Former Nixon and Reagan aide-turned media pundit Pat Buchanan has a unique take on the Sen. John McCain’s success in running for the Republican presidential nomination.
What does Buchanan think will happen if McCain succeeds as the GOP nominee for the upcoming 2008 presidential election?
“He will make Cheney look like Gandhi,” Buchanan said.

On Hardball yesterday, guests Stephen A. Smith and Pat Buchanan discussed the foreign policy impact of electing either Rudy Giuliani or John McCain. Buchanan cautioned that McCain will have a neoconservative attitude:
He’s very bellicose. He’s got that very in-your-face attitude Bush does. I think we could very well be at war with Iran. That’s one of the reasons I’ve always been skeptical of McCain. I think he’s Bush on steroids.

Obama on the other hand already showed his true stripes by getting behind throwing out the fourth last month. With either one of them we will lose everything. | |

Sadly it might once again go down to which one will hurt us less. One way or another each one will hurt us as a nation. The good thing is that is seems neither McSame and Obama are as evil and willing and able to break the laws like Bush and Cheney did repeatedly. Getting a former oil man and a behind the scenes scammer out of office would be an improvement but McSame and Obama don't seem like much of an improvement sadly. | |

Posted: 6/27/2008 4:12:14 PM | Buchanan has some pretty out-there ideas and opinions, but he believes war is something to be avoided, and I respect that. I really wish I could assume every president wants to avoid war, but Bush has rid me of that illusion.
I've asked it before, and I'll ask it again: how will McCain accomplish his pro-Iraq occupation, anti-Iran agenda without reinstating the draft? The draft would guarantee a single term only, but so might his age... | |

A US draft under the conditions that it is in right now would be more akin to an all out US civil war. Don't base any of your decisions on the popularity of this first illegal occupation based on what you might be lead to believe on the news . 89% of the American people want the war over in the latest AP poll, remember when Cheney said "SO?".
If the US attacks Iran this country will certainly and finally take America back from the Zionist elite globalists that have ruined it. The Rockerfellers, Bushes, Harrimans , etc. | |

Posted: 6/27/2008 9:01:58 PM | I'm really kind of tired of the islamo-fascist thing and think it's overblown. If that is all McCain has for us, continuing this thing, we are sunk.
First, I think Islamic people are not by nature violent or militaristic. There are radicals and certainly criminals among them and most of them use our foreign policy screwups, nutjob theology and occasionally just greivances clothed in religion, but basically.....radicals and criminals.
I really dont think that they need to be the focus of ALL of America's energy and resources, we have other fish to fry and need to move on. McCain isnt going to do it.
Obama may or may not.......but McCain has nothing good going that I can see.
Probably a nice guy, long service to his country, etc., but for that, give the man a nice, fat pension.........and a rocking chair. Not the White House......... | |

Are you aware of what a lie is ? so far with all this so called "intelligence" that has been thrown around noone yet has proven that there are any terrorists apart from the homegrown type that is spreading all over the world right now. So with that thinking so far the only terrorists are the US government who are systematically killing people for no real "reason". you also probably believe in god , the easter bunny and santa claus. | |

McCain: Sunnis, Shiites "Trying to Confuse Me"Will Stay in Iraq Until He Can Tell Them Apart, Mac Says
In a major speech on the war in Iraq today, presumptive GOP nominee John McCain said that the Iraqis have split into two factions, Shiites and Sunnis, with a sinister goal in mind.
"My friends, the Iraqis have divided themselves into these two groups for one reason and one reason only," Sen. McCain told an audience in a retirement village in Scottsdale, Arizona. "They are trying to confuse me."
Sen. McCain said that although the two groups of Iraqis are "well-nigh impossible" to tell apart, he vowed to commit U.S. troops to Iraq "for as long as it takes for me to figure out just what the difference between Sunnis and Shiites is."
"If it takes 100 years, 1,000 years, or a billion zillion years, we will stay there until I can tell Sunnis and Shiites apart," the Arizona senator said.
Sen. McCain reserved his harshest words for the Shiites, who he said were trying to confuse him by sometimes referring to themselves as "Shiites" and other times as "Shia."
"What's that all about, anyway?" he asked. "Stop clowning around and call yourself one thing."
Sen. McCain seemed alarmed when a reporter asked him whether he believed that the Kurds, the third major group in Iraq, were trying to confuse him as well.
"The Kurds?" he said. "Who the heck are they?"
Elsewhere, a carjacker in Los Angeles stole a tank of gas but left the Mercedes.

Actually.......he has NO idea what a Jihadist is if he refers to the 'terrorists' as such.
There are FOUR types of Jihad......only 1 is of the martial type (the others being personal, verbal, & community-oriented...it means striving for what is good) & it can only be sanctioned by a Court of LAW! The people who attacked our country on 9/11 were NOT sanctioned by recognized an Islamic court of law & therefor were NOT Jihadists. They were extremist zealot nutbags.
Using a scary foreign word to cover the fact that the ACTUAL terrorists are extremists shunned by the general Muslim community worldwide goes along way to allowing you to hate w/out conscience. & it's easy to fool scared people who hate.
If you are Christian......do you feel represented by the Christian Soldier extremeists of your religion who blow up doctors, nurses & pregnant women while cloaking themselves in a religion based on forgiveness & compassion?
By putting a general LABEL on your fears.....they have talked you into sanctioning the killing (of innocent Iraqi civilians) who have never done anything to harm either you OR your country.
Are you really OK w/the REMOTE possibility that somehow 10's of thousands of dead/maimed/orphaned Iraqi children who are a DIRECT collateral damage result of our invasion will somehow, someday make you a tiny bit safer? Children, not extremists.....innocent kids, who should grow up wide-eyed @ the world's wonders, just like your own. Is your fear REALLY worth that?
The REAL Jihadists were the MILLIONS of gentle Muslims who spoke out worldwide directly after 9/11 & condemned the cowardly actions of a few extremists as morally bankrupt & the antithesis of their religion. That would be Jihad types 2 & 3.
True "Jihad of the Sword "is primarily reserved for resisting oppressors or invaders, MUST BE sanctioned by a court of law & considered righteous by the general population. (sounds awfully similar to our martial laws, doesn't it?)
McCain would be correct to refer to the Iraqi civilians who fight back against US aggression in THEIR OWN COUNTRY!

Sure, I'd be happy to! That would be a fantastic way to increase trans-cultural knowledge & tolerance. 
But I don't need a ticket, thanks. I can easily do so to my foreign Muslim friends right here in town (large University w/many international students). They have a very hospitable culture & cook some amazing food! I'm always treated like a king in their homes. Dang....now I'm all hungry for some Dal Masala!
Likewise, they return to their countries knowing not every US citizen is a war-mongering bully wanting to dictate how the rest of the world utilizes their respective nations resources & willing to use invasion, hypocritical 'regime change' & the mass murder of innocent civilians to do so.
