| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 6/30/2008 6:59:49 AM | Ok, I am just getting out of a 20 year marriage where I basically shut down. So I have had few sexual partners and not much to cheer about.
I am now on a road of self discovery and I am loving the trip. I have a gentleman friend that I will finally get my hands on this weekend after a month of conversation. These conversations have included some awesome phone sex. Now granted, I could get the job done basically by myself, but the emotional reactions for both involved is what does it for me. (And this is definitely a new road for me!!)
Ok, so the basic question .... The last three nights, I have had an amazing orgasm screwed up by a pounding headache that came on right at a crucial moment. (back of my head, base of my neck) Do women have blood flow issues as men do? I mean everything in the area swells for a woman as well. Am I having a major and sudden decrease in blood pressure to the brain? Could it be the angle of my neck? Do I need a blue tooth?
I've been joking that when we finally get our hands on each other we might kill each other this weekend ... we would both die happy LOL. But seriously, this is starting to worry me.

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 6/30/2008 7:14:02 AM | I have had many headaches .Most are caused from stress. Those coming from the neck and back of head are very common in stress. So you might be pretty nervous and you will over come it after you once meet and can relax in each others arms. So relax ! And enjoy your new found friend . Good luck to you both. | |

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 6/30/2008 7:30:37 AM | It could be that you are not breathing well as you are getting closer to orgasm. Many people make the mistake of holding their breath (yes, I know there are some that enjoy asphyxiation-related orgasms) too long, therefore creating the headache due to lack of oxygen.
Try to be aware of your breathing while you are getting closer to climax and see if that has anything to do with it.
You are also right that it could be the angle, as well as stresses that are now coming to a "head" (pun intended! ) now that you are fairly certain you will be engaging in sexual intimacies with *gasp* another living, breathing person!
Try not to dwell on it too much and enjoy!

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 6/30/2008 7:39:17 AM | | Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, but as one poster has already stated, back of neck/base of skull is basically stress/tension headaches. There are many women who develop headaches during periods of arousal and it's due to the chemicals being produced in your body. Not much you can do about that (that I know of).. start with your dr and see if they have any insight. | |

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 6/30/2008 7:43:26 AM | OH Libra!!! OH THANK GOD!!
I think you got it .... gasping and moaning is not breathing!! After reading another thread on here, I think I know better what I am doing as far as my own orgasm. So yes, they were more intense lately..... but I forgot to breath!!
I will be taking any other advice into consideration as well, but I think we found it.
I'll let you know tomorrow

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 6/30/2008 8:12:30 AM | | I dated a woman that during her climax did the same thing....I am versed pretty well as far as oral sex and she hadnt had as strong an orgasms as this produced. She did go to her dr as I as well as she was concerned...the info she got was like what you said about the blood,he said that at that point during sex alot of blood goes to her pelvic area away from her head which gave her some terrific headaches...mind you, they werent long at all but once she knew what they were from..it was easier to deal with them... | |

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 6/30/2008 8:14:58 AM | | Search for migraine.....there have been a couple more threads on intense headaches at orgasm...i have experienced a real sharpe headache a few times during orgasm and have never experienced migraines in my life....might search the net also... | |

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 6/30/2008 8:33:35 AM | couldn't resist the obvious joke here.. husband wakes up wife middle of the night and gives her two aspirin, and a glass.... wife says:" but i dont have a headache.." to which husband immediately pipes up "Great....lets do it!"
I'd research that a little further...aside from few anecdotal reports. ..seems this is not too common. Hypotension characteristically does NOT contribute to what sounds like occipital ridge headaches. High blood pressure on the other hand... i'd be inclined to think its postural. Try to relax your neck...and dont watch lol! no doubt you are simultaneously propping the phone between your ear and shoulder? Bluetooth honey...or speakerphone, webcam...
I'm assuming (if you climaxed with the s/o) you've never had these headaches before?

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/2/2008 5:00:54 AM | Breath grasshopper..... MMMMMMMMM
No shooting headache at all!!!!! I still need my neck cracked, but that is getting better too.
And for anyone reading, I am a monogomous person (even for phone sex) which is why my profile is unsearchable at the moment. Especially since I'll actually get my hands on him in 2 days.

