Posted: 6/22/2008 10:42:35 PM | Heart failure..I'm totally shocked as just this afternoon I was pitching a story to a friend in the story was a ghost who I protrayed as George Carlin..I'm really going to miss this guy..I never met him in person but used to work for a guy that was good friends with Mr. Carlin.. He was the most logical and realistic comedian I knew of George Carlin, Rest In Peace.. | |

I have so many of his tapes, but never got to see him live. You always think there will be time. He’s one of the few men I can quote extensively; I spent so many hours laughing listening to those tapes...
He made you laugh, but he also made you think. | |

He's been on the other side for a little over 5 hrs now. I hope he's had time to find a nice soft chair, roll one up and get nicely toasted.

How many artists of ANY kind can you say that about?
My all time favorite from my teens (in the 70's) when my mom first hipped me to him. I have so many great memories of listening to the Little David Vinyl LPs (like Class Clown and AM/FM) with my mom (who got to see him live in Vegas in the 90's).
George is STILL my favorite today, probably forever.
God Bless You George. Thanks for sharing all those 'Brain Droppings' (his term).
I hope you're wrong about the nonexistance of Heaven...because you've sure earned a good spot for all the thought-provoking belly laughs. | |

Posted: 6/22/2008 11:42:51 PM | Very disheartening news... I figured the guy could live forever somehow. He was always so full of energy and the right stuff when it came to humor. I've got to get a few more of his skits on CD before I'll never be able to find them again. I wish him luck in passing, he was a great guy. A lot of people are going to miss him, I certainly will.

Carlin has been a strong influence on me, guiding and shaping my thinking. Funny or serious, he always pushed us to think freely and independently, to trust no authority - including him.
Carlin was one of the funniest people who ever lived, and one of the most thought-provoking. More than all the jokes, this is the Carlin line I'll always remember best: "If your kid needs a role model, and you ain't it, you're both fvcked." | |
