeing blue eye lids and super rosy cheeks. Goodness that very thought is damaging. eww..
Other guys just are not close enough, have bad eye sight or have little to no experience at this.
If you are told that when you are wearing it, look closer at him. Does he wear glasses? Should he? These will clue you in on him.
good luck and go light and natural!!!! Please for the love of beauty!~

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/13/2008 11:58:27 PM | With the new mineral makeups they have now, it can be quite difficult to tell if a woman is wearing foundation. It doesn't have the appearance that liquid foundations have and there isn't the horrible jaw demarcation that is so prevalent.
I use a light brushing of mineral base, some natural colored eye shadow (no blues, greens or any other unnatural colors for me), and mascara. That's it. I don't look heavily made up and that's the point. When I was a teenager in the 60's, we took forever to plaster on the makeup. Especially eye makeup. I don't have the time, energy or eyesight to do that now. When we get older, less is definitely more. I don't want my guy to say "Wow! Your makeup looks great!" I want to hear "Wow! YOU look great!"

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/14/2008 12:08:28 AM | I don't really care unless it's in the Tammy Baker domain. Some women look fabulous without make-up; other are downright unapproachable. Life is not fair.
Besides, you can taste it when you get to the snogging stage. Please you hypoallergenic products.

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/14/2008 2:03:26 AM | There are the subtle types and then the noticeable stuff. There is make-up for the "natural" look which is designed to be invisible. It depends what you are looking for or prefer. I can certainly tell if someone has a round orange face and it doesnt look good to me but I know Goths and Punks and even Emos that use it to great effect and you are in no doubt that they are made up, some are like a work of art!
It can be for the flair, the challenge or the self confidence but does it really matter if someone wears it or not? The only time it can be a pain is when you come up for air and it is all over your jacket and pants but if you love them what the hell!!

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 6/14/2008 2:11:14 AM | | I for one hate make-up. I can most deffenately tell. Don't get me wrong though, I think a woman should do what she feels she needs to but I don't want to date someone who wears make-up all the time. | |

| Can't tell she's wearing make-up? Posted: 7/30/2008 5:22:01 PM | | depends..a small amount of makeup can be hard to see..At least for me.Just not that important if you really like her | |
