I'm curious as to how long everyone has been on POF, how has your experience been here? Good bad ugly? How many people have you met off of this website. Any success stories?
Personally:
I have been on POF for a year and a half. I left once a few months ago due to drama. But I came back after it all blew over. I have met some really, really cool guys ( a couple of them have become my close friends) on this website. That is a good thing, one of those guys is the person that keeps me sane and steady right now. I have met some crazy people ( I'm talking about CRAZY....spaghetti baseball hat wearing, running around walmart with no underwear on and telling everyone crazy) The biggest surprise for me here is finding FEMALE friends. I would'nt have ever excepted that. On other daitng websites most women are competing against one another. It's slightly different here. I like the Georgia Pond community. That's another different thing I've found here. I've dated quite a few men from this site, obviously I haven't met THE ONE yet, but I am confident that I will when I'm ready.
I'd sum up my experience here as; stuck somewhere in between good and bad. Good because of the friends I've made here and the opportunity I've had to meet people and get out of my shell, and bad because of the guys I"ve run across that want me for one thing only.

I joined in January 2006.....I've met some interesting folks and can only describe them from my perspective. I won't go into details but I joined only to respond to a
post typed by some guy named Blu here in th GA pond. It's been a rollercoaster ride ever since. I'd better  too many secrets I'd have to give up telling this story.
This is enuff for now. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll give the rest of the juicy bits in dribs
and drabs.

Posted: 6/22/2008 9:47:18 PM | I have been a member since Jan 2008. I have met a few nice women on here. Made some good friends. But still  for the keeper.
So far no crazies. I did meet one of those on eharmony (insert "The Twilight Zone" theme song here), at the end of my membership. eharmony isn't any better than POF. It just costs mucho dinero. I did eharmony for a year & a half. Only one good friendship from eharmony.

Posted: 6/23/2008 4:03:51 AM | i originally joined in December of 2006. I've done several get togethers and made a LOT of friends. Haven't found THE One, and quite honestly, no longer looking. Friends are great and I"m getting old and set in my ways.
For the most part, it's been great, except for... dummmmm dah dumm dummm... the DRAMA and the childish rules (not a protest, just a statement of fact!) and it's not the same pond as was when I joined. However, when you introduce new fish and former fish leave, that happens. It's just a different pond.... new plant life....
Along with some wolfiefrogs

Posted: 6/23/2008 10:53:29 AM | I joined in May 08 and I don't have a picture posted, but I have still been fortunate enough to meet a few very decent people ( and I have offended, been offended, and I have scared, and been scared by a few also).
I signed on to meet people and if I am lucky enough to find one good FRIEND that we would want to become a couple then great, but you can't chat with someone and be married to them before you even meet in person-that is just extremely creepy and way too needy for my preferences.
So, I am single but I have enjoyed being able to go out and enjoy the company of someone who is on the same page as me.

Posted: 6/25/2008 4:47:29 AM | | I joined POF 3/06 - dated off and on for awhile - but then el presidente held a nice get together in place called Metter on St. Patrick's Day weekend -- met some nice people not anyone that really stuck out - but at the time I was seeing someone a freind had introduce me to-- I thought at the time a nice guy and the one for me. Several months sown the line - went to what was my last POF gathering - was tried of all the crap that went along with dating at my age . We meet up again - starting talking at the party - both had just stop seeing whomever we were seeing ( we talked about the horrors of dating) , we keep talking after the party - emailing and such -- first date was of sort aPOF birthday party --- it went from there - that was August of 07 - in March 08. I moved from Albany to Statesboro - we have been together since . It is now June 08 and we couldn't be happier . -- I experience on POF has been wonderful and hope that everyone else finds what they are looking for ( whatever that may be). | |

I'm part of a local singles group that has some great people in it that I consider close friends. Those women are 2 of them. But I'm not taken at all.  | |

I have been in the forest with liberal tree huggers. I have cried wolf, but never personified one. I found one on here I could never catch, but surely will always miss. It's an expereince I am happy to have. | |
