| Help would be appreciated! Posted: 7/4/2008 12:33:29 AM | Hey folks, I'm somewhat new here but have (and am!) trying plenty of other dating sites as well...even some of the dreaded pay ones. :-) This is my second attempt at a profile. My first one brought zero success, so if at first you don't succeed! This one seems more "breezy" and I was actually quite proud of it. Of course, now another month has gone by and still nothing. I'd like some opinions on not just the profile words, but also the picture. On this site and others I have a remarkably low number of people even going so far as to look at the profile. I'm thinking maybe what I think is the best picture of me perhaps isn't. I know I'm not Brad Pitt, but I also know I'm not a 4! Anyway (deep breath!) have at it! Cheers, Christian | |

| Help would be appreciated! Posted: 7/4/2008 7:40:15 AM | OP ~ While appearance - wise you are NOT a "4" - some of your profile READS like it was composed by someone who was 4 !!!! Muppet movies? Good grief.
1. random silliness of which Muppet movie is the best. (Ahem, Muppets from Space...) 2. I promise I don’t have a life-sized Darth Vader cutout in my living room! :-) 3. and I smile every time I see a kitten.
The photo captions about trying out the camera time are also juvenile. On that note, where is Christian the ADULT? No mention of a career, and you just touched upon what you would like to experience with another person, which is curious. Think as if YOU are the adults who are reading YOUR profile. "Breezy" may not be what your readers are looking for. People have to IMAGINE themselves with you. As far as the photos, your expressions look exactly the same in the first FOUR photos, as well as the LAST ONE, which is not such a good thing.
You have to decide what you want people to know about you, and you have to share things about yourself which will pique their interest and trigger off the desire in THEM to want to know more about you. Save the Muppet Movie discussions for the 12 hour road trip as an alternative to "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall".....
Best wishes ~ | |

| Help would be appreciated! Posted: 7/5/2008 1:24:40 PM | Oooh, ouch. Thanks for the feedback. These things are hard...especially for someone as eclectic as myself. I don't really categorize easily and keeping it short is a struggle. I do prefer younger women, but, um, not the 4 year old level! I was just trying to show a softer side to myself this time and apparently I overdid it. Here is what it used to be... Could you tell me whether I was moving in the right or wrong direction...or if I really just don't get how to talk about myself?
If you believe in Astrology, I'm as pure a dual natured, communicative Gemini as you'll ever find. I wouldn't say I believe in it myself, but it's creepy how often the 'scopes turn out pretty darn accurate. :-) I'm from NH, but moved around a lot growing up...NY, FL, SC, NC, and now back to SC. I even did a semester abroad in Wales my Junior year of UNC Charlotte. I've been rich, poor, urban, rural... you name it and I've been there. As such, I can usually find something in common with nearly anyone. I'm just as much at home in a Goth club as a Republican convention. :-) I've driven in a Presidential motorcade, had dinner with foreign leaders, and even hosted a radio talk show. I'm a fiscally conservative, politically active, sci-fi/fantasy loving, music listening, movie watching, computer fixing, Panthers football watching, adventurous, travel loving, spontaneous, witty, tell it like it is kind of guy who's looking for a woman to love and friendships enough to keep life interesting. I am living proof that nice guys aren't boring!
I'll be playing with your former advice in the meantime. Thanks again.

| Help would be appreciated! Posted: 7/5/2008 1:39:46 PM | | Wow...I actually think you need to combine the two profiles. Your orrigional one shows you have some depth. Your new one tries for the fun. Between the two of them you could show your multi-faceted gemini self. Profiles don't have to be short. lol...I'm proof of that. The more information you give someone the more there is for them to find interest in. Not everyone will appreciate that but writing a longer profile also shows you are making a real effort. | |

| Help would be appreciated! Posted: 7/5/2008 1:42:51 PM | | P.S. "looking for some fun in charlotte" is wayyyyy too generic. You seem like a creative person...write something that 300 other people don't already have. | |
|
| Help would be appreciated! Posted: 7/7/2008 10:15:34 PM | Thanks for the additional feedback. I've tried now to combine the two and have gone ahead and posted the results. Does this strike you as any better?
I'm working on something different for the header phrase. I know "looking for some fun in Charlotte" is generic, but, I don't know, it's short and accurate! Sue me. :-)

| Help would be appreciated! Posted: 7/7/2008 11:07:32 PM | | well you've definately showed that you're multi-faceted. I don't have any other suggestions right now except- WORK ON THAT HEADER | |
|
| Help would be appreciated! Posted: 7/8/2008 12:10:54 AM | Thanks. Let's just hope "multi-faceted" actually attracts what neither side individually could! But, sheesh, the one liner thing is the kicker. :-) I frankly never really pay that much attention to them myself! It's the picture that draws me to a profile and then the profile itself that sells it. The header sort of gets lonely just hanging out at the top of the page. I've never been like "You're so amazing! I finally found my mat...oh wait, what's this? Your header says your a "nice girl looking for fun"? Oh, too generic for me...I'm outta here." :-) (Forgive the sarcasm... I'll figure something out if you say it needs improving!) I've been looking through others though, and well, none of them exactly say anything profound... Ok, brainstorming... How about... "I'm the guy you wish your boyfriend was like" I've been told that enough... Er... "And now for something totally different!" "And now for today's featured profile!" "There you are! Welcome. Come on in!" "The destination is better than the trip" "Hi, I'm Christian. That's my name, I'm not proselytizing..." "If you email in the next 10 minutes, I'll double your order" "Don't regret not looking!" "Oh, just click me already! I see you staring! :-)" "Eclectic is the new cool"
