| DERBY/NOTTS BBQ & PHOTO EVENT, 22nd June, IMAGES & COMMENTS

Admittedly as the host my opinions may be somewhat biased. But I’ve just returned home from what has to be one of the most enjoyable daytime POF events I’ve attended so far – from what I saw of it that is! And much appreciation to the Boundary manager and staff and, of course, Sparkles and Misheru should go without saying really. 
Moreover, HUGE THANKS to each and every one of you for showing up and being great company. I know I’ve said it before, and no doubt will again. But there really is a fantastic, warm, friendly and family-like camaraderie amongst many POF event attendees, the likes of which I suspect owners of many similar websites are envious to varying degrees.
It is indeed YOU, the collective membership and all your lovely guests, who make the effort in organising these events worthwhile. Without you, the most important ingredients of the party formula, quite simply we would have no such gatherings. So I thank you all once again for turning up and making our first BBQ and Profile Photo Event such a great one. 
Regarding photos, I will endeavour to upload them sometime during the next day or so. In the meantime, I’ll leave you to mull over and practice what to do in relation to moving images to your profile when they do appear below. Hence I’ve uploaded image number 1, on which you can click and read instructions in advance.
Come to think of it, to maximise distribution of the instructions, I’ll repeat the simple process here:
“VIEWING, COPYING AND PASTING IMAGES TO YOUR PROFILE”
1. Move your cursor over the image and click to open before clicking on it a second time. This will open the photo to its full resolution, making it larger and clearer to view.
2. To copy, right click over the image and choose your saving option and destination folder, (example ‘save as’ in my pictures/my documents), from where you can upload it to your profile gallery at your leisure.
3. Having viewed/saved an image, click the red X to close it and return to the event’s photo gallery. Easy peasy. Job done!
NOTE. If you don’t open the image fully before saving and copying, in all likelihood it will end up fuzzy when viewed on your profile. If this happens, practice until you master the copying process as explained above and also by clicking on image number one.

I have to echo all that BB have sad .It was lovely to see so many people there and alot of new faces too ..Many of you came on your own and thats great well done ..Was also great to see the old faces too so dont go sulking you lot lol
Kepep your eyes on the Forums for up and coming events and if you have idea's around types of events you think you and others may like then let us know .
BB our resident David Bailey did us proud with is able and willing assistant the lovely Sparkles...crikey sounds like a knife thorwing act or something
The BBQ was good and seesm all got eaten ...BB did mange to get the last 2 sausages.
Thanks to all the Staff and Management at the Boundry who made us very welcome

Posted: 6/22/2008 1:19:27 PM | Hi to you all what another fab daytime mini meet was had by all! The turn out was good to well past 5:15 and then it thinned out a bit!
As usuall a big hello goes out to Sparkles, Misheru, Derby Minx [the practicing is comming on by the way. . . . Billy don't be a hero! we will knock em dead on thursday love!]
A hello and a big glad you came to the festivitie goes out to all the newbies, especially to the the lady with the two little girls and the one with the little boy in the pushchair and their friend who sat to the right of the bar. Hope you all had a good time and will be back for more!
Thankyou to all my table quests the lovley welsh lass Claire and her son who my son thinks is fab! Anne who i havent seen for soooooo long . . . . . . and the guy whoes name i didnt catch who sat at the side of me and of course the geourges and licle bit pooowley Barbarella !Liam and Meg and her other half my longtime licle mate Groovey man good things do come in small packages! Love you all lots!
And of course a big thankyou has to go to bil for his effort organizing this lovely afternoon! Hope you got my goodside mister!
Sorry to all thoes i havent mentioned as you are all as important in making the afternoons the fab sucess that they always seem to be.

