| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 5:21:20 AM | When I see a candidate, I'm highly aware of what their body says.
Obama is usually standing with an air of pride about him and though it can be interpreted as arrogant, it can also mean confident. After all, he has some impressive accomplishments under his belt and is obviously extremely intelligent by having reached this position in his life. But I've noticed he has skinny wrists.
McCain is usually hunched forward a little and seems a bit scared, like boxers looking prepared to battle each other. It can be interpreted as old but it can also be seen as sign of perseverance. He has demonstrated he can persevere through tough times. Lately, I've noticed McCain and his wife look as though they're on the verge of tears?
I'm wondering how others notice things like posture, vocal intonations, gestures, etc. are seen by 'yall.
No references required as I am wondering about your opinion, not that of some reporter or pundit or pundit posing as a reporter.
No other issues are required either but they may relate to why a candidate may appear over stressed or motivated.
What do you notice about the candidate's body language.

| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 7:40:51 AM | | ^^^ to be fair (something you won't see a GOPer being) McSame was pretty badly busted up and i think you may be seeing some of the effects of that, plus, he is pretty old eh? | |

| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 11:15:32 AM | | I hear that Obama is very confidant about himself and exudes it, so he appears very comfortable and relaxed in skin. And yes, McCain seems very stiff and wooden and kind of pasty looking, even next to other white people he looks like a stiff.....partially due to his injuries and age, but.....gee quiz. | |

| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 11:56:57 AM | Although not applying this to the current candidates there's a bit of 'body language' frequently exhibited by Condi Rice that has always been perplexing to me ... she'll be talking with a Big Toothy Grin on her face about 9-11 victims or US soldiers dying in Iraq, which I find both personally distatseful and creepy.
Then, in her appearances before the 9-11 commission she'll be aswering something in the afirmative while shaking her head from side to side in the universal body language meaning NO ... and vice versa ... denying something while nodding her head yes.
Cognitive dissonance anyone?
Republicans seem to hold her up in the highest esteem, as an honest and effective communicator, and take her word as gospel.
I think she'd be great fun to play Texas Holdem with though.

Does comments like the above make the Poster feel good...powerful? If so, it is not the character of McCain in question...is it? Sad that anyone would take the time to write such drivel on a public forum. Disgusting is probably the better term. Meaning disgusting to the Poster as a person.

| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 1:07:09 PM | We get the theme Padawan honey and gawd, I love havin' you around. I like Obama's body language of course and have zero objectivity there but I've always loved a 'certain walk' on a guy. Makes me all...... I don't look at McCain's 'movement' because, gee, I think if I were tortured for umpteen months I'd probably be hobbling more then I am already. That level of unfairness makes me wanna hurl. But for heaven's sake, someone needs to get to McCain's handlers and TELL THEM to use some kind of bronzer on him. There was one pic of him I saw the other day that he looked positively pasty in. That's just dumb. Doesn't Cindy have some Estee Lauder or whatever the hell the uber wealthy use for make up to share? Using some kind of tanning agent makes everyone look younger and more vibrant.....why in the hell are they doing this to him? Maybe the new guy they just propped up in that campaign shake up will get it....Michael Jackson is the ONLY other person that looks that white ffs.... | |

| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 1:16:49 PM | Actually, to be totally honest... McCain does show his injuries at this stage of his life..for sure. He hasn't changed much in a few years though.
I have noticed a very decisive turn in Obama's stature and posturing. He looks weary and very very tired... much older than when he started this year. If just campaigning does that, it will be a real shame to see Obama lose his looks like Bill Clinton did in a short span. Obama was quite hot looking... then, the last couple of days, I noticed how drastic it has changed.
Even his oratory delivery is suffering. He is mumbling and stumbling over his words... (I DVRed just to be sure I wasn't being biased)... without his teleprompter. A drastic difference b/w now and then.

| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 1:36:13 PM | ^^^ so much for knowing a persons candidate.... he hasn't been able to lift his arms higher than shoulder hight since vietnam......30 years now....
i don't have tv so i've never seen either of them move but i do know that Obama has been busting ass for quite some time now so if he looks a little tired it shouldn't be any wonder... McSame's been doing little more than sitting on the side lines watching hillary and obama knock each other silly for months.....

| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 2:25:12 PM | Well, once again, this is odd. I just saw Obama speak about the Iraq spin and gosh......he still looks like the same guy to me. What is VERY interesting, however, is that as reporters asked the same questions over and over he's not acting tired.....he's acting calm and purposeful. You know......kinda like a teacher that has to get a bunch of unruly lil brats to settle down. Cuz they're not getting it.......and that's ok. The Democrats have learned about patience over the past 7 plus years. Gawd...I can't wait...... Obama '08 | |

| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 4:35:32 PM | Obama has a grueling schedule, he has soccer games to attend for his young children, other activities the girls are involved in with extracuricular events, plus his campaigning schedule. Wouldn't you look kinda tired at this stage of the process? Do you think these guys are robots? McCain is divorced, has grown kids, doesn't have to do anything but sleep and campaign, but he certainly also looks tired most of the time. I am an Obama supporter but the schedules these two guys have been involved in for such a long time would take its toll on anyone...even you! | |
|
| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 4:41:42 PM | Obama's body is a little hunched over, much like Mr. Burns on the Simpsons. He doesn't stand straight up when he walks.
<div class='quote'>I am an Obama supporter but the schedules these two guys have been involved in for such a long time would take its toll on anyone...even you! You failed to include that Obama was a unhealthy smoker (against liberal rules of a healthy America), who knows how long he has smoked. Account for that fact when you decide to attack a POW ( his relaxed way of life? lol!!) I wonder if Obama could of even lived through what McCain been through??<<excellent question
|
| Body Language Posted: 7/3/2008 5:47:09 PM | ^^^ speaking of what McSame has been through i think i would die of self loathing were i to give the pres a squeeze after smearing me all those time.....
i can't wait for the bowling alley to get torn out and replaced with the basketball court!!

| Body Language Posted: 7/11/2008 5:09:55 AM | I just saw McCain with Dr. Phil Gramm he was visibly sweating.
After acknowledging he is not strong on economics, One of his main economic advisors is claiming there is no recession that it's just a mental recession.
I don't have a PhD in economics but I can see the numbers on foreclosures, unemployment, inflation and investment returns are all going the wrong way and I would be sweating too if I had Gramm as an economic advisor.
