But who the hell was it, who decided women had to have hairless legs, armpits, eyebrows shaped, bikini lines done..........................?
Surely no woman came up with this idea, to foster onto her sisters (other women) that we could not be like men, with hairy armpits, legs and groin areas...........
Girls aren't you fed up with the plucking, shaving, waxing, threading, veeting et al.
I know it's summer, (oh okay, the days are a tad warmer) and I want to wear my shorter skirts, but do women really have to shave/pluck/veet/wax just so they feel they are acceptable by civilisation as we know it............?
So in your opinion guys and gals..............who was it who started this hairless women malarky?... | |

Posted: 6/29/2008 3:02:58 PM | There was actually a TV programme about this very topic earlier this year. Anyway, essentially the presenter (a very dark haired lady) stopped removing her body hair for a month or two to see how others reacted and how she felt.
During the course of her "non shaving" time she met women with facial hair who never shaved and women who never removed their under arm hair or shaved their legs. Apparently these women felt emancipated that they didn't have to conform to what was the norm.
By the end of the period the presenter couldn't wait to get the Veet out and get rid of all her fury bits.
Personally I couldn't stand having hairy armpits *shudders at the thought*. Luckily I'm very fair so have never had to shave my legs ... lucky me !! | |

For centuries, different generations and different cultures have had different expectations about body hair on a female or a male, maybe?
Whose idea was it? Haven't got a clue. Wish I had shares in Gilette though..

I served in Germany with the RAF and there is nothing to be said for hairy legs on wimin!
We are not allowed to have freak shows these days - but bearded ladies used to be in travelling shows - I don't wanna these lot your on about doin handstands!

No because i dont like the idea of ending up using hair straightners all over my body in the name of vanity!.Us ladies have hair removal down to a fine art now,it takes no longer than any other beauty routine. | |

Keep this a secret but one reason im divorced is becouse while my ex wife was doing the above she broke our strimmer!

I suffer from chronic facial hair growth as well.
When all these clever men came up with all these wacky ideas for female vanity that women seem to gladly adopt, why wasn't public nakedness ever encouraged? | |

Have you ever been out, and met people like my ex missus - a size 10 -12 when we married and a size..........is heffalump a dress size when we divorced?
Go out on Friday night without your beer goggles and you will see why it hasn't been encouraged!

Posted: 6/30/2008 3:45:55 PM | It was men's idea...their idea of the ideal woman...which led women to believe that being unbending and definite in their pursuit of the man who would provide for us and our perfect children meant we needed to become either drag queens or pre-pubescent-a-like boys.
Us women will do anything to be the woman of even the most grotesque male individual's dreams and if that means appearing to have a hairless torso, legs and limbs but gifted with thick, long shiny hair..we will do it!!
But only as long as the recipient of our affections and affectations is a wealthy alpha male type - i certainly wouldn't be bothered removing any unsightly hair on my body for a less worthy man. | |

Posted: 6/30/2008 5:27:05 PM | hmmmm...there are so many things about each other which we can exaggerate...as in, impose upon others re our expectation about how they behave...or let people away with it because we are so kind and generous ....with an unforbidding and lovely acceptance for each other.
there's heaps more issues too...like , lack of self-confidence, horrenduous insecurity which leads us to be hateful and un-accepting - that's what I despise, ...people not feeling confident enough within themselves to share the love...what I do love is..the down to earth human beings that/which I share this planet with and also those who are experienced and have a view of life which imbues them with a certain vision ...that spells out JOY..
hairy..hirsute..inadequate, incomplete, insecure or feeling like a goddess..lets be a lot more forgiving and just get on with the business of seducing unsuspecting strangers for cheap thrills and validation..and making us feel great..
We are all friends on here..lets exercise that ..and be really nice to each other... | |