Posted: 6/22/2008 1:35:35 PM | Well. the painting was put on hold but I'm glad I decided to come along. It was good to see the people I chatted to at my first Derby meet last month. Sorry I didn't mingle much but maybe its easier after a few drinks. Thanks to all those that made me feel welcome yet again. Hopefully be able to come along on Friday night but all depends on my lovely mum - sure she will oblige and have her gorgeous granddaughter to stay- bit of creeping needed here!

thanks to the hosts. It was great to meet some of you and my friend has finally realised that not all Internet people are weirdos... (Mooo haaa HAAAAA!!!!!)
It was nice to meet Groovey and his lovely lady (and her equally great kids) - might bring some lippy for next time, Groov, so wotch yer 'ead mate... and thanks for that hysterically funny moment with my friend and the photo... ;)

Well Pisces Baby and myself were certainly glad we were able to make this event and had a great time. It was so much more relaxed and easier for having conversations not having to compete with music. The Zanzibar Party meets are still fantastic though and definitely worth going to; we really hope we will make it on Friday and see you all again.
I'll keep you all posted on my progress regards the stem cell donation as so many of you were kind enough to enquire about this and asked to be kept informed.
However, it would be better if my actions could stir one or two others into joining a Bone Marrow Register as well!
Barberella - it was so good to see you having such agood time despite your recent visit to hospital. Hope you heal up fully soon.
GrooveSpirit - good to see you again, even without the kisses all over your head!
HazelRose4 it was nice to chat to you and I hope your mum comes good for Friday so you can make the Derby Zanzibar party.
Barbelbil and co-hosts - thanks once again for another fantastic event, your efforts really are appreciated.

Well what a great day we all had yesterday and i just want to add my thanks along with everyone else's to our fantastic Host's, Barblebill,Sparkles,Misheru and Groovespirit, as always you have done us proud, throughly enjoyed it and made such a nice change being able to caht without shouting over the music lol, not that we dont like the music that is :)
A couple of shout out's to friends, if i miss anyone out i apologize now lol, but cant stay on here all day lol..

Note that the images I took on Sunday are now uploaded and numbered from 1 to 191 for the purpose of easy identification. Should anyone wish to have any photographs edited or deleted, please make the request by directly mailing myself or a global site moderator such as Puddles.
As I feel they do the subjects more justice (as I suspected they might when shooting), I’ve uploaded more images with black backdrops than the blue variety. Some of you will also find you have more images from which to choose than other members do; not through favouritism at all, but more because I found it difficult to select the best of the bunch. Hence, I thought it best left to them to do the choosing.
Wherever possible and to be as fair as possible to everyone, I’ve offered all subjects a reasonable selection of crops and poses. Hence I trust that you all find at least one or two of the images to your liking and deem them suitable for your profile galleries.
Again, my sincere appreciation goes to everyone who turned up to the event. Have fun with the images.

Posted: 6/23/2008 12:44:23 PM | Belated thanks to our excellent organisers again, also to BB for all the portrait work and the low-down on speed-dating (my own worst nightmare!), Sparkles (oi, no airbrushing needed!), Mish and DerbyMinx for the usual warm welcome.
Much as I love getting a chance to get up and shake my tail-feathers about, this venue was great for just getting to know folks without having to holler into each others ears!
Also thanks to everyone else who talked to me, amongst others, CAB21 (hope you got the rest of the shrubbery out of your hair!), Geminii, (and your Liverpool mate with the hat whose id I can't find!) , Chyna Blue, x Debs x, ClareElope and Supermum.

