Remember when those 7 words where taboo , no chance of hearing them on TV?

I do, and hopefully we will all remember the comedy and good laffs the man who gave them to us, he was topical, intelligent, and always had a way with a phrase.

Rest in peace George Carlin, we hardly knew ya.

Sh1T, P!ss, FuQue, C**T, KOquesucker, MotherFuQuer, & T!Ts, and T!ts doesn't even belong on the list

peace

I think, now, you can't say the F-word, and with it, Motherfu3ker, the C-word, and the other C-word...(c0ck), the n-word, unless you're black, and that's pretty much it.

I watch South Park to decide my social dialect dialogue.

Yes, and I remember exactly where I was when I first heard them! My grandmother had a George Carlin record and her boyfriend played it while I was visiting. I was 11 years old ....and boy oh boy did my grandmother give him sh!t for playing it while I was there. Rest all their souls.......

Carlin played a couple of memorable characters on TV as an old father of a guy .... I remember his "son" ended up with the cute girl in the show, and Carlin shakes his head in wonder and dead-pans his line.. "Just goes to show ya -- some days the sun even shines in a dog's ass".

Broke me up when I heard it.

Just a couple of days ago it was announced he was going to be awarded a Kennedy Centre Hounors and some of today's biggest comic names were going to be presenting his material.... now wonder whether they will still do that as the honoree is normally sitting in the front row of the balcony.

I had the chance to see him live in 2005, he was the greatest comedian of all time. In honour of him, here's my favorite passage from one of his books.

I don't like ass kissers, flag wavers or team players. I like people who buck the system. Individualists. I often warn kids: "Somewhere along the way, someone is going to tell you, 'There is no "I" in team.' What you should tell them is, 'Maybe not. But there is an "I" in independence, individuality and integrity.'"
Avoid teams at all cost. Keep your circle small. Never join a group that has a name. If they say, "We're the So-andSos," take a walk. And if, somehow, you must join, if it's unavoidable, such as a union or a trade association, go ahead and join. But don't participate; it will be your death. And if they tell you you're not a team player, congradulate them on being observant.

Gone at 71, yesterday(Sunday), of a heart attack!
TOO SAD!
I loved the guy and I am not much of a comediian person compared to those who are.
Died much too early imho.

Those seven words may have made him groundbreaking and famous but,
I believe it is a lot more than that which clinched the longevity of his popularity.

He will be missed mostly because it wasn't just humor - but the social commentary and the way he looked at the world! Truly one of the best. And a loss. But thank goodness for re-runs, DVDs and books.!

Wow, that is sad. I've got 3 of his stand up videos and they're hilarious. Guess with his passing they'll all be re-mastered to DVD which is great.

His humor was a bright spot of comedy in a world that has become too worried about offending a tiny demographic of people that have never even heard his material. I use George's material as a basis as to what kind of sense of humor a girl has. If she laughs at his jokes, the next couple of rounds are on me. Girls that laugh at Mr. Carlin are okey dokey in my books.

He said it like it was and made a lot of enemies.

On Larry King he said he got alone with people one on one but when you get two together then they change. He said that is why he has no use for any organized religion. He was a great observer on group dynamics.

I was not a big fan of his but I have to respect the guy because he was never afraid to say how he felt.

That is all,
BS

How can death be unexpected?

As George said, "Geez, I hope I don't die... oh, by the way, you're all going to die! Didn't mean to remind you of it, but it is on your schedule."

I remember him as the "Conductor" on the children's how Shining Time Station.

He was not so foul mouthed then.

I don't have much respect for foul mouthed comediens... but Carlin was totally capable of entertaining us in other ways as well.. RIP.

George Carlin is a hero of our time!

What a gutzy, humorous, down to earth, amazingly honest man that never minced words about anything that he felt was right.
I loved his style! Not so polite always but definately told it how it is and should be in his eyes.

His "stuff" and who he targetted made me roar everytime I heard it. He was NOT a fan of followers, thus his aiming at religous groups, etc. The 7 word bit was something he did, aiming it towards the "silencers" of the world.

I'm still laughing listening to all the stuff that has been on the last couple of days. I would have loved to sit and BS with the man for an evening,,,,or two.

His commentary kept getting even more relevant and will be for many years to come. I just realized I picked up an old vinyl record of his stuff a while back. You've all inspired me to put it on now.

RIP Mr.Carlin

I saw a thing on msn about George Carlin adn the 7 Words,
I clicked on it and saw a thing that there were 3 other words later added to that list
"Fart, Turd, and Twat"
those three are pretty tame :p
there's a song by Blink 182 called "Family Reunion" that uses all 10 of those words
