| Drive Thru Bans Posted: 6/18/2008 8:56:41 AM | It seems London(Ontario, Canada) is considering a drive thru ban- the city council was supposed to discuss it yesterday, but they received way too many people for the town meeting and was dismissed because of such(or thats the story I heard.....its hard to remove the rumors versus the fact for local news....)
I mean, I can see the logic behind some of the ideas of a ban- less car emmissions means less pollution, which means a happier and cleaner London.....but then again, wouldn't that mean we'd need more parking spaces, and thus less green spaces? Have greater traffic in parking lots? More difficulty for parents of young children, and the handicapped/elderly?
I have a real problem understanding the logic behind such a law....

| Drive Thru Bans Posted: 6/18/2008 9:56:19 AM | Hmmm.....maybe this can be more useful, although it seems that Vancouver and Toronto considered or may be still considering a simular ban, according to a quick glance through Google;

That been said, I still cannot find a good reason to support the ban, other than as a feel good measure that hurts hundreds of local businesses with no actual positive effect....

| Drive Thru Bans Posted: 6/18/2008 11:29:16 AM | | Yet another pseudo solution to a non existant problem. Something that gives politicians something to do I guess. The absurdity of it all is that detroit has the best and brightest minds on this problem and the real solution will be implemented by them over time. Whatever reduction in greenhouse gasses results by this law will not offset the inconvinence and anoyance the average person will have to endure. | |
