I'm wondering if there is anyone that will be attending the Jamboree this year, or has attended in the past years. I've never been to the Jamboree and have been given a ticket to attend this year. I would appreciate any and all suggestions or hints to make it a memorable event for me and my son.

I'm a veteran of 15 years at Craven and I have taken my son there when he was a preteen. Once he got into his teens he just didn't want to go anymore. I would suggest only taking him for the last day because 3 days will be too much for such a young kid especially if the weather is anything but moderate. Unless of course you have an RV with heat or AC. And believe me I've been to jamborees where either or both were needed so prepare for both extremes of weather. And don't forget rain gear!

Somehow I doubt that you would want to spend most your time in the RV because Craven is so much more than just the main stage entertainment. You will want to tour the acres and acres of campgrounds to see the menagerie of 'RV's' and I use that term loosely!(LOL) You will probably want to visit the beer gardens where kids of course are not allowed.

Yes, there will be some kids there with their families but very few. I always had my son bring one of his friends to help keep him company. They tended to stay close to the RV while I took in the festivities. It was always a hassle to keep walking back and forth to check on them even though we stayed in touch with cellphones.

All in all it was still a good experience taking my son and I recommend it but not for the entire 3 days. It will be too much for both of you! At the very least go alone the first day and then decide how to make it comfortable for both of you. There are buses running back and forth from the cities hourly or you can always drive back to pick him up and anything else you may need.

Even though I had my RV there I usually drove back to the city at least once or twice just to get several hours of quiet time and a good long hot shower with soft water at home! Be prepared for lots of dust........... ooooooooooor MUD!!!!! And again.... don't forget to pack rain gear!(LOL)

Thanks. I'm still debating on the camping, if we do the camping it would be in a tent since I do not have an RV. Most likely would end up driving back and forth and sleeping at home, but not sure yet.
