A question of height ...
Posted: 6/7/2005 9:15:50 PM
Hi everybody.
I'm just asking a simple question (that might not have simple answers).
Why is height important in a relationship?
Is the height of your partner important to you? and if so ... why?

I have never seen a profile describe a "soulmate" or an ideal match as tall - yet it creeps into the prerequisite for what women are looking for (somehow).
Is it simply a vanity thing? (Like a woman wanting to be able to wear her heels and still look shorter than her man/date)
or is it psychologically deeper than that?

Let the forum begin!

I'm 5'3 so someone shorter than me would just be silly.
I think women wanting a man that is taller than herself may come from the whole "tall, dark and hadsome" thing. We have been pre-programmed perhaps?
Just a thought....

I'm a hair under 5'9", which is on the taller side for a woman. I am definitely *not* a petite gal. I feel really silly around some guy who is 5'8" and weighs like 145 lbs dripping wet. Personally, I don't like having to bend down to kiss my date goodnight.

I'm sorry if I've offended any men of shorter stature. But, honestly.... c'mon... if I was to ask a short guy if he would date a full-figured gal, a lot of them would say no.

I think it all boils down to personal preference. If you're short or overweight (or both!)... stop feeling sorry for yourself, stop blaming your shortcomings (sorry... bad pun) for your lack of a love life, and look deeper inside yourself for the *real* reason.

Hi girls (so far) I'm sure the boys will be along shortly.

I would pick tall guys, but I keep meeting these really nice short ones. Well a touch taller than me actually. I am 5'6" so that is around average height I think.

I went on a date to-night from another dating site, and wow was he a nice guy! I'm gonna be dating him for sure. We clicked on so many levels. Now this guy is barely my height, maybe a touch over. But I don't care, cause I took the time to look past that. I'm really looking forward to knowing him much better over time.

Well.. I"ve never been with a woman taller then me.. might be fun.. and I"m 6'2.

I think the tallest I"ve ever dated was 5'8 and the shortest was 5' even!.. Personally I don't think it matters much... People are people!.

For myself I prefer woman shorter then me, under 5'9" and lighter then me, under 180. LOL

But its not that important to me, I am attracted to all differant sorts. Everyone has something differant about them that makes them attractive to another. I could easily date someone taller or heavier then myself, it all depends on the type of person they are.

Hope that made sense..... lol

Most women like being shorter than their man. Some don't care. Tall women have more orgasms. Shorter men have less coronary disease and cancer.

I dunno...Im 6ft in my socks...tall for an asian...but perhaps considered 'a little taller than average' for western standards...I could be short if compared to a Canadian Lumberjack...or a giant by a clan of midgets......height is relative.

The tallest I ever dated - a German Lady who was 6' 2" she told me that she was intrigued that I was not intimidated.

But i agree most ladies prefer their men to be taller than them...but funny thing is guys generally dont mind dating women who are much shorter.

I have a friend who is 6' 4"...his girl 5'1"

It would probably take some getting used to being with a gal who was clearly taller than me, but I don't see it as a big issue from my end ; )

__Height important in a relationship? Hard to say. I am at sea level most times. Will put up with a few hundred feet or more...But seriously. No.
__I am 5'6" and, yes, I have dated taller than me. Not by much, maybe 1 or 2" taller. Do not see it as a problem. If she is a red head I will put up with 4 or 5". Large rack....You get my point?

I like women who are shorter than me in general. There's just something about a woman looking up into my eyes when we're slow dancing.

so long as when she's in her tallest pair of shoes she's not taller than me...i'm ok!

i've dated women who were taller than me in their shoes...but it was never my issue. for some reason they didn't like it.

i guess it's the whole "dominant male" thing. some women don't like to admit to it most times, but they want someone bigger and stronger than they are.

I am 5'3 and I once dated a man who was 5'3.5 hahaha well it was fine up until I put on his sweatpants and they came up to my calves! (I have long legs) I think it embarrassed both of us... also he wee wee was a bit under 4 inches..... so he was really self conscious... I could care less but he cared so it made things uneasy. *shrug*

Anywho... lol but then I have dated men who were over a foot taller than me!!! That is just plain WEIRD!!!! I like around 5'11-6'1 But I will date shorter/taller... I am not a tallest!

Well, I am just primal I think.
My ideal is a tall man.
But my 2 longest long term relationships were about 5'6". Go figure.
So I know that a mans height doesn't completely rule my choices.
I dated 5 men that were 6'2" this year, it was just coincidence.
I match tall men better sexually, I guess my legs are long.
A short bovfriend I had once, was pretty irate that prior to our meeting, he couldn't get a date on the internet because of his height. He was gorgeous and well built.

We all have a preference of what we like or dislike. That's the beauty of attraction. I am fairly tall and thin, but that doesn't necessarily mean I prefer a man who is tall and thin. Loving someone isn't measured by height it's measured with love from your heart..

I'm 6'1", I like my man to be taller so we don't look like cow & chicken. I feel like a big Lurch when I'm taller than the guy. The man is supposed to be the protector, I just feel silly being the taller one. Yea yea I know this all means I'm insecure with my own height. Duh, I hate being tall.

Everyone seems to have preferences.. while perhaps not ruling them, nontheless, preferences... this thread shares itself with the 1001 BBW threads out there, but appears to generate much less emotional response and yet in principle amounts to the same thing...

Funny the lines we draw around what gets everyone steamed when u review the other threads and then this one...

Just an observation...I go crawl back into the cave now and make a fire!.
