| Heinz withdraws "gay kiss" advert Posted: 6/27/2008 9:01:14 AM | http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7475394.stm
I don't honestly believe what I have just read, particularly the comments from readers. What a load of rubbish. I particularly liked the comment that it offends both gay militants and 'normal people' from one person and the mum who said seeing same-sex kissing is stomach-churning. What is wrong with these people? The advert is a joke... IT'S A JOKE... not a political statement, not emasculating of men, not confusing to small children... IT'S A JOKE!

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 9:06:53 AM | I saw this a few days ago and was also astonished.
Ridiculous, people need to get back in their boxes and stop being paranoid. Children will quite probably react to it in much the same way they react to any two adults kissing, "Ewwwwwwwwwwww".
Utterly ridiculous, it's only a peck for heavens sake.

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 9:09:10 AM | People are all made of different stock. What you and i may find amusing and acceptable somebody else may find offensive disgusting and even upsetting. I personally wouldn't bat an eyelid at a gay kiss but everybody has different tolerences. | |

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 9:13:02 AM | i know the advert that is being referred to, but in all honesty, i don't understand, or perhaps see what's funny about it...
i don't mean that in a disgruntled way...i really don't 'get' the joke...
can someone maybe explain to me just what is supposed to be funny about it?
i do think it's ridiculous to get it removed on the grounds that it's offensive...it isn't.
if it was removed on the grounds of just not being funny though, i would wholeheartedly agree :)

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 9:18:15 AM | ^^ The product has turned the 'wife' into a chef... It is a normal family situation with a brash chef put in place of the mother figure '''
Just "you tubed" the ad....
Sorry... No really sorry .... I feel a complete bluster coming on .....
What the fekking fookity fook are these complainers thinking? Are they totally dumb? Thick? Without brain cells? When people make (what they believe to be) genuine complaints about such an inoffensive advert as that one, then God help humour ... Was that its death knell I just heard? What idiots, what numpties, what total block heads ...
No sorry I've run out of polite adjectives now .... I need to go and sit down ... Dear me I hope they bring in a law to stop these people kissing one another, can you imagine if they were allowed to breed? The offspring? ... I wonder if these complainants are the same people who poo poo those alleged complaints about china pigs being displayed on a lady's windowsill by Muslims as being petty and pointless??

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 9:32:03 AM | Funny how there is an American group so interested in an advert in the UK.
This was hilarious too.
The MPs calling for this ad to be re-instated shows how disgusting our representatives have become. Brian Keith, Ellesmere, England Poor old Brian and this new world:D

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 9:32:55 AM | Maybe they were deemed too camp for the part and are thinking of getting two lesbians to do it instead now to promote "Butch Beans" !!
To be honest I could never eat those Heinz sausage and beans in a can again after that !!

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 9:37:09 AM | | I saw this advert on telly, and thought nothing of it. Heinz took it off cos 200 people complained, it was only on air a week. When i heard about this on Monday, i was like wtf, we've had gay story lines on just about every soap in this country including kissing, and people complain about a harmless mayo advert..! | |

Some people don't have a sense of humor, think that about say's it all really.

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 10:03:35 AM | It could have been worse I suppose , the slogan "Nike, Just do it " could have been "Mike, Just do it" !!

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 10:27:12 AM | I have to admit when I first saw the advert I didnt know if I had seen right or not and asked my sister,"did that man just kiss that man " after that I didnt give it a second thought ..
I have more important things in my life to be thinking about than to complain about some advert that would have only been shown for a month or more anyway..Some folk really need to get a grip..

If they did that it would set a precedent leading to the collapse of the advertising industry.
Although Im trying to think of a reason why that would be a bad thing.
|
| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 11:15:15 AM | | Haven't seen the ad so can't comment on that. If these people are so ignorant as to complain about a man on man peck how do they react when watching football and seeing men kiss or pat each other on the bum? Why do they not complain that nappy adverts showing a baby's bum are inducing poedophilia? Do they complain about newsreaders having cleavage exposed? | |
|
| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 11:33:37 AM | | So are they going to get rid of all the soap operas on TV now as well then? They all have gay kisses in them at one time or another. | |
|
| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 11:52:36 AM | Why (other than the fact that they may have a life) dont a group of gay people write in en masse to complain to the advertising wotsit next time there is an ad with hetrosexuals kissing | |

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 4:40:59 PM | | It's perhaps a good thing they didn't screen the other advert in the series depicting the two men in bed, squirting each other with Heinz sauce and licking it off appreciatively. No doubt that one will now remain in the can. | |
|
| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/27/2008 11:18:37 PM | GOW... Just to clarify, It's not really anything like a full on snog.... All it is, is a representation of the usual nonchalant peck on the way out to work a busy and harassed husband would give to the stay at home wife ....
The husband is walking out of the house, the wife (male chef) is in the kitchen making sandwiches, she(he) calls out, 'Haven't you forgotten something?' The husband goes back to her and gives her a perfunctory peck and walks off, the wife(chef) then calls out 'Love you' ... It's not at all romantic or sexual, it is just showing the dynamics of an everyday family but replacing the mother with a rough brash New York male chef ....
|
| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/28/2008 12:26:46 AM | | ...and by "pulling" the ad, Heinz have a marketing triumph with everyone talking about the ad that most would never have seen or noticed. | |

| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/29/2008 3:17:23 AM | Is that the sweet cheeks, deli mayo adds?
I love those, and i have bought 3 flavours so far, so the marketing worked for me, and they are yummy.
I was a little surprised the first time i saw it but by no way offended.
|
| Heinz withdraws gay kiss advert Posted: 6/29/2008 3:58:30 AM | | I didn't even see the ad, like has be said previously heinz couldn't pay for this sort of publicity. | |
