Time goes by so quickly anyway, but do any of you actually find that you lose time and can't remember what happened?

For example I was sitting on my bed putting my socks on the other day and it was 8:00am I looked at the clock before I put the other one on and it said 8:30am I don't remember a thing and am sure I didn't fall asleep as I had been up for a while doing stuff. Is this normal?

Oh and drugs and drink induced stories don't count here I'm afraid. No matter how hilarious.

Yes thanks, I'd certainly remember if I'd been doing "that"

Seriously though it worried me a bit, normally if you daydream you remember the daydream, or if you fall asleep you remember waking up again. I just looked round at the clock and it was 30mins later. It's not the first time it has happened either.

Maybe I should post this in the alien abduction forum

Where did you buy the clock from?

Cinese import - no doubt.....

I hate those, ripping us of when we think we have bought quality Chinese electrical goods!

Could it be you had particularly snazzy socks and were mesmerized by the intricate pattern, or perhaps you had an out of body experience and were floating round somewhere admiring the pattern on your socks?

Sock knows why it happens, but I too have found myself losing time in a worrying manner.
I'm just checking my email before I zoom out the door for a stroll in the park.
I only realise how much time I've lost when my fringe has grown over my eyes, the pets have chewed off my extremities to survive, and the park has been converted to blocks of flats for yuppie tw... brats

The state you endured is known as Male Exertion Shock Syndrom (MESS) It is basically explained by the simple formula:

MAN + FORCED-TO-EXERT-HIMSELF = y(MINUTE-OF-SHOCK)

Where "y" represents the severity of the shock. In this case, 30 -- probably caused by the unusual need for him to change to a clean pair of socks.

NO! That's actually quite scary i would have been properly freaked out.One possible reason may be that you looked at the clock at 8am whilst you were doing something else but your subconcsious played a trick on you and led you to believe that you looked at it just before you put your sock on?.

OR you were indeed abducted by aliens experimented on for a while ,then had all memory of it wiped.Have you checked your body for any strange markings?.Get someone to check behind your ears n stuff quick!.

I often find this happens, only if im mega tired, I'll just be starring into nothingness for 10-15mins for no apparent reason.

I'm glad I made most of you laugh anyway

-No the clock isn't chinese and keeps good time.
-I put clean socks on everyday, unlike one person I know who changes them every 4 days!!!!!
-I didn't have anything to do that day that I didn't want to do.
-Has alzhiemers set in Graham? My grandad had that, now I'm getting worried

I have been very stressed for the last few years, and I do mean very as well, so maybe it is the tiredness thing that someone mentioned and I was just sitting there staring into space.

Once I would have just laughed at but it does seem to happen more often.

Oops there I go again, what's happening?..... who are you?

Scary stuff isnt it. Yes it has happened to me, but I put it down to the Alzheimer's.

It usually happens to me when I am driving - which is even more scary - I will be driving along happily and then all of a sudden I am ten miles up the road to where I was and I dont remember getting there! And again, its not drink or drug related!!!

I get it occasionally, I normally get it when I'm concentrating (not necessarily on the task at hand). The most common example is when I'm reading (yes I need to concentrate when I read, no I don't know why) I find that after a while I am several pages ahead of where I remember getting too. I have to go back to where I was and start those pages again. Just so long as I don't panic I find I cope well enough. It happened on one of my driving tests, I failed because I tried to over compensate for not knowing what I had just been doing, the examiner actually commented that up until then I had been doing very well. Based on that I can only assume that in these periods of lost time I actually function perfectly well, I just don't remember them.

This might be worth looking into.

Narcolepsy is a chronic neurological disorder, affecting the part of the brain that regulates when to be asleep and when to be awake. Narcoleptics can fall asleep while working, cooking, or even driving.

Narcolepsy affects about 1 in 2,000 people, and is thought to be a genetic disorder. Most people experience their first symptoms between the ages of 10 and 25. Narcolepsy is a lifelong condition, but by implementing certain lifestyle changes and seeking medical help, narcoleptics can improve alertness and enjoy a full and active life.

Not saying it is, but worth ruling out.

I'm sure it is just down to stress, lack of sleep, etc.

It's been going on a while but like I said before I have been through a rather stressful 2 years, have no regular sleep pattern due to the stress, and under close monitor by the doctors because of chest pains etc.

I don't think I fall asleep as like I said I don't remember waking up and opening my eyes again like you do. I just appear to sit there gazing in the distance. I'm sure if I rocked back and forth gibbering too I'd be committed

My sister has seen me do it and says I sit there like a zombie and just don't pay any attention to what is going on or being said. I thought that's just what all us guys did when women started moaning about stuff

I posted it as I wondered if it happened to other people too. I am back at the doctors again next week for a check up so I will mention it.
