Zappa's Halloween show from 1981, which was broadcast live on MTV way back when, is now officially released as a DVD, but you have to order it from Frank Zappa's website. This is good news, although I still want the "Roxy" DVD promised years ago.

I swear I saw the Zappa Palladium DVD at my local Borders last night (pretty sure it was at Best Buy too). I think it also had the '74 TV show he did in California on it too. It was 14.99 or so I think. You may wanna check if you have a Border's Books around you. I've had both for years and the quality of both are excellent!

I think you may be mistaken, Ready4...I think you probably saw the DVD called "The Dub Room Special", which has bits of the Halloween 81 show mixed with bits of the 1974 "Token Of His Extreme" TV special. This new DVD is all from the 10-31-81 Halloween show at the Palladium in NYC.

Both DVDs are worth having.

By the way, my "Torture Never Stops" dvd arrived QUICKLY and SAFELY. I don't think I waited 6 business days. Not what I expected from Barfko Swill!!

It's about 10 bucks more than I would have liked to pay (roughly 30 dollars after s & h), but I'm sure I'll get more than $30 worth of enjoyment out of this. It's nice to finally have a (nearly) complete Frank Zappa concert on DVD to enjoy, especially now that FZ is gone. Highlights of this DVD for me are "The Illinois Enema Bandit", "Black Napkins", "Alien Orifice", "The Torture Never Stops" and the guitar solo on "Dumb All Over". No 5.1 surround mix, but it is stereo.

I was listening to and taping that show(the Bronx!) live on Halloween,1981 from The Palladium. He always did Halloweenie shows. It was either on WNEW 102.7 or WPLJ 95.5? And,MTV was on way back then,sc62?
I could remember seeing him live on SNL also.(Slime?)

Also, newly released is a CD called "One Shot Deal". One of the highlights for me is "Occam's Razor", which is the original source for the "On The Bus" (a/k/a "Toad-O-Line") guitar solo from "Joe's Garage". It was originally a guitar solo from "Inca Roads", believe it or not! Another great track is an early and quite different take on "Don't Eat The Yellow Snow"; called "Australian Yellow Snow" on this CD.

Again, this CD is only available through FZ's website.

That's my #1 philosophy that I pass on to everyone. If there's one thing that you're going to take away from life,it's gotta be this;"Don't you eat that yellow snow. Don't you go where the Huskies go!" Words of wisdom. My gift to you.

Yeah, you are right it was the Dub Room Special I saw. But I already had both shows anyway from my tape trading days in very high quality so I didn't give it that close of a look. Sorry about that.
