| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 6/27/2008 12:33:59 PM | I have often wondered why people will post pictures of themselves with their last significant other cropped out? Is this the ONLY picture they have? Is it the only one that they think they look good in? I know many times when my best friend and I will sit down together to peruse a dating site and wonder what these folks are thinking. Or what about the folks that put up pictures then mention the picture is 2,3, ... 10 years old? Do they honestly think they havent changed?
If someone here is one of 'them' can you please explain your thought process...

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 6/30/2008 12:29:47 AM | I posted one that you are talking about. It was 1) an excellent photo 2) had my daughter in it. 3) the fact that the viewer can imagine who had been cut out was irrelevant. When I get a nicer photo, I'll replace it. However, I wouldn't want you to get the idea that I have a fettish for teasing the audience with ommisions made by odd cropping.

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 7/28/2008 10:01:42 PM | I'm with you lost, my pictuers are all current. I've only met one person so far, I've normally tried match so this site is new. I found on match that the pictures were at least 10 years and 50 pounds ago. Like you wouldn't notice that when you show up for a date? Lol.. Come on guys. My pics, all within a year. No point in using old pictures and I have enough friends and fun activities that I don't need a pic of me and an old boyfriend. | |
|
| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 7/29/2008 6:32:56 PM | ^^Aw, shucks....(scuffing toe in the dirt)...why, thank you. But flawless? Hmm...I doubt if I'd EVER go that far out on that limb myself. Nah....just good makeup application. Still, pagypsy and I HAVE met IRL and had brunch when she was visiting last year so I can verify that she looks like her pictures and she can verify that yep, that's me in mine...and they are all current.
Why bother posting old pics? I'm not mentally or emotionally the same person I was 5-10 years ago (I'm much BETTER!), so why wouldn't I want to present me as I am NOW....the slightly silly/nutty, fun-loving, intelligent, no-nonsense passionate woman with the 'killer eyes' that I've evolved into.
Besides...I don't look half-bad getting out of bed in the morning anyway...even IF I haven't gotten a full-nights' sleep.

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 7/31/2008 3:22:34 AM | | My pet peeve on pictures is the blurry shots, or the HUGE sunglasses that cover some people's best features. And don't get me started on the myspace angles. | |

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 7/31/2008 3:40:01 AM | Runs you are a hunny for sure.
As for the pics, the people I have met from POF do look like their photos. However, they were all women.
Natural beauty runs was about 25 yrs ago LOL. Today, you will just as likely find me at the makeup counter looking for the latests "youth in a jar" as any other mid century modern woman. Do I want to be young. NO. Do I want to look good for the age Im at? YES.
I dont mind so much the cropped pics. What I find interesting is what possesses a man to take a pic of him and his motorcycle/boat/bike so that he is so far away you cant see a face. Show me the face, the trappings dont matter. Hopefully, any guy looking at my pics will think the same. However I do admit I did take one of me in my new (for me) convertible. New pics to follow LOL

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 7/31/2008 11:32:11 PM | ^^Well, I like the new pics you put up, especially the one in the yellow dress. That color would look absolutely horrid on me (yellow washes me out and makes me look jaundiced) but looks really nice on you.
But where's the pic of you in that spiffy new convertible? My son just bought an older Z-28 and I've driven it a few times and let me tell you...I am SOOOOO ready to trade my little SUV in on a fun car like that and gas prices be damned!! WOW!! There's just something about the roar of a V-8 with glass-paks and 6-on-the-floor to get a gal's heart pumping.
Anybody wanna race?? Gotta catch me first!!

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/1/2008 5:33:19 AM | OMG!
I can not believe no one has noted all the pictures from the mirror, IN THE BATH ROOM. Is that the only mirror in the house? Also get a friend to take a picture of you. Your friends are on this site as well so don't be shy about asking for some help.
I also agree, the picture that make me go 12 to 6 are the sunglass ones. Different if they were outside on a boat, cycle, or bungee, but again, in the bathroom?
|
| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/12/2008 9:33:54 PM | I have a picture on here where I cropped my girlfriend out. She did not want to be on here, but it was a good picture, so I cut her out.
I agree about the bathroom picture, with the cell phone...and the shirt off. Kind of creepy. I won't respond to someone with a picture like that.

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/13/2008 1:46:25 PM | i wonder if they have the same dating problems on other planets?
"why do guys have to have their pictures taken with their space ships?" "things were going great -then she started seeing my clone #7 and dropped me" "why isn't he melting minds with me after three dates?" "do you like your female species to have large fake cones or small natural ones?" "what do you think about a gal who carries a particle excelerator?" "someone has stolen my DNA, now they are using my dating profile" "we went into hyper drive -she threw up on my wookie" "would you date someone who drinks and beams themself home? -should i take their keys?" "any recipes for cooking space worms?" "what do you prefer, long or short antennas?" "would you date a guy who can't afford his own robot?" "she lets her tribble sleep on the bed with her" "i would rather not date the green ones from the other side of the crater -does that make me a racist?" "any tips for not sweating when we travel past the sun?"

