| What is the real definition of "deviant"?
Posted: 6/24/2008 1:58:53 AM | It seems to me that, if both people are consenting adults, then any act of a sexual nature is acceptable and normal. Why then am I often accused of being deviant when I indulge in practices that are both gratifying and fun??
I don't like being labelled, just because I have a healthy interest in all things sexual and a willingness to experiment! I don't like pain, don't involve animals or children, don't ask anyone to do something they would consider abhorrent....so why am I deviant?

I'm pretty much of the same opinion really, and I wouldn't worry about being 'labelled'. What two adults do together and with each other is pretty much up to them and their respective imaginations!
'Deviant' is obviously a subjective term, some couples might manage the missionary position once a week in the dark and that's it. Some are right at the other end of the spectrum and will literally try anything. IMO nothing that involves two or more consenting adults is deviant, although personally not all of it would be my cup of tea! I'd say just be happy that you're open-minded enough to experiment and try new stuff that more blinkered people wouldn't dream of, and that you can gain enjoyment from it as well  | |

Therefore homosexuality for example is deviant but reading The Daily Mail is not. Spending billions on the capability to destroy the world is normality, making love in the middle of Old Trafford, during match day or not, is deviant and will result in arrest. | |

I remember seeing a documentary on a pigmy tribe and it was tradition for the eldest son at the age of 12 to be sodomised by his father to make the transition from boyhood to manhood , here he would be classified as a deviant and defies OUR laws of common decency!!
As with those into the BDSM culture scene I would imagine there are levels of acceptance and extremities and there are pure no no's /rules!!

Just like to correct the misunderstanding/assumption of some forumites that I'm into BDSM....no pain!! It's not for me!! I like SEX and I like FUN....the two generally go hand in hand for me!
....although I do have my own sets of handcuffs.... surely that doesn't make me deviant??

But what is normal today could be out of date tomorrow.
That stands for all aspects of deviance,be it fashion,behaviour,attitudes and tastes.
Thank god that in some aspects of deviance theres so many people today that prefer to have there own mind,but it narks me that in other aspects people are like sheep:

I believe that sexual deviance can allso be seen as a norm that changes according to the times.
it was perfectly exceptable in time gone by for married men to have long term mistresses and there ladies having long term lovers.as was it the norm to have sex with 12 year olds.as was it the norm for men in roman times to be bi sexual.
And the norm at one time was for women to be pail skinned plump and unhealthy looking for them to be considered a beauty. | |
