| Stopping in the parking lot Posted: 6/18/2008 1:09:08 AM | | Tonight I was at the grocery store with my mom, and when we came out there was a car PARKED in the fire lane right in front. Waiting for somebody. I keep seeing that more and more often. Has it become acceptable behavior? Did I miss the memo? | |

.........keep the motor running...I'll only be minute! With gas prices as they are, they must have $$$ to burn.

| Stopping in the parking lot Posted: 6/18/2008 9:55:00 AM | | They weren't there when I went in, they were there when I came out. Around here, chances are greater that it's just some self involved prick. | |
|
| Stopping in the parking lot Posted: 6/18/2008 10:33:38 AM | | And lets not forget the people who park 'badly' on purpose to take up one spaces and just enough of the one next to it to make it impossible to get in. | |

People are LAZY. Plain and simple, someone didn't want to walk their lazy butt 150 feet further to a parking spot.

Two-space parkers = a key dragged down the side of the car. I love that sound.... I often fantasize about doing this, but as one who gets karma for looking cross eyed, I don't.
I did once park next to a woman in a building that I used to work in. She drove a Porsche and had a penchant for parking over the line so no one could park next to her. Parking was at a premium and not being able to find another convenient spot, I parked next to her. It was priceless to watch her trying to maneuver her Porsche and not hit the clunker Tercel that I was driving at the time.

Oh, please. People that aren't robbing anything do this all the time.

Perhaps some heave steel spikes on the front of your walker would do?

Miss W has an evil streak-and that is why we get along so well! Awwww...shucks.
Perhaps some heave steel spikes on the front of your walker would do? I have visions and I'm sure that she could come off as oh so as she impales the offenders.
One of my peeves is when 2 people park in opposite directions in the middle of the street, engines running and stop traffic, making you have to drive around them. Pull over and chit chat for crying out loud!
|
| Stopping in the parking lot Posted: 6/18/2008 7:25:57 PM | Oh, man. Next time someone does that to me I plan to pull right up to their bumper and lay on the horn-and I'm not stopping until one of them moves.
I see this happen all the time-especially at Wal-Mart and grocerey stores. The absolute worst is outside the bank I usually go to. You have to turn in to a very narrow driveway that barely has room for two cars, and the curb is painted as a no park zone...but it's RIGHT by the ATMs so people park there all the time. It also usually blocks the wheelchair ramp.

| Stopping in the parking lot Posted: 6/20/2008 6:07:31 PM | lol this is a source of fun for me I love to stop right behind them and honk $%#% out of my horn till they move... | |
|
| Stopping in the parking lot Posted: 6/20/2008 8:55:45 PM | I always wait in the parking area until my friend/whatever comes walking out.
Not only are the people in the OP being lazy, they are also being impatient. Tweekers!!!

| Stopping in the parking lot Posted: 6/21/2008 2:01:53 AM | Personally I find that after I hotwire a car it just makes good sense to leave it runnin' in case it won't start again rather than park in an actual spot...sorry, didn't see the no parking fire lane sign hehehe | |

| Stopping in the parking lot Posted: 6/25/2008 9:50:13 PM | You know, I don't understand why people get so upset at a car parked badly.
Almost everyone has done it at some point or other...
If the parking lot is half-full, people who misjudge a spot and are in a hurry might not bother to repark figuring, "There's plenty of space around, no big deal if I take up two spots." And, really, they're right... I couldn't care less if someone parked in two spots if there's another open spots a few spaces away.
In a crowded lot, sometimes it's a chain reaction. One person parks badly... but leaves enough space next to them for a small car to get in. The small car gets in, but they themselves had to park crooked and over the line. The first car leaves and the second car is now left looking like they parked all crappy for no good reason.
People get their panties all in a bunch over one car taking up one and a half spots... but it's usually only because they're frustrated about arriving to a full lot and it feels better to take that aggression out on someone than just chalking it up to bad luck -- "Oh, it's because of that big SUV parked slightly over the line that I can't park!! Curse them!! *shakes fist*"
In reality, though, if that second spot had been available, some other car would have been parked there and the lot would still be full... which would leave you with... *gasp*... noone to blame!

Not even the woman with a disability that makes a ramp highly desirable but is blocked by some lazy genius? Parking isn't all that hard to do right. Why defend the lazy?

People get upset over bad parking all the time. You're gonna defend that by pointing out a situation that happens maybe 1% of the time?
Okay, you win. Yes it sucks when a person parks in a manner that makes it difficult for handicap people to park.
Now give me something for the 99-out-of-a-100 other situations where people get all bent out of shape over a parking job.

Yeah, I hit "Reply" to another message and thought it would quote it for me (didn't realize I had to do the manual "quote" thing). Guess it was kind of a threadjack.
Apologies.
