| Chemistry? Or Am I an Inert Gas? Posted: 7/3/2008 10:49:16 AM | I've been on POF for a while now, and I'm just now starting to have fun with the forums.
I've changed my profile a few times - I started out with a basic short description, then I added and added - to the point of having one lady tell me it was too long! (There's a potential joke here about never before having a lady tell me something is too long... but I'll let you work out the details. )
Then, I cut it back to a bare minimum, and I've added some more over time.
But I've never asked for this kind of feedback.
I'm nervous about criticism, but I really would appreciate help making my profile better.
Thanks. | |

| Chemistry? Or Am I an Inert Gas? Posted: 7/3/2008 11:17:37 AM | OP ~ I think your profile is awesome and anyone who reads it can see that you are a quality person. I would eliminate the following three things because they are unnecessary:
1. and how I'm growing, but I think it's a safe bet that I won't be appealing to most women, and certainly not to the average woman.
2. If I never find my type of woman smiling back at me, I'll just be a fairly happy old single guy.
3. I have not given up, but I aknowledge that my simple desire, "to find someone I'm attracted to who is interested in me" may be a small needle in a big haystack.
And edit - Maybe - just maybe - there's a woman who would 'click' with me... and maybe... maaayyybeeee.... we'll meet someday! :-)
Best wishes ~ | |

| Chemistry? Or Am I an Inert Gas? Posted: 7/3/2008 12:02:48 PM | Hi Egbdf,
Strange name you found yourself there... Do you do fine or are you just thinking you deserve fudge?
I think your profile is GREAT... the caption on your gas station picture is priceless.
As to that woman who whined about how long your... cough ... 'profile' is, don't listen to her! I think my profile is about 4 times long than yours, and every once in a while, someone will complain, but I just see that as a filter. A woman who doesn't have the ability to sit reading for 5 minutes isn't a woman I want in my life.
YOUR profile took me 2 minutes to read and I'm not even looking to date you... 2 minutes isn't too long (double entendre is accidental).
Happy fishing,

Good catch on the "E)very G)ood B)oy D)oes F)ine" reference. I use it because I'm interested in music, plus I'm trying to be a "good boy".
Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks. I immediatly agree with your edit, on the last line.
I'll have to think about getting rid of those three statements that you mention, because I'm thinking they communicate an aknowlegement of understanding this middle aged dating scene.
But I'll probably go with your suggestion, because I've been known to be my own worst enemy at times!

| Chemistry? Or Am I an Inert Gas? Posted: 7/3/2008 2:15:07 PM | | Well I'd have to say it started out well OP, but by the end of it I was reaching for a box of tissues. I completely agree with one of the previous posters, there are several sentences on there which just aren't necessary, and quite honestly make you sound suicidal, but apart from that you really do sound like a smashing fella. | |