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/2/2008 6:39:49 AM | Call your doctor. I used to get exactly what you described; many years later, while at work a young patient came in, had a massive stroke. The doctor told us that what he described to his wife (exactly what you wrote, OP, in the exact same sequence), was an indication of a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Get it checked out. Don't become a statistic.
PS I'm too far away to email the OP due to her restrictions; can someone please try to tell her of this?

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/2/2008 7:09:48 AM | Yes, I did see this stellarbystarlight .... that was my first concern. And I do intend to talk to my doctor about it. My life and my kids are worth having it checked.
But I am hoping that it is simply a matter of breathing, which I wasn't doing.

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/3/2008 11:01:51 AM | | it could also be certain medications that raise your blood pressure especially birth control. the nuva ring is known to do that. and your blood pressure elevates during climax. so you combine high blood pressure already and then the moment of climax. bam headache. definitely worth being seen by the doctor. good luck. | |

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/3/2008 12:20:29 PM | Headaches associated with orgasm are NOT uncommon. Worth checking out though. High BP? Low BP? Either or can be dangerous.
Sue used to get some doozies. Always put it down to diet (she worked shift on a neuro floor) because she'd chow down on salty crap some nights. Her period, salty chips, a change in the weather and it almost guaranteed a migraine. I would have NEVER had another chip in my life if I'd been her ... watching her upchuck for most of an entire day after one of those shifts but that was her. No big deal, right?
At 46 she blew a cerebral aneurysm. Dead before she hit the floor. 21 YEARS and looking for froward to 20 or 30 more and booom - all ended in a flash.
Get it checked. | |

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/6/2008 10:02:50 AM | Well, I have survived the weekend. I'm just gonna lay here and glow for awhile.
I'll be calling the doctor this week to get checked out. I don't have high blood pressure, but I do take meds for high cholesterol (and synthroid).
But let me just say, that I had enough orgasms over the weekend, that if it were an immediate problem, I don't think I'd be typing this.
And I am grateful for all the info I have gotten from this forum. I do sincerely believe that it has helped me rediscover myself and made for a mutually enjoyable weekend.

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/6/2008 10:53:04 AM | | OP- one other thing that may be causing your headaches... synthroid. I was on it for many years, and approximately 10 yrs. ago, I had to change to natural thyroid instead.... the headaches disappeared, but it also made a ton of difference in my overall health.... if you want to know more, email me. | |

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/6/2008 10:59:27 AM | | i had the exact same problem that kept occuring some months ago and i had a burst ulcer not long after but it wasnt nothing to do with that it was the fact that once i had had all the medicals that comes with having the burst ulcer they found out i had high bloodpressure and now if i dont keep taking the tablets on a one a night rountine thing and the first time i have sex i know its cos ive forgot to take the tablets and my blood presure it up. It would be horrible experience cos the pain in the temples was so servere just as i was trying to reach orgasn right at the hieght of it that i just wouldnt bother trying and just make sure who i was with was satisfied. this of course is not the ideal night together lol. | |
|
| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/6/2008 11:03:08 AM | | ps drinking also makes blood presure go higher so if you went to docs and it was ok it could just be that your blood presure is up at the time youve drunk but then again you may just have high blood presure for some other reasons. | |

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/6/2008 11:08:21 AM | | dehydration causes me to get bad headaches as well.. and I find when I am dehydrated my head starts to hurt as well when im about to cum. this might sound retarded.. but I usually drink a couple of glasses of water.. before a big date.. so I wont become dehydrated.. and tired/headache. | |

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/6/2008 1:22:09 PM | it could be your breathing or your excitement.. im not sure but maybe its an attraction issue as well.. followed by the fact that your not having sex with your previous partner.. or it could just be great sex..

| Female Orgasm ... blood flow? headache? Posted: 7/6/2008 4:11:02 PM | Not high blood pressure ... I'm in to see the endocronologist once a year, the gyn once a year and on occassion the family practitioner as well. No high blood pressure. I do not drink, I'm divorcing an alcoholic and frankly don't like the taste of most alcohol.
The shooting pain at the base of the neck (during phone sex with SO) stopped last week after a concentrated effort to breath (not just moan and gasp as was natural). I also made an effort to be sure my neck wasn't in oddball angles.
And this weekend we made sure to have plenty of water around to prevent dehydration. I made sure the down comforter was off the bed immediately, but I still think I should have told them at the front desk to steam clean that bed .... it was that good......
