nope, no racism here, the Republican party continues its perfect track record of not making Obama's non white status an issue.
A booth at this weekend’s Texas Republican convention sold buttons asking, “If Obama Is President…Will We Still Call It The White House?"
The company that makes the buttons boasts providing “Patriotic and Republican Products.” Another button they sell features a picture of Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), with the phrase: “Life’s a b**ch, don’t vote for one.”

| GOP convention button asks, ‘If Obama is president…will we still call it the White House?’ Posted: 6/17/2008 1:14:18 PM | Did the Convention make the button?
I think that the button is completely racist. But completely labeling this as a Repulican effort is just reaching at best. The OP is just looking to get people to flame him so he can start a flame war.
The person that made Obama's race an issue was Reverend Wright.
He let the cat out of the bag and forced all the media outlets to focus on that issue, which in turn caused Obama to give his race speech, where he said that he couldn't condem Wright cause he was like an Uncle to him.
Of course, as soon as Wright was ruining Obama's polling, he immediately threw him under the bus.
If you are looking for rascism.
Start with Reverend Wright, he has been preaching Racism and Bigotry for well over 20 years.

I think that the button is completely racist. But completely labeling this as a Repulican effort is just reaching at best. Hardly a stretch at all.
It was being sold at a registered booth at a Republican convention which makes it at least tacitly endorsed (care to cover my bet that there were no pro-universal health care booths?).
It might be different if it was being sold on the street outside where the Republicans have no control over it but inside...?

don't care who is there, always the white house
god forbid ... obama would live there ...
maybe he could call it the "i hate my white grandmother house"
or ... maybe he could call it the "i was a muslim" house...
or maybe he could call it ... the " my wife is finally proud to be an american house"
so many choices ....
what to think? | |

| GOP convention button asks, ‘If Obama is president…will we still call it the White House?’ Posted: 6/17/2008 2:34:39 PM | It's true that the pin is politically incorrect. So was Hillary Clinton's reference to spadework. So was Clinton supporter Andrew Cuomo's "shuck and jive" comment. Gosh! Obama is the most oppressed guy ever!
as soon as Wright was ruining Obama's polling, he immediately threw him under the bus Under the bus is fine. If he had sent him to the back of the bus, it would have been a scandal.
It might be different if it was being sold on the street outside where the Republicans have no control over it but inside...? Republicans believe in free markets and freedom of thought, so it could very well have been an individual initiative.

Nothing to see here.
Also see the memo, purple heart band aids are in no way an indication that purple hearts should be taken seriously. (unless a Republican has it)
Also corporate welfare isn't free markets, censorship of pornography isn't free speech.

When Obama made his comment about people "clutching their bibles and their guns" he caught hell for being insensitive and out of touch. But when Republicans do something similar, it's all about "stop being so sensitive, it was just a joke. It was all in good clean fun". But I'm sure that people will have no problem rationalizing it to themselves, and through groupthink convince each other that it's perfectly acceptable.

Also see the memo, purple heart band aids are in no way an indication that purple hearts should be taken seriously. (unless a Republican has it) Say it with me Charles, "IT'S OK IF YOUR A REPUBLICAN!!" lol
If Mccain is elected it might as well be an outhouse cause we'll all be swimming in eight more years of shit Soooooo funny!!!!
wonder why they always have to go after his race....and then claim it is a non issue. they don't call it the red house for their current red neck prsident.

It's called muck raking at it's best, hired guns to slap down the opponent, nothing new here as it was used successfully against Sen.Kerry which was a fabricated by the Republican hired guns. Now after what the Bush and Cheney did in the last 8 years of circumventing Congress, the Constitution, the national debt which your kids and grandkids will inherit, they stopped stem cell research, the CIA bumbling, anti American sentiment world wide, need I go on. The White House will be the White House and the interpretation of the Constitution will continue. And the Supreme Court will still have the final say in justice and the 'common good for all'.

I guess they are implying if he became president, they'd have to change the name of the white house to the black house. But if you want to get technical about it, Obama is half white. That button reminds me of what someone else said awhile back: On 7/7/06, Mexican American professor Armando Navarro, who has organized many pro-illegal alien rallies, was quoted in the Los Angeles Times as saying, "A new majority is forming. Everything will change. The White House will be within our reach. We might have to change the name to the Brown House." http://blogs.rockymountainnews.com/speakout/2007/01/comprehensive_immigration_refo.html#comments
