It assists in helping students understand why being too egotistical can lead to repeated headaches.
As I get older I appreciate Tai Chi Chuan more & more. Aikido is also fun as it is the same effects whether practiced at half-speed or Full speed. My knees no longer enjoy the high & jumping kicks of TKD, but I'll still get fancy every now & then just so nobody forgets why I'm the Boss . I'm getting way too old for regular practice in Krav Maga & Muay Thai, for I like my ribs right where they are these days, but i've kept a few favored moves just in case...because if you absolutely positively need to kill someone fast, Krav Maga does the trick.
Besides, I'm teaching my nine yr old TKD & Tai Chi on alternating weeks. By the time he's feeling his teenage oats I'll still be a few steps ahead...and I'll NEED to be
Rule One is "Do not act incautiously when confronting a little bald wrinkly smiling man". Especially if it is O-Sensei. Rule Nineteen is: "Remember Never to Forget Rule One".

| who trains martial arts in here-what did u/do u train in Posted: 6/19/2008 10:24:58 AM | | I have trained martial arts most of my life. Mixed martial art styles from Tae Kwon Do, Japanese Ju Jutsu, various Okinawan Karate styles "which are mostly the same" and Koryu Uchinadi. My longest run in any style was Okinawa Kenpo Karate Kobudo. I got up to 3rd dan in both those arts. Now I mostly train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, been doing that for probably 3 plus years it is my favorite art. | |

Buggered my knee and had to quit which was a major blow .Now I do boxing and really enjoy it . Was surprised at how much tougher it is than the kickboxing . I guess its because they`re is no quarter given in the ring . Proper stuff , good guard , good posture and a PMA will always beat a thug .

I try to go as often as I can (e.g. 3 days/week). Eventually, I'd like to get into sparring, but not for another year or so.
As for other disciplines, I've also been interested in trying either Karate or Kung Fu.
