| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 6/30/2008 3:08:17 PM | June 29 Sunday breakfast was a blast at Kanes.
General consensus by those that attended ... Kanes is easy to get to, central location, great food, and reasonably priced.
Once a month at another location would be great. Just remember to consider those of us that travel by transit. Also, two of us arrived at 11:05, one more around 11:20, another around 12 and the final one appeared around 12:20. We finally left at 1:40 or so... Many dinning establishments don't appreciate people drifting in... whenever... and work on table turn overs. Especially Sunday mornings. Kanes goes out of their way for PoFers!!! Thank you so much!!!
The next Sunday breakfast... July 6... Kanes... starting at 11... I expect one or two people will be suffering with the first (or third) Stampede hangover. I also expect Kanes will be busy because it is so close to the grounds. Perhaps a plan to do some stampeding after???
Thanks to the great staff... and the fabulous chef!! Nice to finally meet!
Hugs to all,
Fly

| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 6/30/2008 3:12:37 PM | I should be able to make it next Sunday, I should have 2 good eyes by then!
I can't commit myself to the stampeding afterwards just yet.
I do agree though, I like the central location, for those of us who live in the boonies, it is quick and easy to get to.

| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 6/30/2008 4:33:17 PM | 3 people have voted to delete this thread... the reason I started it again was because the previous "Sunday Breakfast" thread had been deleted by admin. For people looking for Sunday Breakfast.. it is also easier to find for Calgary POFer s who are used to searching for "Sunday Breakfast" . Like I was!!
Fly
thoughts? should I delete the thread?

| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 6/30/2008 5:45:28 PM | Thanks for the comments Fly, muchly appreciated.
I don't take it personally if anyone wants to go elsewhere for their Sunday Breakfast, brunch, lunch what have you. I love seeing familar faces when I come out into the dining room. I would hope that everyone is treated as if they were a guest in my own home when visiting.
The Kane's Thread however has been moved to the EVENTS section if anyone is looking for it.
Happy Stampeding Everyone....
( wonders where she can get this fish a cowboy hat? )

That one was revitalized as the other previously mentioned thread was removed from service.
I should be able to make it there by my usual 12:15 as long as there are no horses on the loose in the downtown section.

| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/3/2008 7:13:02 AM | I plan on arriving at Kane's on Sunday for breakfast - 11:30ish, probably going for a walk first. Unless I pack up the stuff and go camping.... | |
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/3/2008 11:07:40 AM | | To me, breakfast is the best restaurant meal, but Sunday is church at 10AM and that is out in Strathmore, so getting back in time for this is almost impossible. | |
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/3/2008 11:48:53 AM | If the other thread was chopped, then we need to re-post the address
Kane's Harley Diner (403) 269-7311 Inglewood 1209 9 Ave SE Calgary, AB T2G
South side of 9th a block or two from the bridge. Parking is free on Sundays at the city lot across the street and at the Harley dealer out back.

| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/3/2008 1:14:03 PM | but........this coming Sunday is the Family Day in Stampede for free entrance. So no one in here is heading out there? If I don't get up early enough to go to the Ground, then I will drop by for breakfast before I go to the Fair's Fair Book store which is only 2 blocks away. I have been wanting to visit the Book Store for long time but haven't yet had time to do so, maybe joining you folks for breakfast one Sunday is a good idea. | |

Family Day in Stampede for free entrance
Those are the best two reasons I can think of for avoiding the Stampede grounds on Sunday!
I will definitely be at Kanes on Sunday as any thought I might have of camping have been squashed by that place that gives me a paycheque! Have not decided about the walk yet!
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/3/2008 5:04:49 PM | Yup, this Sunday is not a day to hit the grounds, especially if you don't want to be swallowed up by a bunch of kidlets standing all in a row, with sticky hands, lost parents (are they really or did they give up! )
But there are other things that could be done, I have yet to hear my proposition!!
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/3/2008 5:33:54 PM | Count me in for Breaky at Kane's on Sunday!!! May not eat much as my own complex has one that morning too, but be great to visit with everyone. And so far I'm still in town.. | |
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/3/2008 5:34:13 PM | Now you know how Chinese speak English. I actually said "Free entrance" not "Free Admission". Gosh !
I usually do not go Stampede on Family Day, for I hate to get up early just for that. I think I will pick a day to pay $13 to get in, and try to recover it at the New Stampede Casino locates out beside the ground.
But also may get a ride to Flea Market this Sunday, so will see!
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/3/2008 11:14:16 PM | | I knew exactly what you meant applepear! And free entrance, or free admission, I will not be heading to the grounds on Sunday!! | |
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/4/2008 8:06:46 AM | | Some of us are hitting up Dixon's pub for their $4.99 eggs benedict this Sunday. 11am. Lake to follow (weather permitting) if anyone is interested and would like to go to the lake... message me for info. The number of people I can bring to the lake is limited so please don't commit unless you're going to show up, thanks! | |
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/4/2008 1:13:50 PM | | By the way - I called the lake and I can bring 15 guests and my son can bring 3. Including us that is a total of 20 people if anyone is interested. | |
|

| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/4/2008 4:03:00 PM | Lake Midnapore - All those attending brunch at Kane's are more than welcome. Bring your towel, swimsuit and or fishing rod and or sand pail.
I'll arrange a time to meet anyone interested as I have to sign u in at the gate or "hut" as it were.
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/5/2008 3:41:37 PM | | I haven't had confirmations of anyone who wanted to attend this... but something BIG has come up and I'll have to cancel the "lake part" for now. | |
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/6/2008 8:51:38 AM | I will be going for a quick walk this morning!
City parking lot across from Kanes at 10:30 - 10:45 ish.
And then Breakie! | |
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/6/2008 8:55:04 AM | I'm just waiting for the drugs to kick in so I can have a shower, I'll be there, just not sure when.
No walks for me... I might break something else!
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/6/2008 9:00:58 AM | Getting a ride to go to Crossroad Flea market this morning. I haven't been to the Flea market for the last 5 years, kind of excited about the outdoor fresh produce. See you next week maybe. Have a good breakfast!
P.S. and that recycling too, my friend is also taking those newspapers, glasses to the recycle bins for me and I better hurry up pack as much as possible before he arrive!
|
| Calgary Sunday breakfast Posted: 7/6/2008 9:29:35 AM | | I think we might pop in for a bit. It has been forever since either of us has been out to a brunch or any POF get togethers. | |