Posted: 6/23/2008 1:39:28 PM | A great turnout and another very successful mini-meet, further proof if it were needed that the smaller events are often more interesting, better fun, and ultimately allow you to actually get to know other people better. Add to this the bar, the BBQ and the amazing photographer's studio (!), and it transformed a real 'out of the box' idea into a great fun afternoon for POF members and their families alike.
Major thanks of course go to Barbelbil for the organisation and the graft behind the camera. Credit where it's due, the afternoon produced a large and very impressive series of excellent photos, and there were some noticeably photogenic results. Except mine of course....... Despite words of encouragement from Barbelbil and Sparkles (First Lady of The Photographic Studio), every time I smiled I still resembled a maniac with something painful stuck up his jacksie. Still, the man is a photographer and not a miracle worker, and the results are a damn sight better than my own pics, so I've gladly taken the opportunity to change some of my own profile pics, and I'm sure many more will follow! 
Extra special shouts go out to my gorgeous lady Barberella and to Misheru for helping me avert a minor crisis earlier in the day, and for Mish and Sparkles ensuring things went smoothly.
Great as well to see so many familiar faces......Debs, Derbyminx, Pisces Baby and Pinballrik, A Supermum, Clareelope, DerbrA09, Chyna Blu, Hazelrose, Timesplitter, St Rob and last but not least Mr Saraya-9 
Quite a few new faces as well, great to see newbies at this meet, most of which (as usual!) I unfortunately forget the names of, but enjoyed chatting to DJDazz, and also to the hilarious Speranza and friend Karen. Despite me being rubbish with names, I gotta big up all the new people that turned up cos you're the ones that keep the meets going and keep things interesting at these events  | |

Posted: 6/24/2008 3:59:59 AM | Once again...Many thanks to our much loved host and friend Barbelbill and our much loved assistants and friends Sparkles and Misheru for another great meet. It was great to see you three again. And what a lovely warm welcome. we had a great afternoon and everyone looks great on their photo's but i'm having probs transferring my pics and viewing them in my pics folder on my pc. Have followed instructions and although they look like they'd transferred it comes up as "no preview available" when i try to open them. Never had this before. Even tied to email the photo's to myself and still no joy. BUT!!.....Had a lovely afternoon anyway. Great to catch up with the friends we've made so far.
Was really please to see you there Barberella, with your kids. You take care honey. Big Hug to you. X . And great to see you, too, GrooveSpirit. X.
Was also great to see DerbyMinx, Clareelope, Hazelrose and Chyna blu again.
Spoke to a few other ladies too but I'm terrible at remembering names first time round so please accept my apologies but It was good to talk to you though ladies .
Good to see St Rob again, even though we didn't get chance to chat.
Was also good to see the guy (and once again my memories gone!!) who wore a suit to the last Zanzibars party. Pinballrik and i bumped into you chatting with two ladies as we were leaving. Nice to talk to you ladies and nice to see you again Mr. Just wish i could remember your name. lol.

My first update!
I had my first set of injections (it's a growth serum to promote the production of white blood stem cells in my marrow and get them into my bloodstream) on Sunday in my right arm shortly before we set off for the BBQ. I was feeling fine.
Yesterday lunchtime i had the second set in my left arm and thought I was alright until I got up out of my chair to go home at 5pm. The pain in my lower back was agonising but eased off shortly after Igot home and took some paracetamols.
I woke up this morning with an aching back, seering pain through my ribs (for just a few seconds) and a runny nose (flu symptoms are a side affect as well as aching bones etc.) so took more paracetamol.
Had my third set of jabs about half an hour ago, this time in my tummy (wonder where they'll be tomorrow!). Still aching and am thinking of going home from work - will decide shortly.
Tomorrow we go down to London where I have a blood test to see how many stem cells I have produced prior to getting the fourth set of injections, which may be altered in strength depending upon the results of the blood test.
Then on Thursday I'm hooked up to a machine for five hours whilst they harvest the stem cells from my blood (it's a bit like dyalasis).
I'll let you know how I get on when we get back at the weekend - but hopefully I'll be able to tell you to your faces at Zanzibar in Derby on Friday night! | |

Thanks again to everyone who turned up to the BBQ event. Due to its overwhelming success, I can feel another one coming on in due course.
Now to sort those images I took at last night's Derby Zanzibar party, which, all being well from an eye strain perspective, I should have uploaded by tomorrow evening.
