Yes, I know we have moved on from all of that and women have now burned their bras and sup pints like fellas and it's quite acceptable for a lady to ask a bloke out for a beer or three.
Yet here we find ourselves in the modern world of internet dating, and strangely it appears the boys approaching the girls first etiquette is alive and well.
So, my question is how many of us ladies actually initiate a first contact message, and how do the guys actually feel about receiving unsolicited messages from us?

IMO the only reason why there are women who won't make first contact is because they can't handle the idea of being rejected which is a bit daft seeing as it is only a profile on site that would be rejecting them.
Come on ladies pick a bloke you like the look of and send him a note.If the worse that happens is deleted/unread then so what? | |

My only (slight) reservation when I send one is whether the recipient (bloke) may see me as being rather forthright (I am !) because I took the initiative, and therefore be put off?

Im not a bit sure that anyone i like will mail me, i dont know, maybe you find it difficult to understand because the UK is bigger and there are alot more people on POF but here a guy will see my profile beacuse im on this everyday so he will mail me if he likes the look of my profile.
I have mailed other guys that i wasnt bothered about first but if i like someone i wont mail them first. its just my preference, ive always had more luck with guys that mailed me first..... | |

Take the iniative ladies and make first contact. Send that email. Men are not mind readers, we don't know you are interested unless you add us to your favourites maybe.

I did however very recently ask someone on a date because I was beginning to suspect if I didn't ask they would never get round to it. All I can say is it worked! Haven't been on said date yet though but at least I asked! | |
