| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 8:49:40 AM | Hello Hockey fans all around the world...
The draft just a few days away and the the free agency period begins. With that theis thread is designed to open discussion on team rosters. The moves and the signings of NHL teams.
Come September as rosters start to fill out we will conduct a draft and maintain a hockey pool right here on this site. The playoffs will also have a pool.
All the rules will be set out prior to the beginning of the pool and the discussion of the rules starts.....now!

| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 8:58:52 AM | Rule suggestions...
1. Team owers(You) will name your team conduct the draft and make trades. 2. Teams will consist of 9 forwards, 2 defensemen, 1 goalie. 3. Team owners will pick 0ne player from 9 forward pools, 2 defense pools and 1 goalie pool. 4. Points will be based on the NHL game stats... 1 point per assist, 1 point per goal. 5. Goaltenders points based on wins. 6. Each team owner make make 3 trades over the course of a year and 1 injury substitution.

| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 11:17:16 AM | few questions first..
how is the order of the draft being made? is it going to be a snake draft? can i trade draft picks for others? say number 1 overall for 5 and the swap 2nd rounders if snake draft.
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 11:32:17 AM | Smack my idea... (but everyone can decide differently) is to group several players together than each team owner picks a player from each grouping. This is done in many pools now where not everyone can get togeather to actually hold a draft.
Technically everyone could have the same team but I doubt that will happen.
Lets discuss it. I am not making the pool rules I will simply moderate it.
A trade would simply be exchanging one underperforming player for a different player in the same group. The points from that date on would be counted.
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 1:59:13 PM | """ Goaltenders points based on wins.""" Nothing for shutouts?
I think we need 4 defencemen...
What's the trade deadline? and do we have any recourse in case of a season-ending injury?
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 2:07:12 PM | Sly it can be as big as the group wants. Trade deadline can match the NHLs. What do you want for injuries? | |
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 2:19:47 PM | I don't really want anything for injuries. Maybe they should be part of the three deals a GM can make thru the season. So if I pick say marty in net, and three weks into the sked he sprains his back and could be out 8 to 10 weeks, I can either gamble and keep him, or chuck him as one of my three deals.
I did that with Souray a couple of years back when he still had his head up his arse pining over his divorce with his movie star wife. As soon as he sprained his pinky finger and missed a game, he was gone. I think that was the same year marty B was terrible early on and I was gonna trade him but i hung on keeping the faith and he went on to another 40 win season despite a horrific start. He did have a little injury early and i had the chance to dump him for either eddie the eagle or Cujo, but i hung in with brodeur and he came thru for me.

| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 2:28:37 PM | | Once we get everyone in here we we can vote on the rules. | |
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 6:58:52 PM | | ok.ill go with whatever the rules turn out to be. | |
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/16/2008 9:17:36 PM | Well that sounds like 4 of us. I was hoping to get at least 10. Remember to register your team names ASAP. Should we limit the Nicknames to one per pool. eg. only one Cadiens, only one Bruins? | |

| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/24/2008 8:18:38 AM | Rule Suggestions for the POFHL
Points Per Goal 1 Points Per Assist 1 Minimum # of Goalies 2 Points Per Goalie ShutOut 1 Goalie Points Per Game Win 1 Goalie's Goals/Assists Count Yes Minimum # of Defensemen
How many Players do we want in the pool. 2 Lines? 3 Lines? 2 D? 4 D? 1 Goalie?
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/24/2008 8:32:59 AM | 1 point goal 1 point assist 1 point win 5 points shutout plus/minus added or subtracted to players 4 lines 7 defenceman 2 goalies and we pick players draft style | |
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/24/2008 9:18:53 AM | How could we possible get everyone together for a draft?
My suggestion is to pick from pools of similar players. The number of pools will be detirmed by the roster sizes. Please not to many players as compiling this will become a nightmare.
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/24/2008 9:35:14 AM | """...1 point win 5 points shutout plus/minus added or subtracted to players 4 lines 7 defenceman 2 goalies and we pick players draft style..."""
Count me out.
I'm ok with 6,7 or 9 forwards 4 defence, 2 goalies, 2 pts for goalie win, 2 or maybe 3 or 5 points for shutout and 3 possible trades up to whatever deadline is set, but the guy getting traded has to be on IR. So if say, Iggy has an absolute crapper of a season, tough bananas, you're stuck with him unless he gets hurt.
Just pick from predetermined selection boxes of five players like the Toronto Star does every year. They have thousands and thousands of entrants and very seldom have 2 guys picking the same squad.
So for example in one goalie box you pick one of these five: Brodeur, Nabakov, Kip, Toskala and Luongo.
pick one of these five defenceman in another five box: Lidstrom, Phaneuf, Mike green, Campbell, Mccabe
etc etc.
Hold an entire draft...no thanks. maybe another year.

| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/24/2008 11:00:02 AM | Yes Sly that was my idea for the picking of the players. How about 3 lines 6 D and 1 goalie? | |
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/25/2008 7:48:59 AM | | does the +/- thing work for you guys?how about we make it a little more challenging and remove last years top 20 scorers and just pick who ever you want | |
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/25/2008 9:21:33 AM | Ok guys we are all going off on tangets lets decide one thing at a time.
First roster size. The proposals are....
1. 4 Lines 7 D-Men 2 Goalies 21 Total Players
2. 3 Lines 6 D-Men 1 Goalie 16 Players Total
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/25/2008 9:31:02 AM | | i would like to vote 1,but not if it meens sly is out.lol.what am i saying 1 it is. | |
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/25/2008 4:46:56 PM | | I still want to get in on this and I vote for the 4 lines, 2 goalies, and 4 defensemen, which leaves room for 3 more picks of :any choices???:. Am I going at this about right? I vote to get off with a draft of sorts, taking place on a date we all can live with. I know we must all be present for this, so will this be on a weekend day, evening? OK, that's my vote guys. | |
|
| Hockey Pool Posted: 6/25/2008 4:49:14 PM | | And reading through some of the posts, I agree with the 21 player, thinking of needing 2 goalies, rather than one. HAs anyone made that choice yet?? | |