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/13/2008 6:14:14 PM | ^^Me thinks Luck has waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on his hands....and possibly too many beers under his belt?? (but it's early yet)

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/14/2008 7:49:18 AM | Wiked: they say the first one is nice, the second one is.....what is the point of putting that one up?...its blurry so why bother? the third one is nice.
What I dont understand is why people try so hard to break the rules. Your main pic is supposed to be a head shot. HEAD SHOT= A clear picture of your face. Not a pic of you on the other side of a lake in a canoe that no one can see. Not a pic of your car parked in front of your house. Do you really have nothing more to offer than your material things??? And certainly not your c***. There are websites specifically for that. This guy is trying to run a free REAL dating site so give him the respect he deserves, and follow his rules. My biggest pet peeve is when you try to post pics of children. I know you are proud of your children and grandchildren but cant you save those pics to show someone privately when you are sure that they are not a pedophille or pervert??? YES PEOPLE THEY WALK AMONG US. This is a DATING site, why in the world would you want to put pics of children up? Im not talking about a proud grandpa holding his new grandson.....as long as you are in the picture, thats different. There are dozens and dozens of people who post or try to post pics of just children.
If you dont agree with this post.....then click on ratings.....and click "rate new pictures" and you will see how many people try to get away with anything they can. And for those of you that think "ONE GUY CANT POSSIBLY LOOK THROUGH ALL THESE PICS" you are right...but luckily he has help.

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/14/2008 5:36:46 PM | | Thanks for the feed back. I was playing with shutter speedin the blurry one, I can see what some folks would think. | |
|
| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/14/2008 6:05:20 PM | | I cut my friends out of my pictures out of respect for their privacy. They may not necessarily be comfortable with random Internetters ogling pictures of them, so I chop them down to solo shots. | |
|
| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/17/2008 2:49:20 PM | I always update my pictures. If it isn't just me in my pics, it would only be my weight challenged cat. | |
|
| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/28/2008 8:43:56 AM | awww weight challenged cats need love too.
hahahaha
I change up my pix every time I take a new one that I think is good. I like to keep them as fresh and updated as possible because I've met the guy who's pic was 3 years old before the great depression of 2006. lol
I'm not perfect and I don't expect others to be either. I appreciate those who crop others out because its a respect thing. I'd be totally pissed if my sister posted a pic of us on there and she didn't crop me out. so when i had a pic of her and i... I stuck a huge happyface over her face. That pic alone got me all kinds of hilarious messages.
But there are some people out there who hate pictures never get them taken and don't have anything recent. This is why I recommend to people to have a friend take some nice shots of you. ;) you don't have to dress up.. just be you. and then.. you'll have recent pix.
and worst... i hate it when people message me but have no pix at all. I had pix uploaded within 45 seconds of account creation. Don't give me crap that you just started your account. If you want to search without having a pic don't be angry when i tell you that I require one to conversate. I like to put a face to a name. is a false sense of security that I cling to. there ya go.

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/28/2008 2:47:36 PM | I will be posting a pic when I get home this evening. It will be of me and taken within the last 2 weeks. Personally, when I get an email from someone with the obvious other person cropped out,I delete without responding. If you can't bother taking the time to take a fresh decent shot of yourself solo, you obviously don't have the time to take getting to know me. The ones I will respond to,but mostly unfavorably are the wedding tux shots.Nope,I really don't believe you were the best man.I find that one to be tacky at best.A good photo?Yes,probably;as everyone tries to look their best on their wedding day! I don't know how other ladies feel about the bathroom mirror cell phone half dressed in a towel pics, but I think you can do better. It also makes me think of having to take a pic on the sneak and that was what could be managed. For the excuses of they don't know how to upload a pic,but they sure know how to get on a dating site alright! I think if you're going to to put up a profile on a dating site,it is in your best interest to put up your photo.A technically decent recent shot is not that difficult to accomplish. If there's some excuse why someone "can't"uplink a photo, they're no one I need to correspond with. Just my two cents. My photo will be up this evening. | |

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 8/30/2008 10:46:51 AM | LOL!! you know what makes me laugh?? the distressed photoshopped artistic ones. the ones that remove all detail. ;p

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 9/6/2008 11:18:10 PM | I am not sure what some people are thinking when they post pictures.
the only thing more bothersome around here are the people that spend 3/4 of their profile sounding all angered and bittered about their past experiences.
|
| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 9/8/2008 10:48:35 PM | Well, Guess i am odd man out. I could care less about nitpicking over someones pictures. The picture gets me to stop as i pass by. It's what's written in the profile that really counts in the beginning. A picture isn't going to tell anything tangible about the person. Right now my pictures are close to a year old. I still look the same, Women still talk to me on here. I might update them sometime..............maybe?..................next year? | |
|
| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 9/9/2008 10:17:10 AM | I have taken them down for weeks at a time. Then take a notion to put them back up. But as far as other peoples pictures go, I could care less if they were taken yesterday or last year or if they have any at all. If i decide that a person is interesting enough it doesn't matter about a picture to me. I message them. I have already met several women on this site. More than 2 or 3 didn't have a picture. More than once i was pleasantly surprised. Every one of the women i met that didn't have a picture sent me one before we met. Most of them i didn't even have to ask. I don't nitpick. Maybe that could be why i have had better luck than most on here. | |

| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 9/9/2008 2:15:25 PM | herrbrush ,
Simple, There are a lot of freaks on here that want to mess with kids. They get there sick minded jolly' s by either having sex with minors and stalking. But, There are ways around it. Nobody really knows where i am. They might look at my profile and think they do. But they don't. I have at times had my oldest sons picture posted here with mine. No one has ever said anything to me. It is really no ones business.
|
| Pictures in Dating Profiles Posted: 9/9/2008 2:43:45 PM | | I will admit that I don't really care if the picture is cropped so long as it is just the one person remaining. For me when I look at somones pictures online it's all about them being alone and looking for somone to be with. What I can't stand is seeing a woman holding a beer with 10 guys holding on to her (I'm sure the same applies for guys with women) Kinda takes away from the purpose of looking for somone. Another thing I can't stand are those ones, like mentioned earlier, that show somone being in shape and youthful looking online, only to talk to them for a few days and get slammed with a recent pic where they have packed on 40 pounds and look like they've been run into the ground. All my pics are within a year old. Not to mention my body and looks havent changed much since I was 17. Just my 2 cents. | |
