This is an amazing site that is a tool that if used properly can produce amazing results!
Now I am on my way in growing in a new relationship...

Posted: 6/27/2008 11:42:19 AM | In actuality I think there MAY be something to the 'less than a month' thing. Some people really do come to these sites with an open mind and a desire to truly find that special someone. When they find someone they hit it off with--to any extent--they remove their profile right away, maybe even to give the new relationship the best shot they can give it. When 2 people meet who are like-minded in this way, they may well take themselves off the site right away (or at the very least hide their profiles) and try. It may be that those who keep their profile on for any length of time after meeting someone they somewhat hit it off with may be less inclined to try as hard or there may be some intuition on either side that the other is not as serious about trying as they are. Or they could just plain be more negative about it all which of course could become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
My bf and I were on several paid sites and POF. When my bf and I met, we both removed our profiles asap--within a month at most--from all paid sites. We felt we might hit it off and wanted to give it a try. The only one I kept was my POF profile which I hid (it is still hidden), removed all information from it, etc. simply because I enjoy the forums, plus I liked the idea of occasionally checking in to let everyone know how we are doing. Just my nature to be like that.
We are doing VERY well, 14 months later. My bf is truly the love of my life and I could not be happier. The more I have gotten to know him, the more I truly like him. We have become the best friends possible. We didn't know just how well we would match up in that first month of course, but we took a chance and focused completely on each other and had an optimistic attitude about it all. And it is still all good; very, very good. | |

I agree with Destiny, if people don't take thier profiles down within reasonable amount of time after meeting, how are they actually going to focus 100% on each other to even know if they are a match?
It's almost like an addiction after a while, "What IF I miss, Mr or Miss Better then who I'm with now!!?" But they could be right in front of your eyes and you don't see it because you're constantly looking outward.

But I agree there are a lot of people (not just men) playing games. When something is free a lot of people take advantage of it in the wrong way, such as looking for an upgrade when they should be trying to upgrade the situation they have presently, a little extracuricular activity or trying to see how many notches they can put on their bedpost. It makes it tough for the serious ones. Some people give love a bad name! | |
